If sunsetting going to happen don't make stupid weapons rolls

if sunsetting have stupid weapons rolls is going to be horrible don't force a player to use a bad weapon Edit: Change My mind Is the perks being on the wrong gun & Archetype Wtf put hip fire on a sniper Edit 2: Bungie making pulse thingy good Thats What I like to see

    I thought that was the main reason for sunsetting. So they can make stand out weapons so they are heavily used but sunset after a year? They have to have bad perks so that every gun isn't a god roll...

    • Some people are overreacting to sunsetting but at the same time a lot of people felt like that was a relic of the past. Bungie keeps making the same mistakes over and over again without ever learning from them and the fact that this is the 4th time gear retirement has been a thing is enough proof of that. They have a lot of potential to tweak the sandbox now and make the game feel fresh without having to design all new weapons for people to chase. For example the pinnacle scout rifle that came from the vanguard has never once shined but on paper it’s a monster. With this new system being put in place even if they do go back and adjust this archetype it will never have its day in the sun. A lot of players are tired of the same old thing I get it but the game has several archetypes in it that just don’t get used due to One archetype being the best in all situations. So that limits the guns we end up using as players by quite a bit. For example out of all the new seraph weapons released this season why is the shotgun the only weapon worth getting? It’s a monster in both pve and pvp because the archetype is in a good place and it can roll with some pretty decent perk combinations. I personally love how it feels to shoots and how snappy it is with QuickDraw snapshot making it an instant aim down sights when drawing it..... people just don’t expect it to be honest. But looking at the other seraph weapons really only the machine gun is worth chasing. The auto rifle isn’t in a good archetype, the sidearm doesn’t come with a lot of perks that make sidearms good, the handcannon is a 180 which is the worst Handcannon archetype in the game and while it can come with multi kill clip that’s just about the only perk worth getting on this gun especially considering the archetype. You could make an argument that ambitious assassin paired with multi kill clip is the best roll on this gun but at the same time a 180 Handcannon is basically a sawed off scout rifle with sidearm range so it’s outclassed by the other things in its range. Now most people would look at what I’m pointing out and say yes this is why we need gear retirement but they forget that without addressing the issues these guns have it will still be the same with all new weapons coming forward. Saying these weapons need to be stronger has nothing to do with power creep and everything to do with making them easier to use or better in certain situations. The sandbox would drastically change if they addressed these issues and they wouldn’t have to go through and make all new models and all new perks. There are things you could do to adjust different archetypes without making the “power” of the weapon come forward and it being the only choice. For example if the made 140 Handcannons a two Headshot one Body it wouldn’t bring down the Ttk but it would make it more forgiving instead of having to compete with 150 rpm Handcannons in a Ttk battle. The 140’s would still shoot slower than a 150 but it would make them desirable because they are forgiving. This also still ensures that a 150 still maintains a better TTk but you have to land your headshots in a duel. So skill still comes in to play. That is just one archetype being adjusted and it opens up a whole lot of new options for people not just 150 Handcannons because they have the fastest TTk. Changes like this would open the game up a lot more without Bungie having to waste a bunch of time and energy on weapons people still aren’t going to use...... also last thing I’m perfectly ok with them just straight up upgrading pinnacles into exotic weapons..... they have unique perks that can be tuned directly without effecting the entire weapon category making it easier to balance. This change alone I think would be a great middle ground for people for and against gear retirement. If they do push forward gear retirement this would ensure that the players who grinded for these weapons would have their time respected and it would shift the meta considering nobody likes using exotics for add clear apparently even though there are plenty of legendary options for boss damage. As for rituals I don’t believe they belong in the same category as pinnacles and should be kept as legendary weapons.

      • That's why other games like WoW can sunset gear. Because that gear is static in it's stats. Destiny gear has layers of RNG for the drop you want RNG for the 3-4 rolls RNG for the masterwork By the time you roll something useful you'll be half way through that season and use it for the other half until you have to roll for shit again... Just doesn't respect player's time investment

        • Or maybe allow us to actually customize weapons to our liking? Or bring back the D1 weapon system that allowed us to customize weapon rolls? Or show us wth your doing Bungie so we aren't having to scream at you not to F up?

        • Bungie: we are going to sunset gear because power creep bad. Also Bungie: gives everyone Felwinter's Lie, which is arguably (perk and archetype) the BEST shotgun in the game and short of it being nerfed into the ground nothing will ever be better than that for a whole year unless they make an even better one. Me: 🤔 sounds like power creep, especially in PvP.

          • Embers you make some valid points and i agree that eververse should be removed from this game. But Whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let’s get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta’aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

            • Static rolls work fine with sunsetting. Like an MMO. The time invested in the random roll loot chase of the past 2 years should not be getting disrespected like this. [spoiler]What I'm caving to is they start making great loot that is very appealing (visually and otherwise) but static rolled. That can be limited in power. And weapons need a weapon type skin as transmog too. If you are going to take stuff from MMOs, put in the effort to take the [b]whole[/b] equation.[/spoiler]

              • I think it's less of the possible rolls, and more like the perk possibilities. Like pehaps the "new" handcannons will not be able to roll rangefinder. Or maybe the "new" machine gun will not be able to have rampage. Or maybe you'll be reissued your favorite auto rifle and it is not possible to roll swashbuckler. This is just the beginning, welcome to devolution.

              • I do agree. If weapons and armor are only going to be good for a year, then good rolls and stats need to be easier to acquire. Or smaller perk sets that make sense.

                • Hip fire on a weapon. Is doable. This game has some insane no scope kills if you practice and have enhanced target acquisition mods, you get a sniper with natural high TA. Now...the forge pulse with ""air assault"" that's the worst joke ever bungie made to us.

                    • Weapons 2.0 where you can actually build perks you've earned by combining guns. (Eg. You take a rapid hit spare rations and mash it together with a kill clip spare rations to get your desired roll)

                      • They're definitely trying to phase slowly phase out weapons that have a reload + damage perk. I dont think any of the current season weapons can roll both on the same weapon.

                        • Forget about. You'll see already that it'll goes this direction. Best example are the seraph weapon perk combinations, they are worse than the combinations on older weapons.

                        • You know, why even sunset when there’s things like grandmaster nightfalls that have contest mode active. I’m pretty sure being higher than the entry point doesn’t do much. Can’t wait till they keep contest mode on raids, on top of seasonal mods and less viable weapons
