I can almost guarantee it. Even if they say they won’t sunset exotics, you know they will eventually.
“We really want people to use our new exotics, such as the new confetti gun, so we’re capping the power on old exotics to encourage players to use these new guns.”
Edit: I’m aware they did it in D1. I was there since the beginning. I’m saying that it looks like history is about to repeat itself.

1 ReplySunset exotics eventually? You mean exactly like they did with armor 2.0? Sunsetting has been around for the entire lifespan of the destiny franchise.
-
195 RepliesWe have no current plans to add Max Power Levels to Exotics.

Edited by Jet2Holiday: 5/20/2020 2:55:09 AMCheck this out... I am willing to bet money this is what they gonna do eventually: 1. Add mod slots to your exotic weapons. 2. Make it so that your current acquired exotic weapons don't have that mod slot and you can't get your exotic weapons out from collections with the new mod slot until you "reacquire" them as drops!!! Tell me that ain't a Bungie move right there. 🤣🤣🤣 I am willing to bet that's what they'll do probably in a year or less. 🤣🤣🤣

agreed

I wish more exotics were even viable, there’s quite a few that have been collection pieces more than anything.

Here's a novel concept engaging quality content at consistent sustainable cadence and regular balancing updates between content drops.

Buy more silver and they might show mercy. Idiot!!
-
1 ReplyThey technically did in d1 one .You couldnt infuse them after a certain level
-
1 ReplyThey already have. Has anyone used Sleeper since it got nerfed into the ground?
-
Yup, Tom and marry spent a lot of hard work making the Lumina. Players aren’t using it so we’re leaning towards putting light caps on exotic so newer ones will be used.
-
Can’t wait. Exotics are getting old anyway.

9 RepliesEdited by Noble 6: 5/19/2020 12:48:04 AMThis is from Luke Smith's Director's Cut where he introduced the idea of weapon retirement for the first time:
One final note: We are not applying this to Exotic weapons at this time. We want to iterate on the Legendary ecosystem first.
The phrases "at this time" and "iterate on [...] first" are doing a lot of work here. Below Cozmo replied:
We have no current plans to add Max Power Levels to Exotics.
No CURRENT plans. I have heard enough corporate and PR-talk over the years to understand what this means. And what it means is that it is definitely possible for them to eventually retire exotics. Just, you know, pointing this out for all the people who have no experience with these kinds of statements.

2 RepliesSome exotics have caps. ! I would check your favorite exotic to make sure. Example is devils ruin or monti Carlo both when you infuse say max 1010 light.
-
Don't worry they still have a bunch of exotics to bring back from D1. But once those are over they can start with the ones from D2 to start the cycle. It's the dreaming city curse but with a 3 years cycle instead of 3 weeks.
-
6 Replies
I bet they’ll eventually sunset exotics too
Yep, that is their plan and Cozmo just confirmed it. They will do what they did in the first game in the first year and make you regrind a few of the exotics but call them "new exotics". All the while barley adding anything actually new. Got to give them props for knowing how to keep players regrinding and regrinding... for years now for the exact same loot 👍
-
Just Sunset boulevard the whole stinking game. It's 2011 quality anyway
-
Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
Considering how they’ve been careful to say things like ‘no current plan’ does indicate to me that at least some exotics likely to be sunset at some point. -
2 RepliesI think it'll be fine if they added new, improved versions. Just seems everyone here can't bare to use anything other than mountain top recluse.
-
2 RepliesHow much?

2 RepliesDestiny 3 will probably SUNSET most of the loot. I hope they immediately halt production so that you guys can wallow in self pity..... .....you know to save the galaxy. PATHETIC

Edited by Ezio Auditore: 5/18/2020 12:57:17 PMI know it's not out yet, but the Confetti Gun needs to be nerfed.
-
That’ll be the day ...
-
You mean the 50 D1 exotics the community begged for. I hope so
-
They did in the first one and made you re get them for the end game TTK & RoI. They better not in this cuzz they also made exotic weapon quest not fun to do or enjoyable. If they sun set exotics I'm out I don't want to keep re playing & re acquiring the same lame content for another 2 years.
-
Many (MANY) of our exotics are still sunset from D1. Some made a return, but many did not. Bungie's response to that would be: "They are not truly sunset - you can go back and play with them in D1." When asked why they did not return in D2? .......crickets.......
-
Ya easier to sunset then finish all the catalysts.
