How is Freelance IB so unbalanced?!

Almost none of the matches this week are any fun. Most matches my team ends up being pummeled as if we were up against a 6stack. How is this even possible? I don't remember last IB having this issue. I really enjoyed it last December and now I’m getting continuously spawnkilled nearly every match.

    If you're teams keep getting pummeled, maybe you aren't doing your all to help the team win? I've got a 51% win percentage over 4600+ games played. seems balanced to me.

    • Actually there's a simple way to get Bungie to address the lobby balancing problems that have plagued this game since day one. As soon as the match gets tilted to the point you know that one team is stacked and the other is just a bunch of potatoes leave the match. If everyone leaves the unbalanced matches 60-70 % of the matches will not finish. A lot of games like to use the elo ratings for matchmaking and it would work if the matches were 1v1. If they built the teams using that formula of 1v1 then matchmaking may take a little longer but the quality of matches would be much better. They could take the pool of 12 players and pair them off to the teams one by one. Put the top 2 players on opposing teams, then #3 & 4 on opposing teams and so on until the teams are filled. The current state of matchmaking in pvp is unacceptable, that's why they have a hard time with pvp player retention. Yeah the numbers are awesome the first week or 2 of a season or expansion but then they drop like a rock afterwards. I'm not a coding expert or anything but I know there has to be a better way of team building and balancing or that's my thoughts on it anyways

    • Here are your options: go with SBMM and have trash connections, with guardians lagging all over your screen, and you come back on here to complain about it. Or, do something you have control over, and just play the game. Eventually, you'll get better. We learn most from our failures - not our successes.

      • Some people are just terrible at this game. Not sure if it's you or not, but I watch my teammates do the dumbest things over and over. Ppl complain about matchmaking when many times they are the problem. Pushing me out of cover Not capping much needed zones Popping supers when they only have onezone Blocking door ways when I need an escape Poor awareness Using fellow teammates as bate Sliding into your own teammates when they are fighting The list goes on. But there's just a lot of trashcan behavior. TBH I think many just done realize what they're doing and many just don't care unfortunately.

        • I think because Bungie said we are going to listen to very few player that complain about load times and get rid skilled base match making. This connection base is bullish!t.

          • You have won 45% of your games which is pretty close to the average unless you can carry a team on your own. It's late season so you have mostly really good and really bad players in the pool with not great team balancing and a lot of quitters so blowout games will be normal.

              Well, its fairly simple reason. People (streamers and sweats) complained about Skill based matchmaking loudly enough that it got removed. So they can continue their daily stomping and We ran farming at the cost of the 90% player base. They do need to then look at lobby balancing but it would be much less of an issue with SBMM.

            • So far I’m having 80% of my games with me having the most captures, kills and positive K.D.A while the guy in second is like 10-20 kills behind me and everyone else was a waste of space. All while facing 2-4 really decent or equally skilled players. Im only one person, I cant carry every single game. Would it be so hard to at least give one of those decent players on my team? Lol. I cant stand potato players

              • adding an extra 2 seconds to your death prior to respawn has incentivized spawn trapping and spawn killing. How bungie thought this was going to be a good idea and balance matches.. at best all it has done is prolonged the inevitable as matches go the distance yet the loosing team has no chance to come back.

              • Because Bungie has never learned how to lobby balance. Here we are going into year 5 and Bungie still puts most of the good players on the same team. This isn't just a problem in IB. Regular crucible 6v6 is no different. I don't understand why they can't figure this out. I played a regular 6v6 control game yesterday and it had two 3 stacks in it, both full of flawless and unbroken seals. Now common sense would tell you that matchmaking SHOULD put one 3 stack on each team. Think that happened? Nope. They were both on the same team. Two 3 stacks on the same team. Most of the players on the team I was on didn't even have a seal to speak of on their character and one was even using blue weapons. Bungie, WHY??????????

                • I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this bad. I’m average maybe overall, and every game feels like one side is just dominating. Honestly they can’t do this right, if they were smart they would divest totally from PvP and allocate those resources to building out more PvE content. That’s where the value is. Build out several new strikes and raids, more than they do now. If PvP has to be in the game then fine, but it can stay kinda hokey and broken.

                  Connection based matchmaking meets skill creep meets stacking to defeat lobby balancing. Oh, and then add in lockdown…one of the most ridiculous snowball mechanics I’ve ever seen in a game. Even with evenly matched teams about 25% of matches get mercied. In short, a complete mess, and a very unsatisfactory experience for most people.

                • So like IB is “CBMM” with alternating school ground Lobby balancing. So using their own API, not anything how a 3rd party sight uses elo or whatever, Bungie puts the top 2 player as the captains of ether team. Then alternates putting players on either side in descending skill order. Thus thinking its balanced. Now last week, they tweeted that when they removed SBMM a lot of issues have arisen that doesn’t do that lobby balancing right probably among a host of other issues. So right now, MM in IB and in PvP that’s not SBMM is basically randomly reaching in and grabbing 12 players that are queued, and full on randomly placing them on teams without balance checks, and possibly even latency checks since who knows how much things are bungled right now. It’s pure chaos 🤷🏼‍♂️. No wonder why people are stacking, about all one can control 😂. TBH though, one probably can come out a better player sticking through it getting whipped constantly.

                • The game mode is designed around the stomp, the whole lockout thing where 1 team earns 3 times the points for 1 kill until the zones become unlocked isn’t meant to be fair, or at least close. Personally I’m sick of control, would be good if they changed Banner to clash.
