What to do with a 160 exotic gun
Hello,
It's the 2nd time I loot an exotic gun with 160 ( while I am around 280).
There is no other options to increase it except some "increase Damage" perk which gain only 2 or 3 point.
The very last "increase damage" require an exotic gem (not sure of right english word)
I was wondering if this one will like double the damage or what?
I mean I dont want to loose my gem for 5 points
What I call gem is the green stuff you get from exotic disassembly.

Dismantle the weapon. It's year 1 because you bought a legacy engram from xur. In the future, I wouldn't waste your coins on them! Anyways dismantle it for the exotic shard, and if you go to the weapon kiosk, you can always grab the year 2 version if it's available...

It won't increase the attack, it is a Year one. You can however now buy the Year 2 version (if applicable) from the Exotic Kiosk. The correct English term for the gems would be Exotic Shard.

What gun is it? If it has a y2 version you can buy that. If it doesn't, you can use it in PvP but in regular gameplay (raids and such) it will be useless

It's actually just called an exotic shard at this point. Dismantle and use later to infuse to a higher level.

Be careful when you purchase engrams from xur. If you buy a legacy engram you will only get year one items. But because you are new that isn't all that bad as you probably do not have many exotics anyways. You can go to the kiosk in the tower where the exotic blueprints are and buy a year two version if it was carried over. Hope this helps.

Edited by Gary The Snail: 12/4/2015 5:56:18 PMAll of the Yr 1 content (Vault of Glass, Crotas End and PoE) were not updated with TTK and continue to drop loot that caps out at 160 (170 if you use etheric light to up it) and as of now it doesn't look like their are plans to update that content with useful light drops. Edit: Also the "gem" you are referring to is an Exotic Shard. You can only get them now from dismantling an exotic. Previously in yr 1 you were able to buy exotic shards for 7 strange coins a piece.

Once you get a Year 1 160 exotic weapon, you can purchase the Year 2 version from the exotic weapon kiosk near the Vanguard for 150 legendary marks, however there are still exotic weapons and gear that do not have Year 2 versions. Anyway, I would recommend for you to dismantle the 160 exotic weapon, since the maximum damage it can do when fully upgraded is 170. Hope this helps :)

There are many ways to get the year one exotics. The engrams Xur sells, they can drop in the Vault Of Glass (I got a yr 1 Dragon's Breath last week), and from the Crota raid. They can also drop in the Prison Of Elders. I keep thinking (and hoping) that Bungie will simply update the loot tables for some of those activities, but that would also mean that the difficulty would have to increase, so don't expect it to happen. Year one strikes and missions are tailored for year one weapons and gear. In the end, just dismantle any exotic you get that's not minimum 280 light. The shards you get are worth more.

1 ReplyThe prison of elders drops weapons only up to 170 light. The weapon you have is stuck at year one attack levels.

Stop buying Legacy Engrams. Legacy in this case means last year.

Keep it Obtain 150 legendary marks Go to kiosk and buy y2 version If there is a y2 version Jumps it up to 280-290 can't remember

3 RepliesYou are guaranteed an exotic on every character first time you do prison of elders with a key. It is a year 1 weapon, if you're lucky you got one that made it to year 2. So check the big ipads on the wall for the exotic weapons, you'll be able to buy it for 150 legendary marks if it is now a year 2 gun

Year 1 gear only drops from year one activities. P.S the gem is called an exotic shard, they were used to level up exotics in the past.

Only upgrade the great that has the Taken King logo in the top-right corner of the icon. Anything else is a waste of resources (unless you really want to use it in PvP).
