When people comment on (and check) the forums daily, but supposedly they’ve “quit” playing, I never used to believed them. And now I’m one of those people...
I check the forums every day in hopes to hear that the decision to sunset weapons has been reversed. Nothing yet. It’s hard to believe that a game that I’ve loved (and made so many friends through) is likely coming to an end.
I loved this game so much, but now that I’m losing all my weapons (and destinations/ raids/ other content) I have a hard time seeing why I would stick around. I’m all for re-living the nostalgia of VoG, but I’m not okay with losing other raids at its expense (especially when I can pop in D1 and run it with fatebringer/ doctrine/ Gally/ icebreaker/ etc.).
I get that I’ll still have my weapons, but they will only be good for quick play. Pretty soon, they will be under leveled for even basic activities like patrols. I understand the “we’re trying to make room” argument, but I’d rather hand over 60$ and keep my content.
This is the first season in a long time where I have no motivation to play. And why would I? Once the dungeon is complete, there’s no reason to keep playing - the handful of new weapons did not impress, and there is a fancy new watermark to remind me that the countdown to extinction has already begun.
My friends and I are debating whether or not we want the next expansion. Maybe we will log in a few more times to enjoy the guns we worked hard to get and to have a few more laughs at Calus’ expense before he drifts off into the sun. But I guess I’ll have to keep checking the forums, everyday until September, hoping for what we all want.

See you in IB later

7 RepliesEdited by An Error: 7/3/2020 11:13:14 PMI always check the game history of players who say that quit x time ago, and they almost always show consistent daily play for months. People just say it to make their points sound more valid or to uno reverse someone’s point

4 RepliesIf/When I decide to leave Destiny I will leave it all...app, forums, news....all of it. I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon though😉
-
1 ReplyYou dont like the new weapons this season? They're some of the best we've gotten all year. Whatchu mean they didn't impress?
-
3 RepliesTo be honest I’m having more fun this season than than the past few, and I’m looking forward to the new content.

To be honest I'm starting to reach my breaking point with this game as well and as much as I don't want to hang up the mark (crayon munchers forever!) It's just gotten so tiring to see a series I pretty much accidentally fell in love with just be reduced to... Well... This! I want to see this game get better, I want to see Bungie realize that they can't just keep screwing over veteran players and the playerbase in general. I'm giving the game just a bit more time this season and hopefully might at the very least make some attempt to make things right with the playerbase they've practically alienated in favor of sweatfest streamers. Even then, my expectations are at an all time low, this season is make or break for me.

Honestly, I love the game as well, but the only thing that I seem to have done since the season came out is do only 2 of the many vendor's bounties on all of my characters and just wait until something new comes out. Almost 5 weeks now and finally something new is coming out, possibly as well as being buggy, seeing how Bungie "promised" us on how much they are going to make the game better. Now I'm at rank 100 and I am literally going to do nothing on Destiny until something new comes out.

I think a lot of people are in agreement with you. The hamster wheel os breaking to me and i might be getting off. Good luck!

Myself and my entire Clan eventually all quit either at the launch of or shortly after Shadowkeep. All of us, and I literally mean the whole ~12 of us - were hardcore, dedicated Destiny players that did and had everything there was to do in the first and second Destiny. We attained all extremely rare emblems and whatnot, and... just... meh. Personally, I didn't play Destiny 2 for long past initial launch and I only came back for Forsaken to - once again - quit as Shadowkeep launched. Since initially quitting Destiny, I have only lurked on these forums. Watching, reading, seeing Cosmo lose his once great reputation as he is told to defend Luke Scarablord. Well, I can't say I can faithfully play or ever come back to Destiny, as much as I have loved it. The game has such incredible potential, such a fantastically immersive lore and characters. It's, quite literally; being destroyed by the Executives at Bungie as they constantly tell bold-faced lies such as; "We don't ever want to take away your time investment again." and then decide to sunset ALL gear and remove over half of the games content that was PAID FOR by a vast majority of their playerbase. This is, bar none; the most shady game development I have ever seen in my tenure of gaming.

I never cared if people quit before, but that was my 23-year Bungie fandom probably getting in the way. Yet my interest in the Destiny franchise finally fizzled our last season. The F2P/seasonal/sunsetting combo put the nail in the coffin. And the fact they’re doubling down on D2, when really we needed D3? I’m playing Myth II and the MCC — games that still kick ass because Bungie kicked ass back then.

"we all want". Not true.

When I quit Destiny 2 I've been genuinely happier. The game has been one failure after another and the future looks bleak. If the season pass wasn't gifted to me I would've never bought it, and been out even earlier. I'm not buying the expansion my friends who were done by Black Armory are never returning to this poor excuse for a game. Our eyes are on Outriders now while we enjoy other actually decent games like Code Vein and God Eater 3. If you feel like dropping Destiny 2 then the rest of us that have and hang around here will say "great welcome to the world of actually good games" pat you on the back and send ya on your way.

2 RepliesJust checked my game history. Stopped playing in December 2018, but came back in January 2019 (I'm guessing to suss out Niobe Labs?) and played for 67 minutes across two days. Haven't played again since... Still come back to the forums in the hopes that they make some positive changes. Unfortunately, between Sunsetting and constantly flicking back and forth between CBMM and SBMM hoping something different will happen, I can't see anything changing for the good in the next year at least...
-
14 RepliesHey, on the bright side you can buy an emblem to help streamers make a living sucking new light players into this game
-
5 RepliesThe forums are more fun than the game, sadly. I'd suggest checking the forums two or three times a week... You are not going to miss anything. It helps break the cycle. I no longer watch lore videos. Houndish Rah-Rah vids. Podcasts... It's freeing.

