A couple of days ago I was watching the cut scenes about what does it mean to be a Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. It mention briefly what the vanguard though, but it was mostly about the new subclasses obviously, but it got me thinking real deep. What does it actually mean? For those people who love the lore behind this game and the guardian history I want to know what you think it means to be your main. I've been playing since the beta and I've mained a Titan since. I love my Titan I'm at my best and strongest when I'm playing him so I'll start of by what I think it means to be a Titan.
What does it mean to be a Titan?- Being the cornerstone of the city
As a Titan our history was forged from strength and sacrifice. The original Titans built the wall and the city ad gave there lives to defend it at Six Fronts. We carry the future of the city on our shoulders. We have a deeper understanding of the City more then any Hunter or Warlock. The dream our Forbearers had of the City is being threatened by the Darkness and its forces. We will not sit by and let the very place they gave there lives for be destroyed. The Darkness will show no mercy, so neither will we. We are not simple barbarians that think anything can be solved by shooting it or punching it. We are Defenders: Casting a indestructible barrier to keep everything safe and have nothing get by us. We are strikers: Turning our bodies into a electrical juggernaut to shatter the enemy ranks in a maelstrom of lighting. We are Sunbreakers: Unleashing fury of the sun we burn down our enemies defenses one Fallen, one Hive, one Vex, one Cabal, and one Taken at a time.-This is what I believe it means to be a Titan.

1 ReplyI'm actually the secret fourth class: Potato. What does it mean to be a Potato? It's about being a Potato.

What does it mean to be a warlock? Well, certainly no Hunter nor no Titan knows. But only the warlocks that have been through the worst scenario. They are scholars, teachers, students and warriors... They ask questions they already know the answers to, to make you think! They eliminate every threat they see! They are a sort of samurai, they can't show emotion, neither can the Titans or Hunters. They titans, hunters, civilians, even in the darkest time, their enemy. Now, go on young scholar, tell them what it means to be a warlock.

Edited by Blue: 10/25/2015 12:37:43 AMWhat does it mean to be a Titan? Having a job that no Warlock nor Hunter could ever understand. Hunters and Warlocks put the wall to their backs in search of purpose. Titans have already found theirs. They ARE the walls of the city. The only thing standing between the city and the Darkness is us Titans. And it's up to us to keep it that way. What does it mean to be a Warlock? Using the knowledge you have aquired and making something more of it. Bending the universe to your will. Use those abilities to push back the onslaight. But we have other motives, too. We warlocks think ahead for the better of the new Golden Age just around the corner. When the Hunters have their fights, and the Titans have their glory, and the Darkness is no more, the Warlock will be the ones leading us to the New Age. What does it mean to be a Hunter? Stalkers and killers, trained to combat the Darkness. But we aren't your usual Guardians. We're Hunters. We use the world around us to our advantage. That's what makes us who we are. But unlike Warlocks we have yet to find real purpose after this fight. But we got some real problems now. And it's up to us to meet it headfirst.

2 RepliesTo me, to be a hunter ... it means being as swift as a coursing river. With the force of a great typhoon. With all the strength of a raging fire while still being mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

" No its not that... Its... Hard to explain. " " How come? It can't be that hard " " You try do it then " " Fine, what do you want me to say? " " Tell me what it means to be a Hunter " " A hunter is like a leaf, free from its tree, lifted by the winds of ambition, a wandering soul in search for its purpose in a world that needs our help. He's not tied to anyone, yet feels the need to help everyone. We are nothing but a gust of hope... " " You're weird Ziro... Personally, I think to be a hunter means to be the laid back kinda guy (or girl) that is sorta introverted and doesn't really bring much attention to themselves, but they know that deep down inside of them they know the true extent of their power, and they can call upon it whenever they need to. Whether it's to just show someone up or to protect someone or something. I think that you should look out for the quiet kind of hunters, you never know how powerful they really are.... just a heads up.

I main a warlock cause I likes it. No deep explanation. I usally play the mage class in most all games, and I haven't regretted my decision.

I main Hunter, and I used to like them because I thought they were strong, but I have found my titan to be much stronger, however I could never draw away from my hunter. I have found that, much like the lore behind the hunters, I am much more of a solo player. Although I consider myself a serious player, I find myself rather running solo than playing raids with my friends sometimes. I thrive when I am away from the pack, and strive to be the "lone wolf." Because the hunter is not the tankiest, not the strongest, I find the most enjoyment from playing hunter. I work around the meta, either sneaking in the shadows, quick precision shots from a distance, or supporting those who rush for the front lines. I was not one of those who abused blink shotgun in crucible, not shadowshot in PvE, because it was when I played well by using guns and tactics outside the meta where I found the most reward and accomplishment. Additionally, when I play the hunter, I feel like a cowboy, a maverick, and a badass, where I don't with the other classes. I'm not saying that Hunter is the best class, because it isn't, but Hunters are the best class for me. It is the Hunter's versatility, stealth, and precision all wrapped up in one. It is the wolf who thrives outside the pack. It is the personality and lore behind the class. In fact, it is all of that which makes the Hunter unique from the other classes. THAT is what it means to be a Hunter.

I think that it depends on the Guardian and the player. Some of my insights... The Titan's reputation for toughness is well-deserved, but there is an element of fragility to him. Where a warlock can drain energy from a foe, and a hunter can render himself invisible and slip out of harm's way, a Titan must endure punishment until all threats are neutralized. A Hunter is a study in paradoxes. He is often typified as a loner, and yet he serves in a fireteam just like the other Guardians, and he gives his live to the service of the Traveler and the protection of the City. Though often regarded as unassuming, his cloak allows him a greater degree of flamboyance than other Guardians. Warlocks are the Indiana Joneses of the Destiny-verse: they are scholars, yes, you could easily imagine a warlock teaching a class of starry-eyed high schoolers about the coming of the Traveler and the Golden Age. And yet, it is equally easy to imagine one taking down a mob of oncoming Taken with a blast of Void light or a fearsome double fistful of lightning.

Interesting question BlackSteel! Ill be honest when I came across the video for the Stormcaller I also had the same kind of thought, what does it mean to me to main a lock. I have always felt like running a lock is about discipline and knowing when to use your knowledge of the three elements and when to stand back and let things unfold. It is about having a great deal of insight into the monsters and their habits and understanding what the most effective means to deal with them at a distance and up close and personal when needed. Ultimately I think being a warlock is mastering your relationship with your inner element and showing its true strength in your play style. Great posit, Cheers

Being a Hunter means we used to prowl the wasteland but due to the traveler we learned to survive we are the most accurate scouts and snipers and we take huge risks

Edited by Ice Lantern: 10/23/2015 4:29:18 AMWhat it means to be a Titan: - Being a Titan means you will be force-fed the "upclose and personal" playstyle despite not being given sufficient tools to play that way. - Being a Titan means you are used to being shortchanged when it comes to exotic armor. And with class-exclusive weapons now being a thing, you will be shortchanged in that department too. - Being a Titan means that you will be shortchanged in PvP. And when you are given a glimmer of hope, an oncoming nerf will ensure that you know your place in Crucible. - Being a Titan means you will be valued in raids. However, that also means that you will have little choice as to what subclass in what subclass you can play. - Being a Titan means that anything more than two inches away from your noise will be out of reach.
