Brothers. Sisters. Risen. Forbade while now I collected my mods. I have acquired my weapons. My armor, my light. My ferocity and zeal to run blindly into a raid.
Allow me to regale you. Once upon a time I was but a mote of light, I conquered the story of Destiny and formed a fireteam with my compatriots two, brothers. Apart King, whom I known from my medic days in Battlefield 3. His brother, Heatblaze27. Together we aided each other in climbing through all aspects if Destiny: Leveling. Collecting. Harvesting. Lore. We plowed through Vanguard Strikes and crushed the opposition in Crucible before the Nerf times. Pre Titan nerf, pre Thorn nerf.
When the Vault of Glass was announced we dud our research, gathered our followers and formed a clan. Then we dived in. Day one. We struggled. We fought, we laughed, we coward in the Gorgon Maze for hours. All before we came upon Atheon, the Devour of Hours. But then the brothers two lost connection. They fought for hours to jump back in before the rest ofvthe party replaced them. I refused to work with new teammates and saw myself out due to loyalty.
My loyalty was rewarded when we shifted our clan focus to help others struggling with raids from then forward. We never limited anyone to 'needed' weapons and we wasted hours teaching many a new light on what to do and how to do it.
Those days are gone. Replaced with these charlatans, these keepers of knowledge and fools who bar others on the grounds of KWTD. ON. DAY. ONE.
Is that who we are? Do we deny glory and Bounty and riches in fathoms deep?! Do we shoo away our fellow kith on the grounds they are a liability?! Is that who we are?!
I curse you! Plagues on your homes! You were once them! WE ALL WERE THEM! As we are now, in the dawn of this raid. But you have forgotten yourselves. Let your greed and failings in this contest mode teach you humulity... pray it stay your feet. Be the failing you will never succeed in. Where is your loyalty, yiur honor, your kinship? Replaced with avarice for loot, yes?

64 RepliesThe problem lies in bungie themselves, they constantly claim they have a great community but when you look at these forums and fireteams posts it’s elitist trash and nonstop bs of kwtd or be kicked. You don’t need to know what to do as long as you’re not terrible and only trying to get a carry, if you are competent and can learn from a couple failures and wipes it’s not that big a deal. Bungie has got to stop saying the community is so great and endorsing people like this through those words and the streamers that also promote the behavior which just furthers the problem. Sure streamers do your thing earn some money but don’t hang back and screw everyone else by being an elitist dbag and tell people to be the same way. The problem is in no one that can actually sway these people is actually coming out and saying “look this is wrong no one told you kwtd or be kicked or you’d have never even gotten a raid at all” if this was the case devs would just kick you the second you launched with an error saying sorry you don’t know what to do. Also contest mode after the first team finishes needs to end day 1 is all that should be contest, bungie is in a habit of “well if we can pad numbers by keeping people trapped for hours it’s ok” just to keep the game looking more active than it would be after the first week of the raid or anything really. And still people endorse all this too so bungie endorses their bs right back. The game is no longer for casual players and hasn’t been for a long time it’s a shame but it’s a fact

2 RepliesGate keeping is necessary. There has to be a demand for those paid sherpas after all.

There’s a different between only having a couple hours or all day for a raid. if your trying teach some one for vow the third encounter will kill the team if that player being taught is a pve bot! the new raid isn’t really bot friendly when every needs to know what’s going on during the encounter, and has an integral part with every one holding a relic at one point in time or another. Also heres a way to fix your toxic experience on lfg MAKE YOUR OWN FIRETEAM AND CONTROL IT! it’s really not that hard. don’t join a team of people trying to get it done in a hour if you know your going to extend that time by just not knowing what’s going on /can’t keep up. Also go join some ones discord like Clydes (not the best slightly toxic buts helps you get Stuff done) sticky’s and ,or perceptions are really good!

Didn’t know Shakespeare played Destiny.

I know how you feel. I was going to make a post regarding this issue on Friday, but knew the trolls here would have a field day. This unfortunately has ( and will always be) an issue in this game. It was wasn't a big problem in D1, but somehow got worse. I actually have been seeing alot of "kwtd" posts, another saying they would be "checking stats" and a third requiring 45+ clears. Although I hope the last was joke. But I'm glad to hear there are still individuals like the people in your clan willing to help and teach others. And you are right, once upon a time gatekeepers were the ones being kept out.

1 Replyraids are dumb.
-
This is one of the few games I have seen in 30 years where the company allows pure toxic horrible people to infest every inch of the game. It is funny really because all the -blam!- below that go the "your dumb, shut up" route are destroying the very game they play. Imagine a game like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft and how long they lasted...Bunjie letting the toxic children ruin their very paychecks instead of expanding the audience and customer base is laughable yet they do nothing to stop it and I actually think they try to force it. Raids just show the actual reality in this game. The attitude exists in every facet such as the ahole trying to race strikes, PVP, Nightfall's and hell even patrols. You post on these forums any of those issues and you will get jumped faster than a millionaire in Chicago. This game really should be what is shown at DEI training sesssions....if your company is this you are a horrible, disgusting steward of the community

8 RepliesEdited by Blitz Wolf: 3/6/2022 8:49:12 PMIt's funny. In Destiny, I used to really enjoy raiding. Primarily VoG and King's Fall. I was damn-near a Sherpa for King's Fall because it was so fun and I hardly ever had to deal with players who either wouldn't listen or were entitled a-holes who always expected flawless runs. It was so rare. Until... Wrath of the Machine. It was this raid, and only this raid, during Destiny that I would encounter complete sh*tlords who wouldn't listen, wouldn't help, and/or would get pissy if everything wasn't going perfectly flawlessly. This was the beginning of what would ultimately be the Destiny 2 experience. I never really went out of my way to raid, in the first place, but the vast majority of people I did end up raiding with through whatever means were like those from Wrath. Often worse. Not always the experience, no. Of course. But it became the majority. KWTD within the first few days of a raid releasing, let alone day-one, is nothing short of elitists, and those pretending they are, trying to lord above other players at every possible chance. Usually because it's only this game where they have some sort of superiority. Any other aspect of their life has them being the lesser of the bunch. It's sad that the default for almost all of these people is to treat others like sh*t so they can pretend, for even a moment, that their life isn't the butt of every joke. Anyways, long-story short (too late)... This community has become consumed with toxicity that I laugh every time one of their community managers tries to sell people on how amazing their player base is. They might even believe it, too, because none of them spend even a second in their own forums. Nobody at Bungie does. Unless someone says a bad word. They're all over that sh*t.

