I had hoped for a little more effort on Bungies part to release something for us to be excited about completing. A worthwhile, exciting and memorable experience. Something we would want to encourage our friends to play with us as we chase loot, titles and fun.
This missed the mark for me personally. I would have liked to have seen the portal in the tower do something other than be a piece of background eye-candy. Watching it evolve over the weeks somewhat built anticipation towards it actually doing something.
The fact that there is no discernible difference in loot for the big season ending boss fight is disappointing. The boss fight was disappointing as well. The undying mind proved to be weaker than the previous boss.
I have no idea of the development time-frame that was in place for this. It has been on the content Roadmap since Shadowkeep released (I believe). I’d have loved to see a tie-in with the tower portal and the strike from D1 somehow. Sure it would have been a re-skin, but the nostalgia from it would have trumped what we currently have in place, in my opinion.
I wish I had something good to say about this content drop. It seems like it could have been so much more.
Edit: I do realize that there would have been a need for Bungie to invest a large amount of man-hours and resources for there to be brand new and even re-used content from D1 (Undying Mind strike maybe). Not to mention a lengthy time-frame to build it up and create new weapons and such.
Due dates are often difficult to achieve without hitting bumps along the way. I clearly have to temper my expectations.
I haven’t complained much about what this game has offered me over the years. I’ve had a lot of fun playing Destiny.
