Regarding the state of the game released this week: I have played D2 for around 8k hours. I always buy the annual pass, and I play everything the game has to offer, but the thing I play the most (and it's not even close) is pvp.
I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on this game. It's not for pve, but don't get me wrong, because soloing pve content is super fun, but the thing that has kept me around has always, ALWAYS been pvp.
I've spent my money, year after year, because I always held faith that pvp would be taken care of. Maybe it's just a lull due to restructuring, I'd say. Or it's probably coming next season because now they're aware of how badly people want a refresh. In fact, I actually thought since the engine update in beyond light, at the very least, there must be a pvp team working on porting all those maps we lost. I bet we get them slowly over several seasons. Now we know they're not coming. I honestly appreciate the new map coming up, and I appreciate the transparency regarding the splitting of resources, but if I'm being honest, if there was no pvp, there's absolutely no way I would have ever purchased any of the annual passes, and no way I would have ever purchased literally anything for that matter. It has only been my faith that kept me here. I could be playing doom eternal again if I wanted challenging content, a solid physics system, intense abilities, and no new maps.
My point is, now that we have confirmed what I always thought was true, that pvp is spread across multiple teams with more responsibility than you can shake a stick at, is there any way to monetize pvp? I'd absolutely love to spend my money on the game, knowing that it was going to help pay for a team dedicated only to the pvp branch of the game (or hell, even a team that handled gambit and pvp together, because gambit could be pretty friggin awesome if it had enough effort put into refresh and expansion). That team that I would love to pay into existence, could be some rag tag bunch of heroes, who against all odds, pull off a map or two each season (or 5-8 per expansion), maintain game stability, lobby balancing, refresh rewards and incentives, create new and ingenuitive ways to play, and keep our power creep in check. It would be an epic reason to recommend the game to others.
I know it would be a huge amount of work, and that's why I'd be willing to pay for it. I'm not interested in paying for things that don't require a comparable amount of work. That's just silly.
Tl;dr: If my main focus for paying for the game is pvp, then please help me to help you to help me...

You're better off buying Shredder or Nicki Minaj in CoD. Or using your bills to wipe your -blam!-. At least with the latter you get some actual use out of your money.

6 RepliesPvP is already monotized. Trials requires the latest expansion, the best weapons require seasons or expansions, the majority of exotics require old and outdated expasions or specific seasons (forsaken is literally a raid and an exotic pack at this point), ornaments from eververse improve the sights or decrease the clunky-ness of weapon models allowing for more visablity.

2 RepliesWait til you see how they monotize Marathon 😂😂

2 RepliesLol, Bungie is rolling in money and you're asking for them to charge you MORE after they admitted they don't care to support PvP or Gambit???

2 RepliesThey could easily just tell the teams making the PvE environments to make an area that is pvp friendly. Just add some boundaries and a few pieces of cover here and there and there’s a new pvp map no issue.
