Rarity creep

We've all heard of power creep and the arguments about that, but what I'd like to see addressed is rarity creep. Namely, it's gotten to the point that unless something's legendary/purple we literally don't even look at it. Blues are discarded out of hand, and we literally never even see whites or greens outside of the New Light tutorial anymore. "Legendary" just means "normal" now. Mainly, my complaint is that if you're going to have a rarity system in place, it should mean something. Having the rarity levels be "actual garbage" / "normal" / Exotic seems pointless at best. Might as well just remove rarity entirely and replace all blue drops with glimmer, since that's all the function they serve currently.

If Destiny were a real mmo/rpg/mmorpg then yes, this would be an issue. But it isn’t. It’s just a first person shooter with cosmetics. The fact that you can get god rolled armor from a vendor for a handful of legendary shards or get a god rolled weapon from an engram randomly dropped by a dreg is laughable. Like why even have raid gear at all? Raid gear is literally just there so you can transmog it into your god rolled legendary armor piece from Xur (which is an argument for why transmog was a mistake, but that’s another topic) If I were to update the gear rarities, I’d drop all seasonal, vendor, and world gear to blue. These legendaries are pretty much instant dismantles unless you get a god roll. Raid gear, dungeon gear, trials gear, and nightfall weapons are actually worthy of legendary status. Blues should be green and the current greens should be white. Then I’d give the legendary gear extra intrinsic perks that distinguishes them from the blues. This would never happen though. It would take too much time and effort and would only satisfy the hardcore fans. Most people are content with the way Destiny is now
