Just curious. If you see someone who has made a pretty clear "off topic" thread and they have tags applied that "don't apply" (for example #feedback), what do you do, if anything?
Me? That seems to be a perfect call for a dislike. Nothing too harsh, but maybe it does something good.
If I notice a particular person who is frequently and consistently (which to me add up to deliberately) adding tags that are not applicable.. then I consider a hide. What about you? Any peeves about improper tagging or you don't really care, especially now that things are just sorting themselves out?

Yeah, I see people want to get their topics in as many tags as they can. With the thought that people not searching for that"thing" will still see it. I don't see that working out well for their efforts. I'm still figuring it out yet, so for me to try to police it with dislikes or hides is more work then just flying right by it. It's gonna have an adverse effect eventually. If I were to make a thread I'd personally want to tag it with the most direct tag(s) as possible. Maybe less people see it, but more woulld be looking for that thing in particular meaning probably a better conversation. More is not always better.

If Bungie want to introduce tags, then they're going to get their goddamn tags. #YOLO #SWAG

3 RepliesCan you edit tags as a Ninja?
-
2 RepliesHonestly? I hardly look at the tags. Not ready to get into all of thy just yet.
-
11 RepliesDo you consider #spartainken15 and #sk15 inappropriate? Because it is a thread made by me and it makes it easy for people looking for threads made by me.
-
6 RepliesI also use the dislike and hide feature. Members often just put every tag they can think of when they create a thread, and not necessarily appropriate ones. During the first day I saw a lot of inappropriate hashtags, but today seems much more promising.
-
I don't do anything, stuff keeps on coming to the top of my forum even though I don't follow any of the hashtags in it. This new layout confuses me. I just keep on rolling!

4 RepliesIs this a veiled plea to get us to HIDE posts we see as being intentional misuse of the tags so that further repercussions may take place? I have only noticed one person doing this habitually so far, and have not hidden any of their posts as of yet. They are for the most part just stupid and non toxic.
-
Hmm, I forgot about the dislike feature. I'll do that.

5 RepliesIf mods can still edit posts, can't you guys change the tags?

5 RepliesSpeaking of inappropriate hashtag use, this thread is clearly not off-topic. We are talking about this forum, the community, and its users. That is totally on-topic and relevant to this site.
-
but...but more hashtags means more people will see my post >.>/

I normally go for the Hide. If I want to see the most Popular #Community threads of the week, I don't want to see an #offtopic thread I had Disliked earlier. Same with Debated threads, really.

2 RepliesEdited by Xozha: 1/12/2013 11:13:23 PMI'm honestly surprised that your first reaction isn't perma ban. ;)

3 RepliesIt doesn't annoy me that much, but I see how it could be irritating. It would be cool if we could vote on tags, so if there was something incorrectly labeled (for example "off topic" labeled #feedback) people could dislike the tag, and if enough people disliked it the tag could be removed. Or the thread could be removed from your personal #feedback, which gives the user more control over their experience and removes the possibility of coordinated tag removing.
-
3 RepliesBack in my day, you'd get a 3 day ban for that.
-
1 ReplyBan them! OT: I don't really notice.

Back in my day, you got a warning and your title downgraded.
-
I figure it's inevitable. I'm not going to hide anyone for doing it.

Edited by EDOET: 1/12/2013 11:14:05 PMCan't really muster up any reason to care. It's not really affecting me that much so there's no reason for me to respond to it. I just ignore it manually.

I just follow the default tags, so I see everything anyways.
