This is a weird one. I currently have a full masterworked Thorium Holt Hood (queensguard valor shader and TM-MOSS Custom Hat). I haven't noticed this mattering in my testing, just giving the info.
If I have a mod equipped in the second to last slot, Rain of Firebolts no longer functions. But only if the surrounding sockets are filled as well.
Diagram examples:

Doesn't Work

I have not found a link to the mods that surround the third slot mattering. It seems that it can be any default ores or ones discounted by other artifact mods perks.

2 RepliesThere is a maximum number of perks that can be active at one time for any character. This appears to include subclass Aspects/Fragments, artifact perks, exotic weapons and armor, weapon perks, origin traits, armor mods, artifice armor stat bonuses, and intrinsic armor benefits.

Edited by DNAhole: 5/13/2023 10:29:39 PMAdding a comment because I discovered that the functionality seems to be tied to having a strand SMG equipped that is also under the effect of the Overload SMG artifact mod. Using other SMGs or removing Overload SMG as an artifact mod allowed Rain of Firebolts to always work, regardless of the mod configuration on my helmet.
