just remove the quest step or have it skipped with like 10 matches played or something because this step is bs

180 RepliesWe've been passing all of the feedback on this step along to the team. We'll let you know if there will be any changes to future Iron Banners this season.

Edited by SgtMac31253: 12/31/2019 10:13:53 PMA quest that allows you to use your tokens is the real BS. I played for exactly 1 day and basically was like " why am I running this hamster wheel"? F that noise. I'd rather work on my obelisks since power is a joke in this game anyway. Give us 10 more levels of soft cap space and then nerf everything, disgusting.

13 RepliesJust put aside the heavy quest step for a second. Why is there a quest at all. Tokens are an awful system but if you have grinded out a stack of tokens then you have EARNED them. For the game to say good job for earning the tokens but your not allowed to spend them is a s**t system. Forcing you to do the quest on each character is unbelievably s**t. My IB pinnacle rewards were all in the same weapon slots. As a solo player IB is my only source of pinnacle gear so no advancement for me this month. This game is all kinds of broken at the moment

1 ReplyWasn’t too difficult, but dealing with the circle jerk every game to get heavy was ridiculous, a lazy tactic by Bungie.
-
This step wasn't a bad step. If anything it should've helped you learn to guard heavy w/ your team. Heavy is shared, any and all can grab it. I understand that for some players it's harder than others, but it wasn't out of reach.

5 RepliesHey Bungie! I love this game and I play it every day. As always, I offer special kudos to your Sound Design team, the audio content is always amazing. I'm writing today because I didn't really enjoy the first week of Iron Banner Season 9. First of all, contrary to all the amazing additions to the game, Iron Banner still gives out the same selection of weapons and armor that it has for past seasons - there is nothing new. In Seasons 8 and 9, there have been dozens of new weapons and armor sets introduced to the game... so why not make some new stuff specific to Iron Banner? Second, this rocket launcher quest step. I don't mind difficult objectives or trying new gear styles but, in my opinion, the rocket launcher quest step has a negative effect on the play style intended for Iron Banner. With this quest active, hardly anyone plays the objective. People end up going rogue and hanging out around the heavy ammo... they don't seem to fight to win the match, they only fight to finish this quest step. Third, I'm kind of perturbed that Iron Banner token redemption is tied to finishing the quest. Again, I love this game and appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. But unlike the rest of the in-game activities, playlists, and quests, this season's Iron Banner hasn't been as fun for me. I almost wish this rocket launcher quest step could be its own quest in one of the other Crucible playlists; maybe with more rocket launcher strikes required for completion. That being said, I thank you again for the overall awesome game. Keep up the good work! Happy New Year to ALL! PS: To folks who might reply 'git gud' or some-such nonsense: during this past week's Iron Banner I fared pretty well. I finished near, or at, the top of team list (most of the time) and with random teams, I saw plenty of wins. I finished the IB quest on two of my three characters, generated hundreds of IB tokens and other resources, and I reset my Valor rank multiple times. I'm not here to 'whine' because something was difficult. I'm here to give feedback about the way an in-game activity affected the gameplay for me, which is exactly why this forum exists. Thanks.

10 is pretty reasonable - especially with shared ammo crates.

I hated this step with my hunter. Played IB again with my titan and finished rocket kills in 4 matches. Weird. Disclaimer: I finished the IB quest on my titan 3 hours before reset. That may have helped?
-
What's the big deal with this step? I did it in a few games not even scrubbing it up with Wardcliff. You people seriously whine about everything.
-
17 Repliesimagine it taking more than a few matches to get 10 measly rocket kills wow can't wait for all the crying for making trials easier to flawless or making the unbroken title meaningless casuals have to ruin it for us
-
24 RepliesHow is it possible that you can't finish this? Bubble Titan. Time the heavy spawns. Protect yourself and your team. Wardcliff Coil. It's not Bungie's fault if you can't figure this out.

