Think about all the complaints you see with strike matchmaking. Do you really think raid matchmaking will be any better? I think there will be more Complaints because there's more commitment to a raid than a strike
I think it would be hilarious. I would go into matchmaking and troll the ish outta people
Are you REALLY SURE you want matchmaking?
Edit 2: wow, 300+ replies. Getting mostly no, a few yes
Some people are asking, why don't you want it? Just don't use it.
Here are my thoughts.
Think of it like taxes. We bought the game, we're contributing to the devs pay checks. I'd rather that they spend their time making something cool or fixing something, rather than making something that is doomed to fail.
Most people that have trouble putting together their own groups either don't have mics (which you don't want on your team, more than likely), or aren't experienced or skilled (again, undesirable)
Another thought: how does hosting work? If someone trolls, what can you do aside from quit? Some want kicking. Who gets that power? What if you get kicked because you don't have icebreaker or gjallarhorn?
One more: what about checkpoints, how do they work? Have to start fresh? Choose your own? Then people would just MM for Atheon hard mode, which would be even worse.
Edit 3: here's a poll

I hate doing raids with new people.

Why would complaints bother me if I don't care to read them in the forum? I'm always for giving gamers more options for us to choose from, rather than others making that choice for me. I don't need you or others to decide what works for me.
-
They did the same thing in WoW and it worked out fine. It allowed casual and non guilders players to reach a little of the high end gear this making them more acceptable to guilds since the guild would have to spend time gearing them up. But people in the big guilds with regular players they knew and worked with before were still required to reach the top level stuff.

1 ReplyEdited by SuperOmegaAlpha: 1/12/2015 5:37:03 PMIdk I would feel people will try to afk through the raid like the strikes
-
i would prefer that they just add something to the game like a chat bar in the tower that people can spam for groups, like trade chat in wow, sounds stupid but that shit works IMO. With the small 6 man raid groups in destiny there would always be people making groups and they would fill up fast, and people wouldnt have to worry about glimmer traffickers because there is no trade system. Also the people who play games like this are hilarious, i could imagine the insane shit some people would type, and it would make it easier for roleplayers to get together and do their thing.

I would say no to raid match making but yes for NF and Weekly.

Edited by Tort78: 1/12/2015 5:16:32 PMThere was a guy a while ago on reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2jchvb/i_decided_to_create_a_ui_concept_based_on_this/ that came up with the idea of having an icon in the tower over your character saying what you are looking for: VoG Hard, Crota, Nightfall, Strikes, Crucible etc. Even had graphics showing what it would look like. I could see something like this working since you could scope out potential teammates by inspecting them before having them join/joining them. It could also eliminate the random "Play Destiny" requests with no idea of what the person wants to do. The thing is this is Bungie's PRODUCT. Right now they have a lot of their customers going outside of their "world" to find ways to play an integral part of their product. This means they have zero control over that experience, which is not a good long term strategy. There are some very simple fixes they could probably incorporate into the game to assist in matching people up and still keep most people happy. Recruitment forums are just a Band-Aid and shouldn't be seen as a solution since only a percentage of people playing probably visit here. There should to be a way in-game to find people outside of your friend's list to do activities. Edit: wrong link corrected

The option wouldnt be a bad thing. I mean, people that dont like dont have to use it. The bad thing about it mostly, is that people that try soloing something wont be able to because the game will look for a team for them.
-
Only if its optional. Even then, I'd prefer LFG.
-
I don't want traditional matchmaking, but some sort of in game LFG would be great. They could even partner with one of the popular LFG sites, and link it into the game.
-
-blam!- no. Matchmaking leads to casuals bitching about the difficulty of the raid, raid is made easier/easier level is introduced, the need for community/communication dies killing the limited community that exists.
-
Yeah, We do. Most MMOs support a LFG/LFM type of dialogue for your character to be flagged. It can be done while in the tower or just in general in a LFG type of system. You can then go bounty or do whatever while you wait on an invite. It wouldn't be hard just seems wrong to let the community pick up this slack. I just think Bungie didn't have time and didn't want to spend the dollars of building this in game seeing how it would have to be different from their existing MM system. Its obvious though - at some point in the game most people are going to know how to run these raids. In most MMOs I have played I rarely have problems with new comers... They usually catch on if they can perform decent in DPS and hold their own.
-
I'd like it if it's done right. If it's done like me3 mp it would great
-
We're kinda matchmaking on our own already. Everyone just heads to this forum or subsequent ones and finds five others for the raid or 2 for the weeklys; so why not incorporate it in some way in the game
-
I dont agree with adding matchmaking, I wish they would add some sort of social feature to the game, like an in-game LFG, or an icon that appear by your name in the tower that shows people you want to meet people for the raid Im not sure of the best option, I just dont think matchmaking is the solution
-
noes. cuz raids done wit matchmake are not legit.
-
3 RepliesYes. Here's why; At first I thought the idea was stupid. But honestly, going on the forums and looking for random people. Isn't it the same as matchmaking? Especially if it's the same as the one for the ROC playlist (usually gives you people your level) this would be great and very convenient for most people.
-
-
People need to drop the term "Matchmaking" and start using LFG Interface or something like that. Matchmaking will never work for raids and there's a reason games dont do it. Games do have a user interface to find more people for a given event etc.
-
-
Normal Mode: Sure Hard Mode: No Matchmaking also needs to come to the Nightfall & Weekly.
-
ya it would be cool and if i get a tard or someone who is trying to tell me how to do the raid when im more experienced then that 12 yr old then ill leave the raid simple as that...
-
Absolutely 100% NO. There will be people who can't spell the word raid in there. Not to mention all the AFK'ers and those who can only game for 30 minutes at a time.
