I think you're correct. It's easy to enjoy a game, pump 100 hours into it, and still see it as a disappointment. If it takes you that long to come to a decision as far as whether you liked it or not, so be it. Games aren't movies, so people who make that argument are clueless. A good game isn't successful because of sales; it's successful if it retains players. Destiny failed to do that in any great number. Every person reading this knows the truth...that most of their 15 or 20 or 25 friends that used to play this have moved on. All that's left are the ultra-hardcore, OCD obsessed players who don't stay because of enjoyment, but rather because they have succumbed to a borderline addiction. The truth is, this argument can never be settled until another Destiny comes out, and we see whether or not people remember just how bad this one is. Activision will come up with a lot of creative spin to convince you they've made big changes, but I'm sure nothing will. That's why it will be a frosty Friday in hell before I ever fall for their marketing hype again. I'll be watching to see how this game evolves before I ever give them another dime.

I think it's one of the greatest games ever made and tons of fun. I also think it's game 1 in a new IP and has a lot of room to improve.

I can't say any other game has disappointed me nearly this much in its failed potential to be absolutely stunning and truly revolutionary. I thin part of the problem was catering to last gen, among many others.

Nope. I've enjoyed it since day 1. So so sooooo many more disappointing games. Aliens colonial marines Dead island/riptide Duke nukem forever Battlefield 4 - got all those on release days and felt nothing but regret from the get go. Destiny is a pretty good game really. Thus why you are here on the destiny forums and everyone else who still plays/cares is here.

It had great potential but bungie dropped the ball. I don't think anything but remaking the game could fix it.

It took me awhile to realize I was blinded buy the idea there was a lot of content and to accept the fact Bungie screwed up this time. It was an amazing idea but it was terribly executed

This game reminds me of the Transformers movies. As time progresses you hope it will get better but just gradually declines lol. At least it will look amazing while doing so lol

As I'm about to hit 1000 hours on destiny I feel as I'll give my opinion (whether people like it or not) about this game. Leading up to buying destiny, I never knew anything about it. All I knew was thAt Bungie and activision were together and that sounded like an interesting match up. About a week after launch, I traded in a few games I didn't play anymore, and wound up buying destiny on a whim. I started playing and instantly loved it. The gameplay is smooth and it just flows excellently. I enjoyed the little story there was, and yearned to find out more. As if hit level 20, I began my mission of grinding strikes. After about a day of this, I began to grow tired of the game and wondered how I could continue. I also learned that destiny didn't have in game chat, which really hindered my fun since I didn't have any friends on Xbox live that played destiny. A few days later I had 2 guys in a strike randomly invite me to a party. I joined and quickly became friends with them. Afterwards, they introduced me to 2 other people they knew and we quickly had a nice group that we all played with. This renewed the game for me, and pushed me through about 500 more hours of gameplay. Now it's just me and one other friend who play consistently, and we've played probably 700 hours together. I understand that people who were avid followers of this game were probably horribly disappointed by its release. Although the story aspect isn't a huge deal to me, I'd like to take a few minutes to discuss the elements of this game (or lack thereof) that grind my gears. 1. More cutscenes and story would've been optimal, and maybe this will change with upcoming DLC and new installments (such as destiny 2) 2. Everything is based off of RNG loot. I've never liked this. I think all exotic weapons should be tied to bounties. All I've ever wanted is Gjallarhorn and cannot get it but I had a buddy with less than 100 hours get it. Doing a bounty system or quest line system would make the weapon for more fair to receive. 3. No in game matchmaking or lfg option for raids. This one baffles me to this day. Bungie was incredibly lazy by not adding in a system and forcing you to use their forums (which so many people don't know about) or third party websites (which so many people don't know about). I've played MMOs with pure random matchmaking and have gotten through raids that are 20x harder than these. As long as they implemented it correctly, it could be done. Also, people don't realize that it would be optional, so elitist can sit down now and don't even bother speaking. 4. Catering to casuals. Now before you call ME and elitist, let me explain. Vanguard gear should've never out ranked VOG gear. After dlc dropped, you had people buying their way to 31 and then trying to join Crota's end and they've never raised before. They should fix the RNG system, and make it so you need to progress through each raid to get to the next one. 5. I want to be preemptive on that last one and have a chat with PVP players before some of them jump down my throat. No one cares that you would have to actually play the end game content (like your supposed to) to hit max level. PVP is not a central basis in this game. PvE is the core. Be happy they hand you hear in iron banner, and sometimes that gear IS max level. PVP is a gimmick, learn that and stop acting like this is a COD based system. Overall I'm happy with destiny, I'm started to play less and less but I still do my weeklies and nightfalls. I still try the raid. I just have horrible luck with groups and none of them can complete HM crota. I can see destiny's shortcomings but I can also see its potential, and THATS what keeps me around. The most disappointing thing about Destiny is its lack of content. So very repetitive. Doing the same level mission for the umpteenth time. Same strikes over and over and over again. That is so disappointing.

halo 4. My god did 343 -blam!- that up. I traded that in to get Destiny and I don't even regret it. That's how much I hated halo 4. COD ghost was also disappointing. That game made me leave COD.