2 RepliesKwtd isnt asking much. I'd understand if they were asking for clears, but they're not. Watch a guide or some -blam!-.
-
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Bravo! 🙌🏽
-
Day one kwtd isn’t bad, it’s just watching streams. Day one “have clears” is ridiculous though
-
Woah woah woah that's WAY too much energy and words for this place.
-
So it's fair to say you didn't get stuck at final boss for Day 1 like many of us. How lazy do people have to be, you have YouTubers making legit guides when the rest of us had to figure it out. Watch the damn vids and KWTD or don't bother joining. People just expect everything handed to them and won't even do a little work to learn symbol call outs or watch a YT vid. Sad...
-
1 ReplyIf you are going for a Day 1 clear and were on a team that was in the raid for 18+ hours, 6+ of those hours being at the final boss, you can't afford to bring on someone that doesn't know the mechanics, you are looking for someone with similar experience to you. On top of that, you are looking for someone with a lot of overall raid experience that is able to adapt to new changing circumstances. And finally, you need someone that can do consistently high damage, which means having the best weapons, the best mods, and the ability to get maximum damage every single time. Based on this post, I suspect you do not fall into that category, which is perfectly okay, it just means you aren't going to find a team for Day 1. Starting today, the raid will be a cakewalk and I have no doubt you will be able to find a team.
-
3 RepliesI feel like though, in the time it took to write this post, you could have posted for a team and found one. Ya know?
-
12 RepliesFunny post, but kwtd isn't bad. You can't expect everyone to always be willing to teach.
-
Just make your own fireteam
-
For everyone complaining... why not just find a Clan?
-
There are text guides and tutorial videos already available on day one. It’s only your own fault if you refuse to learn beforehand.
-
7 RepliesEdited by Slevi: 3/7/2022 5:22:10 PMYou guys can complain about kwtd all you want, but the smallest changes in a team matter. We can't teach someone weapon damage when their weapons are trash. We can't teach mechanics if you're not willing to adapt and change loadouts accordingly. Fireteams have been broken because of 1 bad player unwilling to adapt or follow rules. You can assume elitist neckbeards, but that insult has always been reserved for old school Wow players or DOD. I don't recall any main streamers with neckbeards.

3 RepliesThank you, I appreciate your post and pointing out toxicity within the community. I’m a solo player just starting to branch out into harder pve modes, and I’m having the hardest time finding people who are willing to teach and even extend a hand in friendship. I’ve found some great people but it’s challenging to find a group dedicated to playing together more than once. How can I even get into raids, let alone a day one, when nobody wants beginners who are willing to try and learn? 99% of every post I’ve seen is “KWTD 1560+ have clears and high dps or kicking.” So what’s the point in even trying? How can you gain any experience if you don’t already have a clan, group of friends, or find an entire team to teach you and/or learn with you? I would love to find a group to play with and are willing to teach. But it’s so damn difficult to even try when the lfgs are full of players who only want experienced people or are toxic. Yes, I understand that not everyone wants to teach, they don’t have to, but most people simply don’t want beginners either. I’ve seen tons of “first time raid” posts where absolutely nobody joins. I bet this comment will get lots of hate from people telling me I suck or don’t try hard enough. Yea, of course I’ll suck if I can’t find a team to play with in the first place.

Contest mode is an entirely different beast than any other experience in the game. Day 1 I’m trying to beat the raid not teach people. I love sherpa-ing dsc and did it often a few seasons ago but that’s infinitely easier and faster than day 1. i can bring my dad through a normal raid but day 1 i need the best of the best and even then it still takes hours on end to beat.
-
I aint teaching people day 1
-
I am very pleased to know do many of you feel as I do. A proper chorus drowning out those that disagree or casually say it isn't so.
-
5 RepliesLay off whatever you're taking. Also, this is contest mode. People are fighting the clock and have been banging their heads against the wall for 12+ hours for the clear. You always have the option of making your own team with no requirements. By the way, I have no horse in this race as I am not attempting contest mode, just think these "gatekeeping" posts are weird.

4 RepliesThis raid will not be something non elitists just casually do with lfg pickup groups. It is wayy too mechanically focused. So yea expect the neckbeards to demand day 1 emblem and 10+ clears after the first week on lfg. It is the toxic uninviting neckbeard communities fault AND Bungies fault. Bungies fault because they don't know their playerbase. Only like 2 percent of the playerbase even raid. Regular raiders are even more rare. And they make a new raid for a casual community like this, that requires more communication and learning mechanics than any other previous raid. Pretty annoying if you asked me. People were already overwhelmed with the garden of salvation boss. Many many lfgers just couldn't beat it or wasted a whole sunday on one clear. Now this raid is a whole different kinda beast, literally only built for the top 0,1 % of players and content creators. Not saying regulars can't do it but it will be way more rare for those to enjoy it with random groups. Bungie doesn't know their audience. A hard mode for those neckbeards could have been what they have now as the regular raid. (And yes i know its contest mode atm. I am talking about the mechanics and time crunches.)
