Has the community become toxic? No. Have the developers made a handful of choices that invited quite a few of the more "toxic" kind of people into the game? Yes. Between the push for a competitive game early D2, the addition of the PC crowd, more years of flip flopping between the extremes of feedback, and being more vocal on "political topics", it's unsurprising that we see more vocal negativity. The community as a whole is still fine, but the supposed good and bad get highlighted more frequently nowadays. General interactions with the community in game or in lfg, smooth as ever in my experience. So I don't worry about the community. I worry about the game though.
