So these past three weeks, I have been GRINDING in the GM's trying to get specific rolls on weapons I want. I am about 30 hung jury's and 40 plug one's in, and while I have some pretty good rolls, I do not have the desired one I want. I am beginning to believe the roll I want for hung jury (max range + rapid hit + explosive/firefly) isn't possible.
This made me wonder, what if we had a system that allowed us to craft specific rolls for the guns. I'm not entirely sure how it could work, but it would grant the user total control of their.... wait for it.... "dEsTiNy" and allow the user to really fine tune how they want to play with their builds.
I'm about to throw in the towel with hunting for my desired roll in the GM's. I do enjoy the GM's a great deal, it is just very disheartening that I keep getting everything but the roll I want.

I love this idea but the only problem would be is that it would take the grinding out of it once you get the perks you want.
-
Oh how i miss the Menagarie.
-
Had this idea before you and it went with my custom weapons frame idea. It would allow you to earn a custom weapon frame of your choice then you get a choice between one ammo type that you can switch on and off,one scope to put on the weapon, then two passive perks and two aggressive perks then you would have to go about like days of sold by gaining experience points that unlock the perks and eventually the weapon as a whole. An this I just made up. You get the original default skin and any skins you unlocked. But if bungie would put some effort and thought into allow players to chose how they want the game to look by allowing players to have custom skins on the weapon. Custom armor is still a work in progress cause I don’t know how to make them work correctly with the same idea. But bungie is to lazy to do it. They refuse to put effort into the game. An the refuse to let the players do anything they want to or how they want to play so highly doubt they would allow players that much freedom.

1 ReplyI keep saying it and everyone hates it, but re-rolling is the way to go
-
2 RepliesThey tried this when House of Wolves dropped, everyone rerolled until they got their favorite rolls and people stopped grinding for the god rolls. It was great for us but it stopped the grinding aspect behind the game so Bungie dropped it.
-
yeah sure let people with time to grind have broken weapons. No one at bungie read this forum, just saying.

26 RepliesWe had something like this in year 1. Something about fixed rolls and the community hated it since everyone had the same gun. Now we have random rolls, but you as a player want a specific fixed roll for all your guns. Crafting is good, but it eventually devolves everyone into the same same gun mentality. We might as well go back to fixed rolls.

This is how black armory should have functioned. Get a frame, base stats, farm mods, higher difficulty drops higher ranked mods like rampage etc. Build your own weapon.

1 ReplyYou're insane if you think this has any chance of happening. As others have pointed out, the grind is the game and the fact that you've spent this much time grinding reinforces that their system is working as intended.
-
Do you honestly think they would create something that’s better from a player point of view? Based on their track record, I envision them only creating another convoluted bullshit time gated multi-currency grind. If that’s the case, I think I’m better off with their manipulative RNG logic in place today.
-
12 RepliesCustomization only works on games with content. Bungie uses the grind itself as content, so they don't want players finding their desired rolls quickly.
-
All crafting would do in this game would give all the people who can farm mats and glimmer faster than others all the same God rolls that they wanted and crease a gap between more casual players. Oh wait...that happened in D1. This is not a game that can support crafting well.
-
2 RepliesBanshee could re roll weapons in D1 and it was an absolute disaster. It took away the need to play the game almost completely. That said I can certainly sympathise with the issue as I turned in hundreds of xmas gifts and never came close to the Glacioclasm roll I wanted. The umbrals are a good way to grind for specific things but perhaps there could be some RNG protections built in. Perhaps a quest, say complete ten GMs and you get to curate an adept weapon or similar? Perhaps allow Banshee to change one perk on a weapon to whatever you want once only?
-
We had gunsmith re-rolling in D1. All it did was have everyone running the same rolls leading to some of them being nerfed and/or removed. Beyond that, what would there be to 'aspire' to do if you got everything you wanted.

