Props where props are deserved, i finally am able to get matches in a quickplay manner again. Instant queues are popping constantly at any time of the day.
Removing SBMM made me enjoy playing again, theres next to no laggy players, queues are instant, no join in progress all the time and not every match in a casual gamemode is a tryhard championship so thanks guys, please keep it like this! Theres trials and survival, that's more than enough for sweats to tryhard.
I am able to play literally 6 matches an hour now. Before the SBMM change, i was able to maybe finish 2 or 3 matches.
To the people who aren't as good and feel like they are gonna get stomped a lot more. I am telling you, you only get better when you face players that are better than you. Thats how i got better, i got stomped a lot in Forsaken. Learn and start to get better against those ppl. Also most ppl aren't being scummy about it and don't stack up as much anymore like they did in Forsaken. That's not a reason to make the experience horrible for better players with a high mmr.
8 RepliesPeople who are crap at PvP are the main complainers. They can't take losing and aren't willing to improve. For some reason, they just want every 1v1 and match to be thrown in their favour without effort. I enjoy facing top players. Sure, I'll get stomped, but I learn counters and how to actually play more effectively. After all, it's PvP, the goal is to kill. Note: I myself, am not a great PvP player.

Notice how all the afk forge farmers are crying about sbmm. We’re talking about people who aren’t even playing the game correctly trying to say cbmm is bad, lol.
-
19 Replies"not every match in a casual gamemode is a tryhard championship" FOR YOU I mean wtf - why is this so hard to understand for you? IF you are a Top 10% player you normally play in a 5-15% skill gap (50% are better, 50% are worse than you) with CBMM you play against 10% better players and 90% worse players ---> "not every match in a casual gamemode is a tryhard championship" yes FOR YOU Now look at below average players: a 70% player previously played against 65-75% players Now he plays against 70% better and 30% worse enemies where the better enemies COMPLETELY destroy him --> EVERY match in a casual gamemode is a tryhard championship for him now
-
10 RepliesA simple thought experiment shines a light on this, for better or for worse. Just imagine if every mode had two options, sbmm or cbmm. Each player could choose for themselves. What you would choose and how you'd feel about it is indicative of your true motivations on this. I think: - Low to moderate / improving skill players would largely go to sbmm and never look back. They probably aren't really hung up on a little lag, and figure it is well worth having an even-ish match. I'd guess this is probably 60-70% of the population (although not 60-70% of crucible usage). - Players that truly believe that lag and wait time are the main concerns would choose cbmm. Wait times would probably be longer than now since the pool of players would be smaller due to large numbers choosing sbmm, but since the focus of the match making is based on connection, it would be better than sbmm-for-all and I think it would be satisfactory for those players. - If you don't fall into either of those groups and dislike the whole idea of having both, then I think what you really want is to force low / moderate skill players to be matched with you so you can run through them. Just own it. Beating other players is what pvp is all about, and beating people easily is fun. Having all the players you can actually easily beat sequestered away from you is frustrating. You worked hard to climb to a high elevation, only to have the floor raise up under you, preventing access to everything you worked to master. But those easy kills are other players and they like getting kills and beating people too. Sbmm allows everyone to get some kills, win some matches, and have some fun. But if that isn't enough for you and you want to own all the time, that burden should be on you. Not on some lower skill level player expected to waste their time feeding you easy kills. It is not an easy issue to solve, but dumping everyone into cbmm and letting Shaxx sort 'em out seems like a dead-end to me.
-
I've seen where the youtubers are loving it. Probably because when they played people with the same skill base they didnt look like gods. But now they can go in and look like god's against weaker players.
-
Crucible is not fun anymore. Getting stomped is not fun. Catering to the top 1 percent is bullshit.
-
12 RepliesYou should stream your matches because we all really really care how well you can stomp noobs and scrubs. Way to go man...you are special.
-
10 RepliesHunter main, mountaintop and sidearm.. sword for most likely 3peeking. Sounds more like you're glad you can pubstomp and sweat against casual players to pad your K/D, but hey.
-
10 RepliesGrinded hours of crucible last season in the last two weeks, I had tons of fun and no connection issues. I played 8, games of pvp for the power levels this season and I'm not going back. It was the least fun I've had in pvp across any game, including halo 5. I was getting farmed for half the games and the 2 games I didn't get farmed I was getting triple teamed but whatever the best auto rifles are. I can't improve off of these games when I can barely leave spawn. I won't be going back to crucible until SBMM is back. I prefer a proper challenge, not bullshit pvp unbroken sweats stomping casual lobbies to pad their precious Kds. I'm not great, but I still had fun when I was against people of equal to slightly higher or lower skill levels
-
19 RepliesNope, disagree. Back to running into groups of unbroken sweats stomping everything again. Nice for them, rubbish for rest of player base. The only people who hated sbmm were those who hated the challenge of facing players of same skill. Its back to crap games for the average fun player now, so enjoy those queues, cos there will be far less casuals for you to stomp soon enough as we all avoid crucible. Just like before.

