Master VOG shows the weakness of high end content

And contest mode VOW demonstrated how good high end content could be. Vow was an engaging and challenging use of puzzle mechanics, with the minimal use of champions. The puzzles are difficult but doable given the time allotted, even in normal difficulty. Contest mode light level still upped the skill ceiling for ad clear and DPS checks, making those roles more important and engaging without the crutch of champions Master VOG and GM content rely heavily on champions while the mechanics are usually skipped or straight up cheesed for the sake of efficiency and the lowest risk. This is even less fun than champions, as any one mistake will get you 1 tapped or force a wipe. Even if a fireteam performs perfectly there is a high likelihood of wiping. This pushes players to cheese mechanics in order to iterate more. Champions are not fun, especially when the player is cornered into using specific seasonal mods to deal with them. What is the point of farming good primary PVE rolls when 2/3 of our weapons will be useless in a given season. Too much work for too little reward. Primary weapons have the same problem as glaives in Master content or above, they are just not good enough at killing champs on their own, and you must sacrifice DPS options to use them. Speaking of glaives, this season is especially tough with all the glaive and suppression mods. Especially when most of the high end content in the game doesn't give a diddle about suppression anyways. High end content needs adjusting to make the game less RNG and more skill/loadout based. It is very possible to introduce difficulty without flooding the battlefield with champs. And if that doesn't happen, we need consistent ways of dealing with said champs. Bungie can keep their seasonal mods, I think they are a good idea in theory, but make some of these champion mods real mods. TLDR Bungie has shown they can create engaging content at a higher difficulty with contest Vow, so it's time to change the loop of seasonal mods and stop the influx of champions to induce difficulty. It is not healthy for high end content and the longevity of PVE. we are getting tired

 • Let me take you back in time. The raid was Crown of Sorrows. The last 2 encounters were pretty mechanic heavy, and the final encounter by today's standards would one of the harder boss encounter in Destiny. Many many teams struggled to get to dps blah blah right? When you did get there, it was a boss melt due to LunaFactions etc. Then Datto whines about Lunafactions making the game too easy, they get nerfed, the term "power creep" starts getting tossed around, and raids become a lot easier. The only way to add difficulty is by adding champions and creating oppressive light level difference to artificially increase difficulty. Bungie was on a path of giving legit difficulty for raids, but streamers complained those raids were too easy bc of a pair of exotic boots and it changed the entire design philosophy. But Bungie doesn't cater to streamers....
