Wow. This game. I remember grinding about 10 ish weeks and 300 hours before my hunter ever got his 30 gear (week of 2nd iron banner from raid). I did the raid each week on all 3 characters on hard and put in so much work to finally be 30
Anybody else in this boat seeing 30 and 31s with blue weapons, never completing a raid, and having no idea what theyre doing in every game mode?
I dont care if theyre level 30 or 31 honestly, I care that now more than ever im being put with people that are nowhere near my skill level and can't distinguish between garbage and quality so now I carry nearly every team I play with.
Edit 1- for all those saying they have 30-50 hours on their 30/31 characters, yes we all can do that because we have several characters. This was his only character, can any you say you have less than that total on this game?
Edit 2- for those saying it was his second character it wasnt- if you view gamecard it shows total hours on that game for their specific gamertag. And for those saying he mightve still been good but didnt have enough weapons, he had 7 kills and used a pulse rifle on the mars strike.

2 RepliesWho cares? Just play your game. Stop worrying and inspecting other players.

1 ReplyIt's all relative. How long did it take you to reach level 29? Level 30 is the new level 29.

2 RepliesEdited by ImSoLancey: 1/5/2015 8:24:34 PMMy alt 31 only has like 12 or 13 hours I think. I had gear saved for him in my vault. I only intend on using him for NF and raids he will never have that many hours

2 RepliesEdited by kRiMiTsp: 1/5/2015 8:21:11 PMMy alt(titan) got to 31 in 23 hours, while my main character (warlock) is still 30 and has 140+ hours under his belt. Def something awry about that.

3 RepliesAnd? I have not even 48 hours play time and I'm nearing 31. I transferred all my gear over to a new character because I was fed up of looking at my old one. Who's to say he didn't do this?
-
i have 21 hours played on my Hunter and its already level 30, meanwhile when the game released, i made a Titan and Warlock, left the 3rd space open just cause i wasnt sure about Hunters, i deleted the Warlock and ended up making 3 Titans cause i couldnt get ish from the VOG and thought thats how i needed to do it, kinda sucks you can hit 31 without even entering the VOG
-
Same. It's so annoying, especially when people don't understand how the game works
-
I have been playing since day 1 and I have about the same time and I am also 31...I just play about an hour a day and take some good days off
-
yeah, I have just over 12 days of game time put into my main character and I'd wager the first 9 of those were me trying to get to level 30. It definitely pains me to see people with fewer than 100 hours marching around at my level and messing up my raids and strikes with the incompetence they have due to the fact that they haven't played the game enough to acquire the skill necessary to stay alive for a few minutes.

Had a random help me on the thorn bounty, XYOR. Now I have my ice breaker vision and hunger of crota and ready to -blam!- shit up, now my team mate (level 31) has all rare weapons.. WTF?!

1 ReplyHow long did it take you to reach 29 the first time? Probably about the same. If you care about distinguishing old from new, look at grimoire score.
-
2 RepliesMy recommendation would be instead of continuously playing with randoms, find good players or groups or clans and add them. I've accumulated enough friends in my 300+ hours of playing that I hardly need to find randoms anymore. Every good player you find, befriend them. Unless you just suck and they don't want to play with you, then you're sol

1 ReplyIt's the game trying to get people more involved with the dlc. You can literally buy the game and be level 31 in like 2 days, where as pre patch we all worked our asses off doing VOG on hard to hit 30. At least I did without cheese :|

It's possible I got a 30 in no time

10 RepliesSHUT THE -blam!- UP AND GET OVER YOURSELF!

6 RepliesEdited by falcon8117: 1/5/2015 7:22:07 PMI'm a 31 with 84 hours. I'm a college student and I don't bring my ps4 to college with me. During the fall semester, I came home twice after destiny came out for Fall and Thanksgiving breaks. I got to level 24 during Thanksgiving weekend, before TDB came out. Once I came home for Christmas break, the expansion came out and I beat the story. After that, I completed bounties for new monarchy and Eris rep, played strikes, played crucible like it was my job and grinded IB for silimar's wrath. I didn't play VoG until level 29 because I couldn't get a group of 6 together at any given time (didn't know about lfg site until after I beat VoG actually). At that point, I had maxed out new monarchy gear and couldn't find a legendary helmet (didn't want to grind for 2 weeks for a crucible commendation and make my way back to 150 marks when I could potentially get one in VoG) and didn't get one during VoG. I bought a Xur engram afterwards and got the glasshouse (I'm a titan btw). Once I maxed that out, I got to 30. Once I got to 30, I played CE and got the raid gauntlets and chest armor. After the reset, I played it again and got the greaves. The rest is history and now I'm 31, needing a shit ton of shards to get to 32. I don't exactly suck (not great either, I would say I'm average). There are sometimes extenuating circumstances that keep you from playing as much as you want. This just shows that you can get to 31 without hundreds of hours of grinding. Don't judge if you don't know the backstory! Oh, and this is my only character BTW.
-
Teach them the raid, they are probably new to the game and gotten the DLC which leads them to reaching 30 much easier but they still need a lot of shards ect and they still have to grind. So what if they spend less time getting to high levels? in the end you know that you have put more time into destiny and probably have like x100 of what's in their vault.

kick the noobs, problem solved

2 RepliesKind of like the automatic 90 people get in wow for pre ordering, it's just how the games work.
-
1 ReplyWhere do you see the hours played please ?
-
If this was pc only, this argument never would have came up.
-
3 RepliesAnd who cares? Before the dlc u could get to 29 in this time

1 ReplyI always tell the team I am on what my skill level is like. It isn't much, lol. Very early this morning - me and another 31 Warlock I recently befriended went into VOG with some guys that invited us from The Tower. The 4 of them were experienced raid guys. My friend was totally new to console games and brought her Warlock up by grinding like hell. The same as me. I told them that I only did it to the end once on normal mode. We took a stab at hard mode but that was too much so went in on normal. They were super patient with me and her and total gentlemen with my friend. They helped her by slowly explaining what to do. It was great and just one more reminder why I love Destiny so very much. It is the community out there brother. Having nice people that help so much is a blessing to players like us. While they were young - she is in her mid forties with arthritis in her hands and I am 54 with carpal tunnel. Yet we got to finish it and revel in the accomplishment.

I picked up the game the day it came out. Ran VoG normal 3 times and was level 30 then ran hard a few times and had most of the weapons. That rng though.

2 RepliesYea dude that shit pisses me off. came across a couple people who played the game a week and are alrdy at end game meanwhile I had to spend months to get to Lvl 30. Makes me feel like my time was wasted only thing that makes me feel better is that I've got alot of exotics and legendaries lol