1 ReplyEdited by Major: 12/31/2019 9:36:46 AMIt’s not that this step is difficult. It promotes a play style that isn’t good for iron banner is the problem. It wouldn’t be so bad if iron banner were something like clash. When you have an objective based mode like control, then introduce a quest step that revolves around players abandoning the objective to secure heavy ammo, it’s bad for everyone else on the team. Not that there’s any incentive to play the objective as it is. I wouldn’t personally change iron banner to clash as some suggest. I would, instead, make the bounties/quests each season require zone captures and/or having zone advantage in order to progress faster. It promotes team play and caters to the objective. You already have one bounty in play that requires kills while holding zone advantage called maneuver warfare. Why not extend that in some form to the other bounties. Example: an arsenal of tricks - Defeat opponents with final blows from any ability. Earn bonus progress for supers (25%) and opponents with higher power level. (10%) Gain more progress for kills while holding zone advantage. (Additional 15% on top of other bonuses)
-
Totally, spending the full time of the match watching heavy is the most boring thing to do EVER!!! And that mad dash back if someone takes u out? literally at least 10 people in that same match are doing the exact same thing so no1 really is capturing the zones 🤣🤣
-
Anyone notice in the emote menu there is something new? Introductory emote with a crucible icon
-
Just use wardcliff. Also don’t forget to play with friends that can help you camp the heavy. Oh wait your a solo player and don’t have friends to play with. It’s as if the game wasn’t made for solo players at all. Sorry doing the whole asshole thing just works sometimes. But I understand the problem but if I had to do it so do you. Just like the whole trying to use mountain top for the grenade launcher part of last banner quest without realiseing you need to use a heavy grenade launcher not mountain top.

Edited by blade329: 1/1/2020 5:39:27 AMThey really need to go back to the Iron Banner format from Destiny 1 and also improve the weapons.
-
Did I suck at pvp I uaslly get less than 10kills a match but even I was able to get rocket step done with wordcliff coil took me 15 matches plus u know how many people it will set off if they so after they had to grind it out
-
1 Replywoah, I think they listened. I logged on today and the Iron Banner was completely removed from the game! Thanks for the post!
-
Edited by Tri-Dragon47: 1/1/2020 3:43:17 AMThat quest is not that hard....... I just wish it had two rocket ammo. If enemy kill one of our ally and make hard time reload...... it give slim chance ally can kill enemy and force heavy ammo drop.
-
The rocket launcher part really wasn’t that hard at all. I don’t have a problem with quests like this, BUT for something brand new! Not old gear. There should be no quest attached to not only get old armor, but to even turn in tokens. All around fail.
-
it's annoying. Personally, i'd start a game. If we didnt' get heavy, i backed out and joined a new game. rinse and repeat. Because if you end up in a lobby where the entire other team are fighting tooth and nail for heavy, bubbling it, grenading and walling it off and youre the only one on your team trying to secure it you'll go entire games without getting heavy. That happened and it was better to just quit out and find another lobby. Especially when i didn't really want to play iron banner.
-
I agree, I didn't make, I played some, but was not even able to catch any heavy ammo, everyone was practically camping around it to get some.
-
11 RepliesSome of y’all can’t get 10 rocket kills LOL
-
15 RepliesThe problem with this step is it COMPLETELY defeats the purpose of IB Control. We should be trying to still get territory and kills (which is still somewhat fun), but the rocket step really makes you have to either have a team plan for heavy ammo or camp it and hope to the Destiny Gods the other team forgot about it. I was actually having some decent fun and this step sucked the life out of it. I usually do Iron Banner on all three characters, but I haven't stepped foot in it since. I do not think I will this time; it is all due to the step. I completed it BTW.
-
3 RepliesGet rid of the quest. Its stupid. Should be able to jump in and get weapon/armor drops from the start. Need to go back to the D1 formula. It worked.
-
7 RepliesI’d like to see the percentages of players that completed this step and how many matches it took on average.
