I was playing the Outer Worlds on Xbox, and my main quest was taking me to a rebellion on the outskirts of the planet, to kindly ask them to stop broadcasting a message so I could broadcast my own.
Well, they agreed, but I would have to do stuff for them first.
I didn't wanna do another lengthy quest step, so I simply slaughtered them all
Now, fast forward to before I went and sought out the Iconoclasts (the rebellion)... There was a mother who was distraught because her son ran away to join the Iconoclasts, to make a difference. I promised I'd find him and bring him back, since he was on my way and I didn't have a problem doing 2 quests retroactively.
Well, after I slaughtered all the Iconoclasts I went to find the son, and found him in a house, chillin like a villain. But when I attempted to talk to him, he turned around and SHOT me. Now, I had AI companions with me, and they went ballistic and pulled out melee weapons and started bashing the poor dude's skull in, killing him.
He literally JOINED the Iconoclasts and so he was technically an enemy.
Anyway, I took a family heirloom off his body, a ring with a personal message on the inside from his father, and brought it back to his mother, and LIED that he died on the way to the Iconoclasts, leaving out that I was the one who technically slayed him...
So now I'm the big sad, because she left me and cried all the way to her porch, and gave me a large sum of money.
father forgive me
I haven’t finished the game, but my first play through I screwed over the people leaving edgewater. I broke when I had to actually deal with the consequences of my actions. Isn’t that a new thing for modern gaming...

1 ReplyI know you may be sad now, but the important part is that you got the money