Edited by Darth Derrr (Defiled): 7/15/2021 1:35:46 AMI think it could be fine but should require a certain amount of the real weapon... Something with gunsmith. So you have one hung jury you have with Firefly... you can turn it in to start a quest, requiring you to add more hung juries to 'reverse engineer' the perk or something... like 2 or 3 of them or something. Maybe after that, you could forever turn in a hung jury to gunsmith to change that last perk to firefly!? Maybe additionally, you could add more perks the same way but would cost even more hung juries for subsequent perks... So if you wanted to add explosive to it after you already have one perk unlocked, maybe it'd cost 4 or 5 additional. So on for other slot perks with increasing cost. It seems really grindy still but should require fewer overall hung jury drops on average... Should somehow be more than average worth the time relative to the chance of a specific roll dropping or we'd end up with lots of wasted time if someone gets the roll in the middle of the process 🤣 Edit: alternatively, allow gunsmith to combine perks of multiple instances of weapons (you pick and choose from as many versions as you add to the cost) and it consumed the weapons and some mats (ascendant shard?) For one copy of the weapon with the combined perks... But maybe as a cool bonus: it has all of the perks from all the used weapons selectable... that would be really cool I think.

You should be able to combime guns, like if you got firefly on one hung jury and rapid hit on another be able to mix both into one
-
Have a option like in raids where you use spoils to purchase weapon but rolls instead

3 RepliesThe best way to accomplish this would be by using the same system used on the Lure for the wrathborn hunts or the Menagerie rune system. One of the biggest issues with the game is that there is no ONE system for generating the loot that we want to get. Purely crafted gear would be a mistake IMO. But the ability to limit what possible rolls we can acquire? That makes a lot of sense. Make it currency based. Just like menagerie/hunts/battlegrounds/override. Do activities, get currency, use currency to focus the mguffin for whatever end game activity you want. Bingo Bango. No more threat detector field prep snipers. No more pulse monitor, auto loading fusion rifles, etc...
-
Absolutely, would be great to see light at the end of the tunnel by being able to spend resources to modify 4 out of 5 rolls etc. Problem is, we are talking about Bungie here. I would trust a different game dev with a system like that. Bungie on the other hand would just make it so, one perk reroll costs 1k silver or makes you grind for 58 hours for a new material to use on ONE random reroll of ONE perk. So nah, i'm good lol

2 RepliesI am affraid that that rng system is terrible and maybe planed to increase a level of grind to MAX! After 6 GMs I didn´t get not even single one Hung Jury last Week, and then the other 6 runs I have get the 5-6 Scouts but everytime with Bottomless Grief!? Is that coincidence? No I don´t think so,and I am not the only one, there are so many similar complains here! That´s just bad, very bad...
-
Yeah, if they truly want this game to be more like an MMO, that'd be the way to go.
-
A crafting system to put our mats, mod components, and what not too would be nice. I would implement the system through Banshee where you have to earn the weapon first, then say do certain tasks to unlock perks and masterworks and what not, then proceed to craft the weapon using your resources. It'd be a bit on the long end and expensive but it would be a way to get exactly what you want on a gun if you don't want to farm for it. I would also say with this system, make it so that say you get a god roll of something but its not good at the time, dont want to save it, need to dismantle it, etc. you can make it a template and then you can craft that exact roll again whenever you want to.
-
4 RepliesCaught this post on one of my more positive days. I'm going to ask you straight up. Why on Earth would you trade one grind for another? That's what would happen. Bungie would give you the ability but make a steep grind to get it. You'd go from being active.......to sitting in the tower all the time.
-
4 RepliesRNG in any game is a terrible ideal. All weapons and armor should start off with a base model frame. And from there, you should be able to earn/upgrade that weapon and armor to any desired perk and stats through grinding for resources, materials and objectives, this is how the bounty system should work. Able to earn any desired stats and perks with set maximums. Don’t like the scope? Switch it out for an upgraded model which you earn. Do like the mag size? Same concept and so forth. Bungie is lazy on this design of the game and it’s boring. Being able to truly customize your weapons and armor through playing the game should have been implemented years ago. The closet they ever got to this was D1 vanilla when you’d upgrade perks on weapons through experience. Bounties in this game are complete utter garbage. Seriously, they should just call this game Destiny: Bounty Hunter. Because that’s all this game is. Everything is tied to bounties and quests(aka bounties with more steps). But hey, it won’t ever happen and Bungie will keep putting out lazy half baked, reissued, recycled, reintroduced, labeled as “new content” game play that is just more of the same boring hamster wheel.

1 ReplyOne Enhancement prism, 10 spoils of conquest, 10 legendary shards and 50 weapon parts to reroll the entire gun or make another thing like the upgrade module to do that. Balanced to me :)

Re roll mechanics and infusion for glimmer was great in d1