1 ReplyWhile your spoiler is true, it’s not universal. Some of us have been playing for years, are older, and don’t have the time to dedicate to get better. So we suffer trying to do bounties, IB, or stupid catalyst quests. And it is true that most, not all, better players enjoy it because they can drop 50’s and smash weaker players. I know this because several in my clan are those players and they’re all beaming with joy they don’t have to try and can “chill” and dump on people.
-
1 ReplyTill you go against people who go 43-0
Me, I went 43-0
SBMM prevents this to lower skilled players
-
1 ReplyYeah, it's a lot of fun facing stacks and getting absolutely steamrolled because your blueberries CAN'T CAPTURE ZONES.
-
Don't get me wrong I'm happy about the change but saying next to no laggy players is a major exaggeration. Queues are very short and I'm able to play solo again without losing my mind but the lag is still real.

8 RepliesEdited by m@rtin243: 6/15/2020 11:22:08 AMYou're are joking ? I played my first Crucible match last week for a long time, had full ammo going into the game, landed in the game with ONE shotgun shell and ONE grenade for the launcher. Fired them both off and that was it, no ammo around, get killed, respawn with ONE shell and ONE grenade, get killed by someone who you don't see, what's the point. Bungie put so much emprises on the Crucible that they need to address the problems in the match ie full of cheaters.
-
Edited by KalelKryptonian: 6/16/2020 1:01:01 AMI don't know which PVP you're playing but it is literally a soup of trash right now. With the advent of the new grenade launcher and that ridiculous lie range, people just play the low skill weapons fusion rifles grenade launchers that's pretty much it. not to mention all the mod controllers and there aim lock perk. the damage killed spot for sniper rifles is way too big in PVP. cheaters will always defend their way of playing. if you run around with fusion rifles and grenade launchers as your main weapon you're a skilless scrub, you know who you are

Connection based matchmaking is great with this hybrid network model. Sense the sarcasm? Maybe with dedicated servers but not when a local console is the source of player game data. Sure some games may be great when you get host but whenever someone using their phone as a hotspot gets host and goes 40/2 it’s gonna “they’re a try hard”. On console it’s actuality the network model that’s the problem and not skill based matchmaking.
-
I'm all for it so far. I can actually casually enjoy quickplay playlists now. It's been nothing but a tryhard sweatfest since Shadowkeep and I'm glad to be back into casual pool of players. Like if someone on the other team wants to sparebender his heart out with a 50 kill game, go for it. It's quickplay for a reason. It doesn't matter.
-
Crucible is plenty fun. Hardlight is still rampant but otherwise it's pretty enjoyable.
-
4 RepliesYeah great job bungie now all the casual players are sunsetting crucible
-
Edited by blade329: 6/15/2020 4:18:24 PMCBMM gives me no benefit whatsoever. I see no improvement of connections and I get throttled by stacked teams. There's ZERO reason for me to ever play a Quickplay match. And this bizzaro game is STILL giving me three blues after every match. LOL. Who wrote this trash?
-
Where I live there isnt alot of variation between player skill level so cbmm doesnt allow me to stomp it just relaxes everyone a little bit, i cant understand why people in other places have so many problems with it
-
Thanks for the heads up. If I'm stupid enough to set foot in the Crucible again, it will be my own fault.
-
8 RepliesIn other words, the game is only fun when you have poor players to rolfstopm. It is not fun when you play people as good as you are? Shows just what kind of person you really are, not a nice one. SBMM is the only fair way to organize PVP! Anything else you are throwing new players and less skilled players to the wolves.
-
playable...? Care to explain how is it playable? I keep matching vs stacks lol. It is the worst I've ever seen lmao coming from someone who actually grinded comp when lord of wolves with the meta and getting killed by it. Its bad its not fun either, people keep going 5 or 6 stacks every goddamn casual match this is not fun. Also, dying by people from behind walls is not fun either, or dying by someone who did not scope in and killed you with a headshot midair and denying that he is hacking is not fun either. Add killcams, fix it. Its so goddamn sweaty that am not even going to touch it beside doing the powerful bounties else am not touching it lol

So many people with the "CBMM is just for people to stomp and pad their stats" BS. Yes. Some people do that. But guess what? Some people like variety. Some people have friends of varying skill levels. Some people don't want to feel forced to run the meta just to keep up. I'm maybe slightly above average. I hardly take the game seriously. However, my friend has a disability and has rather lower stats. In SBMM, if I play with him, his lobbies get skewed towards my skill level. So while I can slay out, he gets punished for playing with a friend. My other friend has a K/DA in QP that's approaching 3.0. If I play with him in SBMM, the criteria gets skewed towards him. He can slay out, but I have to run the meta just to keep up, as nobody in his lobbies would dare run anything else. Those are major drawbacks of SBMM. It limits the potential to play with friends of varying skill levels and it limits in-game weapon/build variety. But no. Few people ever acknowledge that. Same goes for the majority of the CBMM crowd with their "git gud" nonsense. The entire debate between these two MM systems is just a bunch of kids refusing to step into the others' shoes.
