Transmog for Weapons | A Solution to Weapon Retirement

With weapons essentially being retired, what does that do for the weapon ornaments some have purchased, and many have earned? A big gripe I have with the power cap for weapons is that I won't be able to rely on my favorite looking weapon. I spent a lot of time grinding for my seraph shotgun ornament, and in a year's time, there will be no reason for me to use it. So...what? Was my grind essentially worthless? Or what if I purchased a weapon ornament, or bought it with bright dust? My money or in-game currency is wasted now? The best solution to this issue is at best: Transmog for weapons. And at least: Universal weapon ornaments. First, I'd like to address that although I don't like the sunset of weapons, it is necessary. However, one positive that should emerge from this loss, is the ability to keep using the appearance of weapons we have earned. You may think that it's pointless and would take away the uniqueness of weapons. Well, couldn't the same be said about the current ornaments for armor, and soon, transmog. However, the uniqueness of weapons ultimately comes down to the player, and each player will have their own subjective view on a weapon. Just think about it. Wouldn't it be great to have more customization over your weapons? A rapid fire Mindbender's ambition? Obviously, it would only look like it, but it would be refreshing to have that in the game. There have been a large number of weapons that look cool, but I don't give them the time of day since they lack range or rpm. This would be such a breath of fresh air into the game to give players that level of customization, on top of armor transmog! In a perfect world, weapons transmog would be a copy of what it is for armor. But I'm sure I speak for many who may agree that we'd even settle for just existing weapon ornaments to be applicable. We are essentially losing our weapons, this is how we can still use them in some capacity.

 • If Bungie is dumb enough to follow through with this, then I think reworking weapon ornaments is a great idea. But. . .
First, I'd like to address that although I don't like the sunset of weapons, it is necessary.
This is where you are wrong. Bungie has been lying to themselves, and thus lying to the players. There is a simple fix to everything they think is a problem with the sandbox right now, and it doesn't require sunset.
