I've been thinking about this and after playing Moon today I become concerned. Will each planet simply be a section to explore and that's it? What happened to open world exploration and stuff like that? It's not exactly that open world when it's just a section to be honest.

20 RepliesEdited by Derezzed: 7/29/2014 1:50:11 AMI think it has been confirmed that you will be able to visit atleast 6 locations over the course of the story. Venus Earth The Moon Mars Europa (One of Jupiter's Moons) - Not confirmed The Cassini (Derelict spaceship near Saturn) - Not confirmed. I think out of them Earth is the most likely to have more than one zone as it is the most familiar to the players. It has been speculated we could be visiting: European Deadzone Mumbai Push Old Russia - Confirmed Old Chicago Twilight Gap - (Edit - This has been confirmed as a PVP map, set near the tower) Perhaps people have too much expectation of Bungie. It can't be the best co-op shooter, competitive multiplayer game, MMORPG, Open World and Space Combat Sim that everyone wants.

3 Replies"What you see, you can go anywhere", bungie said. Well I see where I want to go, but can't go. So idk it just a beta or what?
-
1 Replylooking at earth the Russia map isnt that big, but what makes it interesting are all the different (closed) areas. combine all of this and you have a nice area to explore with different environments (bunker, caves, ship, outside landscape) http://i.imgur.com/g0fJgTC.jpg (follow the path of forgotten shores to the ?? mobs) http://i.imgur.com/uyvWu31.jpg (entrance bunker ras-2 ?) maybe exploring the area around the colony ship, and the ship itself http://i.imgur.com/g4hl9YC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KORHki0.jpg and then all the doors which are blocked by the black shadow. and in episode 6 they will discover a Stargate, oops that was a spoilert alert i think :-)

8 RepliesDefinitely explored the whole moon in like 35 mins. This is starting to bother me. There better be MULTIPLE zones like this on each planet or this will have ZERO replay value and be a short lame game although it's fun it better be MUCH bigger
-
22 RepliesDoes anybody realize that there will be more than one map for all of the planets and moons.
-
2 RepliesHey guys it still in beta who knows what's next for when the real game comes out ;-)
-
1 ReplyAgreed, when Bungie said exploration I thought it meant something else besides free roam in story maps.

2 RepliesEdited by Hyperp0w3r: 7/27/2014 5:11:46 AMyeah it isn't exactly open world...and tbh the hype for this game really disappointed me.
-
2 RepliesIs ther going to be an in game map call out when traveling around locations?. I was on the Moon and went deep into some place but had no clue where I was and how to get out if it was not for the fact I had the main story as the locater be can. Some kind of drop be-com or map thing would be good.

9 RepliesEach planet is going to have about the same playspace as the playspace in all of halo reach

Edited by Osiris: 7/27/2014 4:38:54 AMMe and a fireteam of friends got lost in the moon. We spent a good portion of time trying to get back to the surface.

Are you guys serious? This is the Beta. Maybe if you just played the story missions and didn't explore the maps you would think they are small. These maps are huge and they didn't even let us into a big portion of them. This is Hours and hours of gaming. It's an MMO It will be updated all the time.
-
Yes, there is one explore mode to per planet. I don't recall them every promising it to be FULL open world. That was just theories. As it stands, there's quite a bit of content to keep us involved.
-
6 RepliesYes this is 10 % of the whole game. And did you find the giant crater on the other side of the job from the mission? My fire team was down there for almost 2 hours.

awe I love my fans woot

I've been reading these posts for so long and basically, I would be satisfied with the game if they just had big areas with a variety of terrain, mountains, climb-able buildings, cave systems, and much more. Hopefully just not the flat land with lots of kill boundaries as seen in Old Russia.
-
4 RepliesThis is a limitation being on last gen systems. I can expect more with destiny 2. But ya I can see your plight.
-
I see your point and we won't know until release, but the meat I think will be what Bungie do in those maps max level. Better PVE events, new enemies, new missions etc.
-
Each planets have multiple sections.
-
2 Repliesheres an idea go back to CoD those r some open mps for ur asses to explore...haha
-
1 ReplyRemember that the Alpha was less than 10%, the Beta was a sliver more. What excites me is seeing all the closed doors in the Beta and wondering what's on the other side.
-
I'm also concerned, as that is what it currently looks like...
-
1 ReplyVenus is going to be my new home. I'm dying to explore it.
-
9 RepliesConsidering we haven't seen even half of old Russia, and seeing about a third of the moon (pure speculation, kinda tallying closed doors and blocked off passages), plus like 6 other planets... I'm not worried. Not to mention there will most likely be other areas to explore on earth (and even other planets) due to us being exposed to old Chicago, Mumbai push, and other regions.... I'd say we'll have a lot to work with.

9 RepliesEdited by skittlez86: 7/27/2014 1:54:05 AMthank you for saying this i fell like i will never have to go to old Russia again because it's so small and linear nothing to find or see (and i don't fell like i have to say this yes i know it's a beta, yes i know about the ??? enemies i been past them not much to see any ways)
