Can you think of a game that ever disappointed you more than Destiny has with its freemium/RNG bullshit loot, lack of content, repetitiveness/grindfest, inexcusable bugs, and laughable story?
I can't. I've put a lot of time in, because it was still fun early on to play with friends. But now almost all of us despise this game. And with what's planned for the future, nothing looks like it's going to change.
We all had sky high hopes, bought in to the hype, but this game is pretty terrible. Pretty and controls well, but it's a bad bad game.
Anything else close to this disappointing for you?
EDIT: People love to cite my play time as some kind of argument that the game can't be that disappointing. Here is an answer to that:
Did I have a lot of fun?
Yes - in the beginning. Early progression and playing with friends was fun for a while. The loot slot machine had me addicted as well.
Did I feel my money was well spent?
I'm conflicted here. Clearly I put a lot of time in, so there is some value in that. But I feel like the money I spent sent a very wrong message to Bungievision - that what they did was OK and people will buy anything. That worries me.
Did you put in more hours then most games?
Yes I did.
When new content arrives will I play?
NO WAY IN HELL. I preordered the expansion pass, so I will check out the new raid in HoW. But after that I won't spend another dime on this game unless massive fundamental changes are made.
There's no doubt the universe they created is very compelling, but the execution so far has been so piss poor that I refuse to encourage more of the same by giving them any more money, UNLESS things change in a big way.

No. I can honestly say this is the biggest dissapointment in terms of games I've ever suffered through. I'm eagerly anticipating the next good title so I can rid myself of this shitty game.

Content coming out in a 10 year span and 10 years worth of content at release are 2 different things..

How do people live while experiencing such a bizarre roller coaster of emotions?

Halo 4 was pretty disappointing

A disappointing game isn't fun with or without friends. You don't put time into a disappointing game. You don't post on forums about a disappointing game. Be Real.

Edited by BlackChild1101: 2/5/2015 1:44:22 AMThe title of "Most Disappointing Game" does NOT belong to Destiny. That esteemed award goes too... Enter The Matrix for the PS2. Half-way through the game you experience a system crashing bug that renders the game and your CONSOLE unplayable! Smh.

Well originally bungie actually had a laid out plan that was meant to span 10 years. Destiny had a story that intertwined the PvP with the story. They had the RNG loot system set up for good reasons. They were going to release a open FPS with MMO and RPG aspects. Then activision walked in and hired their own people. DESTINY ORIGINAL STORY You wake up in a unknown location that varied on your race. You travel to the tower and meet the speaker, he tells you of the traveler, its battle and your role in all of this. He sends you out to reclaim key locations on varied planets with varied locations. (This was meant to open the world and introduce the universe). SECOND GAME After reclaiming the key locations you are then sent out to obtain information from the computer systems in these areas. While looking for lost golden age intelligence you meet a group of ex-guardians. You follow them back to their base were you confront them and question them. They tell you of a holed age were the traveler was not a protecter but a killer and the speaker its minion to spread lies of the traveler. Your learn the darkness is a spawn of the traveler to stop it from destroying our worlds and way of life. So you decide to play double agent and spy on the speaker/last city on earth. THIRD AND FINAL GAME After a couple of years you have recruited a good sized group of guardians and plan to attack the city. After breaking the the wall you attack and kill the speaker. You (unexplained) obtain the power of the darkness and fight the traveler. (A final boss battle was to take place but was not sent into detail). EXCESS POINTS OF INTEREST throughout the game you can join factions, raids, strikes, fire teams, clans, and other untold fun. Factions were originally set up as six different groups that you could join. They each had their own motive and rewards. You could only join one. Raids were meant to take at lease 4 hours and require tight communication. Strikes were a lesser version of raids for people on a tighter schedule. Fire teams were meant to to a group of friend (more then 3) to get together and roam the waste lands if the golden age. Clans were designed to get larger groups together and bring players to bungie.net CAUTION THIS IS ALL THEORY Sparrow races were supposed to be available, along with space ship races. Betting on said races and card games/gambling. Trading was also speculated to be implemented into the game. ALL INFORMATION WAS OBTAINED THROUGH A CLOSED PRE-ALPHA BUNGIE WORKER, VARIED INTERVIEWS AND EXCESS SORCES. Activision came in and decided to cut up the game implement their own workers and terminate Marty-O- Donald along with the lead story writer leaving with out explanation. NOTE- the work size on destiny was half of halos designers and twice the size of the original group that worked on halo 1-3.

Gears judgment. What a joke
-
Final Fantasy VII is easily the most disappointing game ever.
-
Did you play WatchDogs? Or CoD: AW? Or XCOM: The Bureau? Or any number of other games that are far more disappointing?
-
That honor goes to Assassin's Creed Unity.
-
Titanfall really really disappointed me. I was so hype for it. Looked good, but fell flat of what I thought it was going to be as a whole.

Opinions the post everyone

Cod Ghost worst and most disappointing game ever.
-
I came into the game knowing right away that the game would be different from the first time I play it, to what it'll be in say 2 years. And no, the most lackluster game I've played was a PS2 game from years back.
-
Actually the most disappointing game is Watch Dogs and if you ever played it you would understand. Destiny might have been disappointing but it is NOT the most. Plus Destiny is a good game and extremely fun to play and definitely one of my favourite games.

I have been lucky in the games I have bought. Nothing has disappointed me. This game did. Bungie hyped their game. Not us. I did my research. Read the interviews, watched the vids. I played the beta, gave feed back. Expected more to it. Not much. No story in the game to make me feel like I was becoming legend. No tools in it to find parties or players to do the stuff that has no matchmaking. I have collected so much crap in my inventory. Do they have any idea what we should do with all of it? I gave up. Moved on. Playing a better game. It has stories, a multiplayer lobby. I can craft with my inventory crap. Build my own weapons. It's great. I have the pass for Destiny. I will be back. Spend a couple of days with all the content. Then leave this behind. Start playing another game. It makes you feel better.

I asked your parents, they said you.

Edited by InsaneIntheBrain: 2/5/2015 1:11:23 AMA massive disappointment, yes. Nonetheless, still a damn good game.
-
But I'm not disappointed
-
I really had no expectations when it came to destiny so can't really be disappointed too much in the game. Not sure if that is smart or sad on my part.......
-
Skyrim was pretty disappointing to be honest.
-
At 400 hours played, either you are lying, or haven't played very many video games.
