  • I was, too. I meant I'm envious of your good life, so I couldn't sympathize. I was afraid the joke wouldn't land, sorry about that.

  • I used to work in a cafe', so that I can DEFINITELY sympathize with. I practically mainlined a pot of coffee just to get the damn place ready to open for the commuters before they caught their trains.

  • Certainly know what that's like, seasonal Sumner job at a place called Lands End, Queues of 30 to 50 family's, fresh shell fish and a massive bbq grill for burgers etc Feeding the masses of holiday makers. That was a mental time, tons of raves all on the beaches at night too

  • You know, I used to work in a proper restaurant, and nearly every night after closing a bunch of us would hit the bar and stay to closing, ignoring the fact that most of us were due back 5 hours later. There're times when I find myself reminiscing about those days, then I remember, "Holy s**t, I'm in my 40's now, do I really want to be running on less than 5 hours of sleep (or less than 5 hours of passed out, whatever) and nursing a mild hang-over while dealing with customers for 10 hours?" That's when I snap back to reality and decide to leave that game to the twenty-somethings who can survive solely on air and alcohol.
