I still don't think sun setting is necessary

The new weapons added with beyond light are really good and have new perks and it just makes me think sun setting is unnecessary. If a weapon perk gets out of control Bungie should nerf it, they don't need to make weapons unusable to stop power creep. But sun setting is not that big a deal imo, I just wanted to talk about it so that maybe it could be changed even a little bit. Also bring back the forsaken annual pass weapons but like put them in legend lost sectors on old planets like nessus and edz, cause that would make old planets more interesting. Also also make it so when you finish the legend lost sectors on those planets you can open the chest at the end multiple times with that specific lost sectors planets planetary materials. Anyway this second paragraph is less important than the first one.. I just wanted to get some of my ideas out.

  • Sunsetting is a reality in most MMOs I'm not sure why Destiny players in particular have an issue with it... Oh no you can't use the same spare rations for the games entire lifespan that's insane bro.

    • It's not. Now go to your vault and just start deleting! I guarantee you - It's liberating! You will not feel the same about destiny on the way out. You will understand the DREAM IS OVER! What's left behind is okay. Fun? Kinda. Whenever I start taking Destiny too serious, I just go in my vault and delete 10 masterworks guns w/ stat trackers... It's okay. You care more than they do. It helps break the cycle. Embrace it. Hell, I haven't even bought beyond light yet! It's not worth forty bucks in a free game? Everything I've ever bought or done in Destiny bungie eventually gave away. This is the way.

      • Turns out it was never about weapon diversity, player choice, powercreep or sandbox balancing. It was about keeping hamsters in a hamsterwheel dangling the very same rewards that they've already earned. Bungie's reply: ***SILENCE*** Don't buy it, don't support it - If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

      • The only part I agree with sunsetting was getting the pinnacles out of circulation, but other than that it really doesn’t feel needed. Way to many legendarys got hit with the change and I think a few should have been exempt for getting capped
dreaming city and moon weapons
• Simply put for me they sunset the wrong things at the wrong time. They sunset things which simply have no replacement. As in not even in same area code of being a replacement.

      • So normally, a lot of mmo do sunset gear because powercreep is a very real thing. Bungie unfortunately has the infusion system so sun setting feels weirder than it usually should. I do understand the bigger picture though I.E Moving away from damaging perks on all your weapons and more so on build diversity

        • Sunsetting was necessary but was executed exceptionally poorly. -Forsaken and Shadowkeep loot should have still be relevant -We still need regular and meaningful sandbox updates so all weapon archetypes sees the light of day -Weapons should have at a minimum a 1.5-2 year time period before it gets sunsetted -Armor Sunsetting never should have happened -RNG should have been improved due to Sunsetting. We should be allowed to re-roll masterworks and have more targeted farming methods towards perks we actually want. -Much like armor 2.0, weapons need a 2.0 IF we are going to keep Sunsetting as is with a 1 year time table. Weapons should have a mod-based system similar to armor 2.0. Just farm all the weapon “mods/perks” you want. -We should have had a total and complete vendor refresh of new gear from all D2 vendors. Keep in mind that Bungie has stated that they do not have the resources to do vendor refreshes like the community would like them to do... they should potentially hire a company similar to Activision for the added resources with a good negotiation to keep some sort of independence as well.

I knew Sunsetting was gonna flop, but I still had a sliver of hope. I thought “Maybe, just maybe, the new weapons will be strong enough or fun enough to warrant the Sunsetting system” Nope. I literally have 0 interest in any of the new weapons outside of the raid weapons. I don’t even feel like grinding now. If I get a decent roll great, if not oh well. Hell, I hardly even check the perk roll anymore, I just check the power level. If it’s higher than what I got I keep it, if not I dismantle it. Destiny has managed to make me not care about their loot at all.

            • Could have just made pinnacles into exotics. Remove any old gear from the current pool. Easy fix IMO.

              • Bruh this is fantastic. I'm so happy to be using new weapons instead of using the same old crap from two years ago. Is everyone seriously not enjoying the current weapons? Then you guys have not played this game enough. I get it sunsetting sucks. Trust me I felt the same way in D1 and they had sunset year 1 exotics too! But playing D2 I understand why they did sunset basically every year in D1. I would've never used the weapons from the next expansions if they had never done it and I never noticed that. Now going in to D2 I see the problem with them not doing it. There is basically no point in creating more content if they don't sunset because statistically speaking the D2 community used nothing but forsaken era weapons the year following and from the way you guys are complaining it sounds like you guys would still be using them. No one appreciates the work bungie puts into the weapons they make. The lore, the looks for the seasons and or expansions, or the time they put into them. If you guys think any other rpg does it differently you are sorely mistaken my friends. They all have weapon archetypes and they all are basically the same (with the exception of different perks if they even have any at all) thing that they make every expansion or season. So I don't get what all the complaining is about. If you don't like this style of game then go play something else. I'm not saying it to be mean I'm saying it for your sake because they are not gonna change the system they got. They are gonna continue to update this (apparently) flawed system the way they feel and nothing's really gonna stop them. It would honestly do you better to stop investing in this if you don't believe in it.

                    • In the past, when Bungie wanted a perk gone, they simply either removed it (final round, shot package, etc...) or they changed how it worked (field scout, white nail, etc...). Not sure who took the stupid pills at Bungie. This method of "cleaning up" mistakes could have gone over a little better than sunsetting...

                      • This expansion has killed my love for the game, sunsetting all the stuff i spent hours upon overs over the last 2 years or so but then one of the worst expansions with zero loot to chase basically is unforgivable. One thing for sure i wont be giving Bungo anymore money, bring on Cyberpunk.

                        • Sunsetting never was necessary. Still the same lame excuses made by Bungie. Anyway. We won't change it. Bungie won't change it. Their way to direct the game into the direction they want. And easier for them cause they do not need to balance all the stuff. Fewer armour and weapons means less to worry about.

                        • I agree, sunsetting doesn't make any sense. Especially since they’ll be bringing most weapons back in the future. No one wants to regrind for stuff they already have. Especially if they already have the god roll they grinded for.

”It’s easier & much cheaper for us to sunset the weaponry & armour, so we can just simply change the power cap number & re-release it later on as ‘new content’ in further monetised DLC’s - (coming soon....a hidden Black Armoury forge on Europa, isn’t that exciting?) - Throw Money - we need it, working from home & creating content is hard!😔🥺” ~ Bungle

                          • Because using the same load-out from year 2 all the way into 3 or 4 makes sense, they overshot with weapons it was obvious. It's why they nerfed the LH, NF and Recluse. I'm all for a reskin of a few weapons as long as there is mostly new weapons.
