Why do Destiny 2 cost $399.90 + tax on Playstation (US) for a new player?
Hello friends,
I tried to ask this on Reddit but my post got immediately removed by the moderators of r/DestinyTheGame. I played D2 awhile back for couple of hours, didn't buy any content. now i want to get into d2, but when i checked how much the content to experience d2 full, this is what i got:
Forsaken Pack $19.99 - Shadowkeep $24.99 - Beyond Light $29.99 - 30th anniversary pack $24.99 - The Witch Queen $29.99 - Witch Queen dungeon key $19.99 - Lightfall $49.99 - Lightfall dungeon key $19.99 - The Final shape + annual pass $99.99.
I would need also a PlayStation Plus essential to play online $79.99.
Is this accurate of what i have to pay to play all the content in d2?
Edit: apparently there is a legacy pack hidden in the PS store itself. so what i have to pay now if i want to play all content, as i see it:
Legacy collection $59.99, forsaken pack $19.99, 30th anniversary pack $24.99, Lightfall $49.99, 2 dungeon keys $40 and The Final shape + annual pass $99.99. that not including the PS plus for online play. it's a bit extreme, isn't?

There is a bundle called Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2023) for $59.99 that combines - Shadowkeep - Beyond Light - Witch Queen There is another bundle called Destiny 2: Armory Collection that combines 30th Anniv. & Forsaken Pack for $29.99 Now the better question you should be asking is what do you start off with, because the expansions have all been on-sale pretty frequently, so I would suggest that you start with The Final Shape + Annual Pass and then wait for sales on the others. Personally, I would go in this order when it comes to buying the expansion whenever there is a sale Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2023) Dollar wise this tends to be the best value when it is on sale since you are getting 3 expansions for about the cost of one Lightfall The expansion was okay(ish), but you have to own the expansion if you wish to use Strand Destiny 2: Armory Collection To be perfectly honest - this is one bundle that I have a hard time recommending to anyone buying. The only redeeming quality is that this gives you access to some amazing exotics from Year 2 as well as the Gjallarhorn exotic rocket launcher. As for the dungeon keys, they are purchased using the in-game Silver currency and you only have to buy one of the 2000 bundle at $19.99 and then buy the next lower bundle with 1500 at $14.99 The 2000 bundle give you a bonus of 300 and the 1500 bundle gives you a bonus of 200, so that will net you an additional 500 - thus giving you the 4000 for both dungeon key sets. Hopefully this helps, but the TL;DR is start with buying the next expansion and then wait for the other expansions to go sale as they frequently do, which could very well happen around the launch of Final Shape

This is one of the main complaints I have with the game currently. I can't really recommend getting into this game with the new light experience being a train wreck and the story being nearly impossible to make sense of without a lot of research into removed expansions. But if you are still dead set on getting into the game then I would highly recommend waiting for a sale. At least on PC there was a Humble Bundle a month or so ago for everything really cheap besides the Annual pass.

Wait until it’s on sale, the cost of the DLC packs dropped by over 50% in a previous sale. For the available content you’re probably looking at getting > Legacy Collection (Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and Witch Queen) > Armory Collection (30th Anniv, Forsaken pack) > Lightfall