1 ReplyUnfortunately a few will gladly regrind the same guns and armor with rolls they already had to be at max light because they need to be max light because that’s all that matters in life right? Bungie could take their car and home away and force them to restart their payments and they’d still happily start from 0. 😂😂😂 If people want to use the same gun or drive the same street legal antique car that they -blam!-ing earned and took care of, -blam!-ing let them. Stop being lazy and make better guns and faster cars that’ll give people the OPTION to upgrade. When bungie does something that even makes kellygreen go mia and not defend them, they definitely are on some bs that no one can be ok with. Should’ve believed us. Stopped supporting bungie since the first season pass in D1. Even deleted the app for couple years. Got most of the pinnacles and did all raids/content that new light f2p offered, (another amazing, long story 😂😂😂), and uninstalled without hesitation when it got boring and that didn’t take long at all.

Edited by He-Menes: 7/4/2020 4:48:32 PMIt is this way because you have streamers saying "sunsetting is bad" and one second later "I HATE MOUNTAIN TOP, REMOVE IT FROM THE GAME!". It's really boring to read the same old "I'm tired of using the same weapons over and over and over" and then "don't sunset my weapons, I wanna keep using my same loadout over and over and over". It's as boring as it is to read "REMOVE MOUNTAIN TOP!" and "sunsetting is bad" from the same player.

3 RepliesIm one of those people you never believed. I left the game after forsaken, made a huge post why and everything. Naturally i got flamed and told to play a dofferent game instead of trying tonmake d2 better. So thats what i did. Then i figured i pick up the current season pass to see how things were going (it was only $10 so i though f it not a huge investment) and nothing has changed. I was excited about the next dlc, as a huge lore nut i was really happy and hyped to finally get darkness powers. But in the same reveal they anounced sunsetting and the dcv where they would be removong 50% of the games content. Thays when they killed my hype and my hope, after i get my moneys worth with this season im checking out again. The community looks like its not interested in a quality game, they only want to shoot aliens in the head no matter how bad everything around it feels. And the devs are glued to a slow clunky engine from 2008 and embrace anti consumer practices. I really was hoping they would make a d3, but now that thats not happening i think ill stay gone for the next 3 years. The game is a sinking ship and i just dont want to be on it when it finally hits the ocean floor.

to bad you threw a fit and quit before you actually saw what they are gonna do you dont know what kind of perks or weapons gonna come out maybe pinnacles come back. But if it makes you that mad then good for you for quitting but its not gonna change bungies decision . best of luck to you
-
I am not a fan of sun setting and I hate cbmm. But there is new subclasses coming out this fall. That’s pretty much awesome. I don’t think I will quit for long.
-
1 ReplyYup the game has turned into a mess. Sunsetting more bugs with every content drop reissuing powercapped gear you already possess recycling way too much content without any innovation lies from the devs (we value your time lol) underwhelming events and rewards (I'm looking at you corridors of time) bounty grindfest Trials halfbaked peer to peer pvp after many years of asking for improvement Cheaters breaking the game for months before recieving a ban Nerfs, Nerfs, Nerfs And i can go on with this list. The trailer for Beyond Light looked cool tho, but i'm not giving Bungie any money for the first time in years. We all know they are good at hyping stuff. I'm not a buying a product in such state, especially when the devs have decided to be deaf towards the the community.

Sunsetting gonna make so many people quit destiny 2 bungie they don't care about the players how much they grind to get them stats and god rolls they are just flushing them in the toilet all that effort of a player i'd rather play a another game that has more caring developers and not shit on a gamers progress and achievements you are too lazy to make this game better so you do this lazy sunset sht shame on all of you this is going to be the last 2 months i play this game after that i am going to quit because i don't want to grind from nothing all over again i would rather put my time on a another game that don't piss on the players and there effort.plus most of us don't have that kinda time what are you thinking bungie can't you understand this ??? what your doing to the players shame on you all i will never play this game after that update plus you are just giving us the same version of the weapon with a higher power cap on the next season wtf is that WE Already got that same version of the weapon with good rolls we don't want to grind that same weapon with higher power cap again over and over this is madness what you are doing!! is just breaking up your own player community also Games are suppose to be fun it should not feel like a chore. What your going to do is worthless and pointless hope you guys stop being lazy and just think about it before it's to late
-
1 ReplyYeah move on, no beyond light for me. May consider the witch queen DLC until then, ill just stick to free to play. Time to get into other titles that i been putting off.
-
6 RepliesYour title is so dramatic. Everything is going to be okay.
-
13 Replies
but I’m not okay with losing other raids at its expense
You honestly expect us to believe you are still playing Leviathan raids... where there is 0 good gear left in them besides catalysts or exotics which they just buffed thier chances of dropping? Really? You are comparing those raids to any of the D1 raids? REEEEEEEEAAAAAALLLY???? Cause I tend to not believe you.
-
You know this sucks for people relatively new to the light as well. I’m not even done grinding all of these weapons and soon they will be obsolete. However I have been having this experience for a long time. I spent a great deal of time grinding exotics like Malfeasance and Ace of Spades just to be told by my fire teams they are useless now and there are other weapons that need to be in your exotic slots. It sucks but with new weapons constantly coming out Bungie has never done a good job at keeping what we work hard for relevant. It’s ironic really because this is what thief fight with Activision was about when D3 was on the table. Bungie claimed they wanted to respect player time and not make them start over every few years with a new game. So instead they are just going to make us start over on weapons and armor grinding and make everything else obsolete.
