If Datto is attempting a single boss kill on Hunter for over 10 hours and can't get it done, how do you expect normal people who play Hunter to survive during the final boss of Vespers Host?
While on stream I asked Datto how long he had been on the boss for, he said "over 10 hours across multiple days, just trying to get a kill on the boss not even solo flawless". I was there when he GAVE UP.
Hunters for a while now have had issues with survivability outside of kill triggers, Vespers Host however has put a magnifying glass on this issue.
Hunters should not need a specific weapon (VS velocity baton) with a specific roll (attrition orbs) to have comparable survivability to the other classes. That is completely ridiculous. Datto said it took him 2 attempts to get solo flawless on warlock and titan. He can't even get a boss kill on hunter. A day one raider, a famous streamer, a person who's JOB it is to play this game can't even get it done. In his guide to soloing the dungeon he straight up said "Don't use hunter".
I was able to solo flawless Vesper's Host, but I had to be completely perfect in my run and do loadout swaps during DPS. I had to rely completely on a heal clip weapon for survivability. The other two classes can roam around without too much worry while Hunter has to put in 10 times as much effort as the other classes. That is an issue in balancing and Hunter needs a buff in the survivability department.
BUFF HUNTER SURVIVABILITY IN PVE. WORMHUSK IS THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A KILL AND IT IS GARBAGE. PLEASE GIVE HUNTERS SOME KIND OF PASSIVE HEALING LIKE THE OTHER TWO CLASSES HAVE. PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU.

I mean HE wanted crafting to go away and for challenging content, he got his wish and now look where we are, RNG weightgate (this is why making our own guns is better, because then we don't have stuff like that happening...), dungeon boss being ridiculous (compared to rest of the dungeon that can be managed ez), bugs / error codes (bungo turning off tether because it causes guitar error LOL)

Vesper’s host final boss is really tedious with a team I can’t fathom ever doing it solo,specially as a hunter.

Hunters should get something that does life steal similar to what something like warlocks void buddy does but on steroids basically. Playing hunter feels terrible as they do nothing really well except single target boss damage but that only matters if the boss sits still like Oryx or The Witness and have a massive crit spot. Hunters should be dealing the most single target damage of any of the classes regardless of what enemy it is. Titans shouldn't really be out doing them in both AoE and single target Melee damage. Also almost all hunters are relegated to Celestial Golden Gun because all their other supers are either roaming or deal terrible damage. Basically they need to buff mobius quiver and gathering storm. Give hunters some aspect for life stealing for survivability, titans got a flat buff to their basic melee to play into the class fantasy now Hunter needs something similar to that for its class identity.

They’ve nerfed hunters into the ground. I know everyone says PvP and PvE are seperate but it doesn’t feel that way. Every weekend trials runs the whining about hunters begins…. Then come the changes and before you know it, dps becomes sub par. I just don’t think the nerfs don’t have an effect.

2 Replieslol becuase the normal person isn’t going to solo a dungeon and wasn’t meant to. If the normal person could solo dungeons what would make it special enough to warrant an emblem. No everyone is meant to complete everything in the game and that’s a good thing there need to be something to work really hard towards

1 ReplyIMO hunter survivability and damage is only really a problem in vespers because of all the hoops you have to jump through to do good damage AND survive In general PvE hunter is an amazing option with great damage, so I think its just this niche that makes hunter seem dogshit

31 RepliesHunters are the mobility class. Stealth and speed right. Bullshit. Hunters have become the slowest, weakest class with jackshit for options. PvP especially. I’m getting lit up by players that have useful abilities that actually do damage. Pve almost no healing.

Not everything should be soloable. This is a big problem of this game and a trap the devs set for themselves and now every class needs to have that same tool to solo everything, making the game bland as hell. The good thing is mister "we are so op now" Datto was taking a beating and giving up. It serves well to that soylent -blam!-.

Edited by Hippo: 11/1/2024 2:36:16 PMI have to half agree, the last time my Hunter actually felt strong enough to solo end game as easily as the other classes in content was when we had the classy restoration artifact perk. I only half agree because Hunters by default are not meant to face tank everything, they are a stealth/precision class so yes in terms of healing/defence they arent meant to be on the same level as Warlocks or Titans, with that said both Warlocks and Titans have the survivability and the damage so it makes Hunters feel totally imbalanced when compared, its the damage Hunters are now lacking, at base anyway without stacking buffs etc.

I've done it solo on my hunter and plan to do it flawless, but yeah it does seems disproportionately harder on hunter from watching other people. Once vs batton attrition orbs gets nerfed I'm not sure what us less skilled players will do to survive. Tether might be helpful, but oh shoot it's still not enabled.*insert rant*. It wouldn't be so bad if there was trash enemies around to keep restoration/devour, but taking the time to kill the mini bosses just so you can take a single shot at the main boss then hurry up and kill another mini boss to keep up any healing is a tough deal. In general I'd say it's worth pushing for big damage and less phases then playing super safe with 8 phases because just one mistake and it's all over.

2 RepliesYes I agree and I know ppl going to get mad especially pvp players, but they need to revert WormHusk back or buff it to give the hunter a exotic for more survivability. WormHusk- dodging heals you and nearby allies Cure x2 for you, Cure x1 for allies Or Dodging grants Devour with increase reload speed and handling. (Subclass Universal) I don't think it should be a issue since one class can spam heals whenever and another can do it with overshields

Datto honestly isn't that great tho. I have a few friends who did their solo flawless on hunter. Yeah I get it, other than salvations edge he's gotten some respectable placement for contest raids. But the fact he's soloing that much slower is kinda just proof he's been stacked courtesy of his platform. Esoterikk for example, never has done well in contest in the grand scheme of things, but he's had videos out for each character within a week.

10 RepliesNo. Stop trying to get all the class to have the same survivability, it muddies up the class identity. Hunter are stealth, speed, an precision, non of those involve healing. If your expecting survivability do not use the class based of a rogue. Whole reason why invis an devor got nerfed on other class besides the ones they came from. I get it you might not want to main all three, but the other two class are there for a reason, if all three could do the same thing what is the point of having three different class. Note: I read throw the comment an noticed you completed it sf on your hunter, I think you need to reevaluate who your putting as a higher tier player, if datto is a better player then you, why did you complete it an he didn't. Just cause someone does something for a job doesn't mean they do it well, not all "insert profession here" are made equally.
