It won’t, but right now the player base is divided between 4 consoles and PC.
Once cross play comes in it will only be divided between console and PC.
Basically it’s increasing the player base by not dividing them up.

I don’t believe that’s entirely the case. PS5’s have been in their own lobbies unless they were in a fireteam with a PS4 player then they were allowed in the PS4 lobbies. Either way by not dividing the player base like how they’ve been doing it, it’s like artificially increasing it. Of course that only if it works and doesn’t crash and burn as soon as they turn it on 😂
