Once again asking for Nova Bomb self damage to be removed.

Makes zero sense both game wise and lore wise. It's like a dragon melting it's own throat while breathing fire. A Titan doesn't atomize themselves when thundercrashing. A hunter doesn't freeze themselves with Silence and Squall when throwing them at their feet. You don't damage yourself launching Daybreak at your feet. We have Nova Warp where we conjure novas and collapse them outward around us. So why does this outdated and stupid design from 2014 persist? What purpose does it serve? If I want to dunk a a mass of void energy into the ground I should be encouraged to do so! I should get a slam dunk medal! Edit: So some are saying Nova Bomb needs to have a drawback yet a point blank Nova Bomb is literally just Thundercrash with slightly less radius and only half of the vertical splash lethality. It would be fine.

            • Then all self damage abilities and supers should be removed as well. If we remove 1, the complains will sky rocket " you removed this but not that" posts will come left and right. This is issue is like double edged sword. On one hand I see why ppl ask for dmg to be removed, but at the same time, I get it at point blank blast should do some dmg too. It's like grenades and any other ability that dmgs you if your close enough. I can only see them remove the damage if all other supers ,abilities and w.e else you use that damages you. Otherwise I can't see them remove 1 and nothing else, it'll cause and uproar and just more complaints

                  • Meh, it’s fine. The damage only does about half health at max, and you shouldn’t be using it at point-blank anyways. Slowva for lots of basic people or a non-arc staff super. Vortex is much more consistent in having its effect measured but requires you to actually think and position. Maybe give Thundercrash some recoil if they hit something without traveling a set distance, but the rest are fine. Idk. Also if you’re having that hard of a time with Slowva, use Nova Warp or Vortex instead.

                    • I’m glad there’s some form of drawback to that. Point blanking someone in PvP should come at the cost of you being caught in the same blast. It’s essentially the same as a point blank rocket.

                    • People are saying that it needs a drawback? Lol, why are people protecting PVE enemies? In PVP it’s a pretty awful super. An arc staff can block it like it’s nothing, a golden gun can pop it with one shot, and other “one and done” supers don’t do self damage (like silence and squall).

                        • It's to ward against panic supers. Blade barrage does the same. S&S and Thunder Crash have a longer animations, and give enemies more warning in theory. Though imo they should damage their casters as well.

                            • My issue with the nova bomb is that it starts behind you, and the amount of times that it blows up while casting with a small piece of texture behind you is infuriating.. because s it's cast, it appears as the full size of the bomb, and anything it touches wil cause it to explode. While it does decent damage, it's only when the trails actually form, and actually follow the target. So, kind of RNG... if you let it travel longer, it seems to have a better chance at forming the trails. Most void locks use the class for its neutral game, but with all classes having access to devour, and faster ability spam than warlocks now... it does start to show the flaws with the super more.

                                While we're at it can we remove self damage from Vortex grenades too and the stupid jump from Tether thx

                              • While we are at it I guess we should remove self damage from: blade barrage, grenades, suppression grenades, smoke bombs, grenade launchers, heavy grenade launchers, rocket launches, ricochet rounds, volatility, sleeper stimulant and throwing knives. For thunder crash vs nova bomb here is the argument I would use. It’s the difference between being an explosion and being caught in a explosion. If you are the explosion you don’t die but if you fire an explosion and are caught in it you die. For another example take palpatine firing at mace windu, palpatine is shooting lightning which he is being hit by and thus hurting him. However if palpatine was the lightning he would not be hurt. Long story short. Firing an attack hurts you, being an attack doesn’t.

                                • Let's just remove self damage so you can rocket launcher thrall point blank. Self damage has a function in destiny. It was removed in war frame because it was essentially broken and made most explosive weapons unusable. Warframe is also a vastly different game that celebrates the power fantasy instead of neutering it. It's perfectly justifiable. As to your thunder crash argument if you're saying that titans are over tuned there's a reason a lot of people say titan is the class of "push forward to win". But what you fail to consider there is that while yes their super does similar damage, novabomb can be fired from fairly high range where as thundercrash puts you right in the middle of the violence, so while it doesn't do self damage it does mean you're now groin deep in a hornets nest.

                                  • Lore wise it makes sense. You throw a collapsing star...obviously that will damage yourself. Same way hunter blade barrage does self damage. Also..dragons breathe fire by combining 2 liquids that shoot out of their maw into eachother. Same as a flamethrower.

                                    • Hunters do hurt themselves with blade barrage. I just want better collision detection when casting supers near wall. It's annoying when you cast nova bomb or tether while near a wall or ceiling, and even though your looking away from the wall or ceiling, it will hit it and waste your super.
