Fighting Game Fans?
Just looking to see how many people here are hardcore fighting game fans and are willing to drop hours into 1 character mastering and extending the combos for said character, and I'm also trying to he a convo going about fighting games and such

Sports/fighting games like UFC(MMA) and fight night(Boxing). I know both sports well and I like the slower (still fast) pace/movement in comparison to the more arcade fighters. I do enjoy other fighters like mortal combat and dragon ball, but definitely not enough to pay full price. Part of my reasoning is I dislike people that just spam, and I notice that arcade fighters don't games don't penalize as much for that. [spoiler]arcade fighters is the correct term, right?[/spoiler]

I do play a large variety of fighting games however. To this day. The only one I purposely avoid is street fighter. It doesn't appeal to me. Closest I get to street fighter is marvel vs capcom or the occasional playing as Ryu in smash bros.

1 ReplyPlayed all street fighters and still think 3rd strike is the most balanced fighting game. Playing MKX now and loving it... Very few fighters compared to shooter fans. I believe it's because fighting games require more hand/eye coordination than any genre on consoles

1 ReplyI've gotten a taste for the high-combo low-damage types. Picked up UMvC3 and had no idea what I was doing. Got my ass handed to me by a friend who figured out which button to spam hardest but otherwise also had no idea. Then I picked up Skullgirls and learned how to play. Still my favorite fighter there. Went back to UMvC and now can play it reasonably well. Still learning. Nowhere near competitive, but when the stars align and I get another shitty player, I can sometimes beat them online. :D And of course, Smash Bros. everyone plays Smash Bros.
