Fishing is just insanely tedious.

The amount of time to get the bait. Using the (up to 500) bait feels so much worse when all you're doing is standing there pressing a button every 5-20 seconds. Public events often before you can even max out the Focused Fishing gauge unless you got lucky with the last pond and not too many landed so close simply jumping will collect them. You had a problem with people afk farming in Shattered Throne and even using Thrallway for bounties and catalysts, but you have no problem designing an activity that may as well just be us repeating the same emote over and over again for hours only to get a handful of exotics, a few dozen legendaries, and a few hundred regular fish for reputation. We could do Salvage and Deep Dives and get more of the same everything in a fraction of the time. At least let us use more bait to either catch more fish or increase the drop rates of higher rarity fish or something. No one wants to look at the same body of water for potentially hours at a time. If I wanted to play a fishing game, I'd dig out Bass Landing on the PS1 or something. All this accomplished is increase play time by dragging it out in the most boring way possible, and you're probably going to pat yourselves on the back for it when the people in question aren't really even playing the game. They're probably on their phones or something, literally anything else is more productive and fun. Edit: Clearly some are missing the point that's being made. I'm not complaining about rewards or anything of the sort, but the time spent and the logic behind this. They had a problem with afk farmers in Thrallway, but this activity is basically just you spending potentially hours doing the same emote over and over for rewards. It's not much different than the old afk farm, the only difference is that you need to press a button every few seconds for better rewards than what that gave. From a gamer standpoint, not a fisherman, if it's going to stay this monotonous, the least they can do is let us use more bait at once to catch more fish, or let us exchange it for higher quality bait with better drop rates. I'd gladly exchange 500 bait for 250 rare bait and exchange that for like 25-50 legendary. I'd be getting fewer fish and potentially getting even fewer legendary/ exotic fish, but at least I'm not spending hours looking at the same pond for, as my last fishing session went with 370 some bait, 4 exotics, 27 legendary, and the rest in rare/ uncommon. I care less about the rewards and more the repetition. It gets old faster than raid exotic drop rates I'm sure for people claiming to have dozens or hundreds of completions and no luck on them.

  • Tedious indeed... today I experienced a major turn off to fishing. I had been standing there without moving, watching youtube videos, catching fish (exotic, legendaries, and the rest just laying about) without picking up any so as to maximize my catch... and I got kicked to orbit with Destiny asking "are you still there?" What the @#$% ? Yes I'm still here, thanks for robbing me of time and all those stupid fish.
