So I entered the ever toxic SBMM Iron Banner with my Wizened Rebuke and Austringer only to be greeted by Arbalest, Not Forgotten, Dust Rock Blues, Wardcliff Coil, Lord of Wolves, -type loadouts. We were losing and my teammates weren't doing anything to help, so instead of complaining about it I swapped to my best counter... Tap the Trigger, Firmly Planted Erentil. I was able to bring back the game and secure the win. After the game I got the strangest string of messages: Stranger: Who hurt you bro? Honestly I'm just concerned about the chain of events that led you to ruining a fun pass time for others? I'm all ears. Me: I'm playing the game the way it's meant to be played, you can thank the people on your team using NF, DRB, WC, Arbelest, as I didn't swap to my Erentil until I saw that. Look at everyone else's loadouts. Stranger: If that's the way it was meant to be played, every weapon would one shot from 50 yards. Switching to it is even worse what a petty mentality, only because you are losing. Use something that challenges you as a player, like come on man Me: SBMM forces me to carry or we get obliterated Stranger: SBMM and Erentil don't belong in the same context. What are you hoping to gain? Like I said you are literally just ruining the fun for everyone else for no reason, just some pixels on a screen. Me (wondering if he thinks I should just let him kill me, like his enjoyment is more important than my own): My own enjoyment Stranger (believing there is some sort of morality in video games): AND the detriment of others I see. Well hope what eats away at you is eventually conquered and you make peace with your demons. Everyone's got theirs, take it easy I guess. Me: Blame Bungie, you're not playing the same game as everyone else who is actually trying to win. Stranger (apparently believing that if you use meta weapons, the same as anyone else, that there is something wrong with you): That's besides the fact, I'm talking about your mentality and personality. Your load out speaks volumes and I was just concerned for your well-being. Hope all is good. All I was trying to do was see the other side of it, why people decide to play like scum (because they want to win maybe?) but I guess its always due to personal gratification (well obviously, I don't play video games for other's enjoyment, lmao). Whatever floats your boat man, just be wary about how you impact others by how you play is all I'm getting at. Me: I'm playing by the rules just like everyone else. Arbalest is just fine though? DRB, WC, NF-type loadouts are just fine right? What do you expect people to use in a SBMM environment? I literally have to play against unbrokens all day. Stranger (passive aggressive trolling showing to the max at this point): I was just concerned about you in this context, that doesn't mean I'm excusing those other loadouts. We are in the same situation but I don't swap to a broken weapon and kill the fun for others (I'm just supposed to not try to win by using my best weapons against other people who are using their best weapons, right?) The end. Why do people self-impose some sort of crazy unwritten moral code on how people are supposed to play the game? If there's anything I've learned playing destiny is that people will use what they want, you can't stop it. It's Bungie's job to balance PVP, so blame Bungie. Don't hate the players, hate the game. If everyone else is using degenerate loadouts, I'm going to do the same. Why should anyone make the game unenjoyable for themselves just to make others happy?
