Eververse kills Events

Like cool, you want a second eververse set in the shop? That’s fine. But when there’s 90% of event content thrown in the store my incentive to participate beyond getting a weapon roll is zero. Haven’t played an event in the last year more than a few days just to get a few good rolls of the event weapon. Imagine if the seal and all these completely worthless triumphs actually had some value to them by rewarding armor sets and cosmetics upon completion. If completing an event seal was worth it (like the event armor set) I’d do it. If completing a raid seal gave you a unique memento access or something, I’d do it. But until bungie moves away from this “have a cool name, make friends” mindset, I’m just going to ignore the cash schemes they disguise as events. Bungie does not care about engagement, they care about shallow content that influences you to purchase stuff from the store. Little do they know if they didn’t price a single armor set to be more expensive than the season pass, and focused on quality engagement and abundance in rewards, I’d be more inclined to buy silver. But I haven’t bought any since forsaken since I know they just don’t give a -blam!- anymore.

  • They promised they would use Eververse sales to fund secret missions. Misaions like Whisper of The Worm. They used this promise to make the community ok with their shady Eververse schemes and make us buy more things with Silver. Even though they stopped these secret missions many seasons ago and have not changed their Eververse practises. Free events don't need Eververse funding. They make enough charging us for said seasons, and dropping next to no content.

    • Everything has a seal nowadays. They're becoming about as rare as blue shaders.

      • I miss event s like the Solstice of Heroes in Year 1. Back then, we got a special event-specific bright engram in addition to our normal bright engrams whenever we leveled up. It could drop any of the cosmetics including sparrows, ghosts, and of course the signature solstice armor glows. You still had the option to buy the stuff back then, but it gave us a way to actually earn stuff in game. Bungie's idea of an 'event' is to copy and paste the old minor gameplay additions, and then stick a bunch of stuff in Eververse. Its really atrocious.

But we need eververse, it funds these events which are 90% more eververse. No wait it fund's the secret missions we've been getting, wait no....uhhh stop asking questions!

            • No it doesn't. Not making actual events kills events. Even if all the Eververse stuff was available to earn the "event" would still suck. It's just play the same stuff in the game we already have been and get some extra currency along the way now.

Yea... and i remember hardcore players defending eververse HARD. "they gotta make money somehow". Of course. But isn't 100 bucks per year PER PLAYER to milk from players by selling PAID content already enough??? And obviously non of our eververse money is going into developmment of the game. Non of it. I remember them saying one ornament for the whisper of the worm sniper paid for the entire zero hour mission or some sh###. Yea about that. They could make 800 secret missions per year with the eververse money they make but yet they recently said they aren't gonna make any more of these cause they aren't "profitable". True capitalism. Actually never seen a more capitalistic example than Bungie. This is no free to play game by any means at all. It's a free demo to get you by the balls and then you have to buy paid DLC. I don't know what gave Bungie the impression to go full f2p mtx store monetization wise WHILE having a subscription like paid dlc model (it's pretty much a pre-paid subscription if you think about it, 8 bucks a month by pre-paying 100 bucks a year.)

              • I agree. However even if it was included in the pass, I couldn’t care less of baking cookies for granny to give to other NPCs. How can this even be labeled “event?” Bottom line, these event cosmetics are simply ugly; and who needs another sparrow, shell or the like BS when we have 2mln who take too much processing power and slow the whole game down anyway?

                • This game is a waste. The same rinse and repeat horde mode activities with recycled, reskined, reused, repurposed, reissued, re-sold back to you trash. Nothing but useless; ghosts, sparrows, shaders, projections, emotes, ships, finishers and emblems. Game play is artificially inflated with rinse and repeats activities involving seals, triumphs, artifacts and bounties… and the cherry on top, here is a power increase with time gated story telling involving more of the same.

                  • You are not there yet... I refused to talk to Eva. Blink away you aged beet. Not gonna happen. Bungie brings nothing to the table any longer. I once looked forward to these in season events... Then, bungie's intentions became clear as cellophane once they started charging.... For a ghost? For an emote? A ship? A shader? Money. Money. Money. Bungie stopped working for mine.

Eververse is become intrusive. I still remember the shop from year one which wasn't like that at all. Events, basically are the same or worse, as ever. Yesterday evening, I thought I could play for some time but I turned it (Destiny 2) off again after giving Zavala his cookie. I bought the Deluxe Edition (like always) but after the last three seasons I can't continue with it. I'm frustrated. It's not the end of the world but I think I reached the point where I can't tolerate Bungies "Season of Copy and paste" anymore. I would consider myself as fan. I "love" Destiny (2) but I can't stand any longer all the nonsense which comes with it these days.

                    • These events are simply revenue makers - nothing else - just take them for what they are - grab some cool weapons and maybe snag an armour set for some bright dust… Everything else just ignore…

                      • No, this business is the problem, not the shop. Any game can have a shop, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just this business focus more on the shop then the events.

                          • Honestly the Dawning is the least egregious event. We get a set of really good weapons we can focus into and the best bright dust farm in the entire game. Guardian Games was a little better last year with the return of Strike scoring, but the actual contest itself was entirely one-sided as usual. Festival of the Lost is an actual joke. I enjoy Solstice but honestly the arena and Hive/Fallen/Cabal rotation is getting old.
