Just remove it. Nothing in destiny supports sbmm... destiny 2 is NOT a comp game and it mever will be. Quickplay is for fun. Not for lagfest sweatstacks stomping ground. "Competitive" got division so its absolutely just dumb to have sbmm 50/50 win rate so no one can climb.. trials is the only one that might make use of it but alas this thing that you have in trials now is absolutely garbage. Laggers and cheaters running wild. 3 stacks against solos. Not. Fun. Just make it connection based already and stop goofing around

6 RepliesEdited by Malen'Kiy: 6/1/2023 9:32:13 PMmmm, no There needs to be some level of SMBB to avoid every game being determined before it begins. Now I don't know how much SMBB is needed or not needed, but it's better to have some than none at all. Edit: No, I will not fix the typo. Screw you, and your Immortal.

62 RepliesNo. It should ALWAYS be SBMM, period. Why? Because there is a middle tier of player that actually wants to improve, that does actually do well when the games aren't stacked, and that enjoys close matches over one sided beatdowns(win/lose). Not the casual. And not the tryhards. The actual, middle of the road player base. Whenever SBMM is active, EVERY time. I feel as if I am getting somewhere. Whenever whatever sweatfest BS matchmaking is in place, I end up on teams getting farmed by every cheap/lazy loadout imaginable. 2-3 stacks against randos. And it basically sucks. It's why I have no respect for "skill" in this game. Dudes with 5+ K/D farming noobs. How the -blam!- do you think they have that K/D? Because they are THAT good? GTFOOH. I know I am not good. But I also know that on a level playing field, I always get better.

1 ReplyJust to clarify some people... yes sbmm is good for comp things when it works but the current state of servers means it is a lagfest.. do you get better playing quickplay with laggers shooting you thru walls? No. Do you get better at cbmm without lag even tho you get stomped? Absolutelu yes! You can adapt to strategies and make your own! Sbmm would be good only on trials and that would be if they fixed the servers. Absolutely no other mode needs it
-
1 ReplyI agree you cant have sbmm with their servers the way they are. The lag and dsync is so bad you cant have 1 match without 1 of them. Its needs to be strictly cbmm until they fix their crappy servers. Any player can be a god if their connection is crap and they dont take damage.
-
6 RepliesYou'll find that if it was pure connection based, people would get stomped (a lot of the time) and leave pvp, which ultimately leaves you with just the sweats (leaving you exactly where you started) - thus the circle is complete.
-
2 RepliesYou're certainly confusing the placebo of easier opponents with better connection. When opponents don't fight back connections seem better. Le sigh. I'm amazed how shockingly irrelevant the once great destiny elite have become.
-
4 RepliesAnother sweat that doesn’t want to play fellow sweaties lol
-
16 RepliesThere's no such thing as a 'comp game'. Anything can be competitive if enough randomness is removed. This is merely a question of skill balance. CBMM is goofy and only really benefits high skill players. SBMM maintains as even skill as it could for the majority. Everybody wants to make somebody else 'sweat' then come on the forums begging not to put minimal effort in a match.
-
17 RepliesWhile I always sympathize with connection issues and playing against meta slaves… Destiny is the only game and player base where good/skillful players actively complain about playing other skillful players… and to be clear that’s not all the high skill players but this forums is full of those that do. Name another game where this happens… the best basketball players don’t talk about going to the YMCA and dunking on the locals. Best baseball players don’t go about bragging on taking BP at their local high school and destroying that high schools best pitcher. Chess players get roasted for playing down on lower competition. People that read sometimes might need to read about this idea called the Zone of Proximal Development.

CBMM is where the sweatstack stomping happens, not SBMM.It's pretty obvious you have no idea how SBMM works.
-
23 RepliesYou're not guaranteed to have a 50% win rate with SBMM. What actually happens is that teams are more evenly matched during games, so that, at least on paper, you'll have a 50% chance of winning that particular game. Bungie doesn't use true SBMM: it's basically CBMM with some additional criteria after the fact. There's not a big difference in connections between SBMM and CBMM. There are definitely longer queue times, though. Haha, and you don't like Trials either? You do realize that Trials is one of the only modes that doesn't use SBMM, right? So if you don't like SBMM and you don't like CBMM, what do you like? Sounds like you want easy, one-sided games to make yourself feel good.
-
Without SBMM, matches ARE pubstomps by sweatstacks harassing low-skill players. It sounds like you WANT SBMM.
-
Agreed

…Quickplay is for fun….
How fun is it for a noob, a significant other, a youngster, an oldster, or anyone who is in the lower 50% of the skill curve to face opponents they have no chance against… none. That is cbmm. Give us two identical Quickplay games; one strict SBMM and the other your choice in cbmm. Let’s see which is better business for Bungie.
-
Trials would use SBMM if it wasn’t for “pull the slot machine lever 7 times and win everytime” rule, even though CBMM is just as bad for that gamemode.
-
1 ReplyAgreed, I don't want a fair fight either, I'm too much of a little kitten.
-
5 RepliesThey already tried that several times and it hard fails every time, so no need to retread failed ground.
-
7 Repliesthis "debate" is so tired. with no dedicated servers or a high enough player pop. neither CB or SBMM will work as intended. destiny players need to realize this and either stop complaining and keep playing pvp as long as you want/can take it, or stop complaining and play a different game for pvp. if a game does have dedicated servers and a high player pop, then SB is the way to go for most game modes.
-
19 RepliesJust remove PVP, destiny has only ever been worse for it existing
-
No thanks, its great.
-
The terms 'competitive' and 'forced win ratio' do not coexist. Never!
-
2 Repliesplay the cbmm mode. problem solved.

3 RepliesBased on feedback from my other post, this is what I want people to consider: Let's say I get lucky and RNG puts me in 100 matches against .5 and lower. I a .8, slay out and raise my KD to 1.2(or whatever), does that mean that I am actually a 1.2? Now let's say I am even luckier, and I play another 100, and only get 1 or lower on average. Then I get up to 1.8. The question you need to ask is how many people are at each tier. We aren't talking rumble here where it is every man for himself. How many trials matches as a solo player has anyone been in where they were positive in the numbers, with an inexperienced team? So no matter how good YOU might do, you still end up getting farmed by the other team. Especially when there still can be 2 stacks against solo. Forget SBMM or CBMM. As someone mentioned below, the problem is lobby balancing. 100%. K/D is meaningless unless on AVERAGE people are playing against others who are in their general skill range. Why? Because the higher you get, the less players there are to challenge you, the easier it is to maintain your rank. The lower you are, the more challenging it is, the harder it is to improve. There needs to be a balance. I get people not wanting Lag. I get people not wanting to sweat it out every match. But stomp or be stomped happens WAY too often. And that is the real issue.

Trials has become CBMM solely. It’s currently a dumpster fire.

2 RepliesEdited by Cal O'Mari: 6/1/2023 7:43:02 PMJust another voice, but we got SBMM because CBMM was so awful, Bungie had to pull metrics to show us how bad it actually was. The unfortunate reality is it doesn't matter if its SBMM, CBMM, or a mix, they just fundamentally don't understand PvP, at least for Destiny. Maybe Marathon will be different, I don't know. Not sticking around for that though. Oh, I forgot. Alot of people mention not climbing with SBMM, but there is literally zero information to tell us we're advancing, if we are. The logical answer is that people just aren't going to notice advancement. We just do the activities and go about our business. The only cue ins are if we're tuned enough to recognize vast playstyle changes in matchmaking, but I doubt most of us are, plus that could be attributed to development changes too, so its hard to say.
