I wanted to take time to talk about stasis and the affect it gas had on me during my time using it. But I want it to be a question for you Guardians to answer. Do you remember the time when we were all hyped for the release for Beyond Light (Arrivals ending event was amazing though) and wanting to get into it ASAP. Well, I feel like temptation had a hold of us from the release of the Stasis reveal trailer. At first glance, I felt excited to try out this new power. Of course, I used it right after finishing the campaign. After finishing my Warlock on stasis I went on over to my other character's. But the moment the season of the hunt was coming to its end, I felt...lost. As I read the lore of the dark future, I started to feel disconnected from the light. The betrayal, the greed, the emptiness, it started to take over. A moment it grew stronger was the moment I got the Necrotic Grips. The use of it and the warlock stasis melee, made me think it would be my role for almost everything. But a combination of those things were too strong for someone like me at that time to realize that they were too powerful to use. Hell, I noticed my arms shaking while using the grips. The moment those feelings grew stronger was during private matches with friends. I witnessed disadvantages between light classes between Stasis. You can't do anything until you get trapped in a duskfield grenade then shot by Felwinter's Lie. The feeling of being frozen reminded me of the Stranger and her struggles going through time. It feels like a loop, endless and inescapable just like the stranger and her attempts to save Ana from being consumed by the dark. I knew from start that stasis had no affect on our Guardian, seeing as though we already had our vengeance against Uldren, and vengeance is a form of greed. Eramis was overcome by rage and vengeance to the Traveler for leaving the Eliksni. But in the end, we defeat her and finally have stasis to ourselves just like the light. But everything Variks said is true. The darkness manipulates the user, reaching into its desires and using their thoughts and memories against them. So, if our Guardian has no pull to greed, who else is Variks refering to? The answer to that question, is us. Us, meaning as the players, are the people I'm talking about. Think about it. Who here has used stasis the moment you acquiring it and has never used anything of the light? Even if you've used the light in the past, it doesn't excuse the fact of how much you've used stasis after getting it. Not to mention that Necrotic Grips, Mask of Bakris, and Icefall Mantles are extra enhancements to the stasis aspect. Many people in crucible have already shown the capabilities of these combinations. I'm not gonna lie, I've started to get a headache near the end of writing. But after writing all of this, I really need a breather for my brain. But just to let you all know, this isn't a post to try and stop you from using stasis. Veterans, just remember the good old days from Destiny when there was no darkness. When we dominated raids with our light and the light of fallen Guardians (Gorgoroth specifically and sorry if the name is spelled wrong). To any New Lights to Destiny 2. Take it from a vet who has played the original game. Use the darkness if you need to, but never let it control you like it did with Eramis.
