What's ridiculous is that it's just for getting a catalyst (and not a great one at that). Something you get randomly for most other exotics. You can get pinnacle weapons for 20-40 matches and be done with most of the other grind requirements simultaneously. That's justifiable. But hundreds of activities for this? Makes no sense.

My issue is moreso the catalysts that require pvp (or the ones that require pve for those that don’t like that) All exotics and catalysts should be acquirable from both, as well as leveled from both. It is infuriating that they force pvp on me when I am absolutely terrible at it (which makes it take MUCH longer besides) and I find absolutely no enjoyment from it. The same could be said about forcing people into pve if they are just into pvp... Like seriously... those exotic quests I have that require pvp likely will NEVER be done. Especially thorn. Punishing for deaths makes it basically impossible if you aren’t good at it.

I understand your perspective, but you're missing major underlying lore with this. Thorn was born of guardian vs guardian, it's place is very appropriately in the Crucible. On the other hand, Whisper of the Worm's lore is with the Hive and Taken, hence its quest and catalyst requirements. Same for raid loot, NF specific drops. Etc. It's all woven into the lore of the game. If PvP ain't you're thing (or PvE, either way), just take it slow, maybe find a friend to help. I'm solidly in both, PvP AND PvE. They are equally entertaining and serve their own niche. When I want to buckle in for some difficult, challenging, well coordinated PvE I hit my clan up for a raid. PvP is good for short sessions where I just want to blow off some steam and maybe don't have too much time (unless it's comp, then it's building up steam and lots of time). PvP AND PvE are PART of the game. Not doing pvp is just shorting yourself.

Pvp is painfully unfun for me. It doesn’t matter how little it is, I just don’t enjoy it. 🤷🏻♂️ not everyone likes the same things.
