This isn’t a shit post. It’s just a... sad realization post.
I finally got the hunter legs from CoS this week, but it means nothing. I’ll only get to use them for a few more weeks before they’re left behind and I delete them.
Last time it happened with EP armor and Solstice armor.
When Curse of Osiris came out I quit this game for months, but I came back with Forsaken. I’ve taken breaks and whatnot, but I’ve generally enjoyed this game ever since. But, I just have that feeling again... why keep playing this game when loot just doesn’t matter and my time gets crapped on?
I think the changes being made to armor are good for the game, but I think Bungie should have done more to make sure our vault wasn’t wiped out again. They should have made all year 2 armor available as ornaments.
Even the cabal only destroyed our vaults once, Bungie. This is your second time in 2 years.
Edit: thanks for all the bumps. It would be cool if Bungie saw this and worked on getting all armor brought forward to 2.0. If they can turn all Eververse armor into ornaments, maybe they can do the same with all armor.

2 RepliesJust shows that way back when Bungie said they wouldn't disrespect players time again in Destiny House of Wolves launch they lied. It's weird ....
-
1 ReplyEdited by Joey-One83: 7/29/2019 12:36:22 AMDoes this mean all the raids will become useless because all the armor and weapons wont be 2.0?
-
14 RepliesEdited by Lull9: 7/28/2019 8:26:23 PMIf armor all becomes basically "generic" ...WHY CAN'T BUNGLE-IE NOT PISS OFF THEIR COMMUNITY and either: A) Make all previous armor equipable as ornaments... OR B) Make all previous armor available in collections (can be retrieved) as blank armor pieces. Maybe shadowkeep endgame armor has extra perks/slots like CoS or D1 raids... but you'd STILL have to "earn" that anyway. It's infuriating how frequently they do dumb shit and how little they ever learn. Of course, it works with EVERWORSE armor though because microtransaction are the most important part of the game to Bungie.
-
2 RepliesThen stop because this will never stop happening sorry but that’s the fact. Bungie want destiny to be as close to an mmo rpg as they can get it (while its still petty far off mmo status) that means as long as new expansions keep coming you’re old gear will become irrelevant. Personally I’m fine with it I’ve played a few real mmo rpgs on pc and I enjoy striving to regain and improve my strength with the new gear sets and abilities that drop

2 RepliesAre you saying our year two armor is basically being made worthless in year 3?
-
ya quit crying. See you in September
-
2 RepliesI will never understand being upset that a looter shooter is going to have you chasing new and better loot... If all things stayed relevant there would be no reason (loot wise... I'm a weirdo that just prefers the game to be fun) to keep playing either.
-
10 RepliesThen stop playing. You're playing an MMO / Looter game in which the point is new loot. No one is forcing you to leave your gear behind, use it if you want it will be just fine. The rest of us are going to earn new cool armor and min max in the cool new system.
-
I feel ya. Being that my interests lean far more to the "shooter" aspect than the "looter" aspect i'm the sort that doesn't enjoy the constant nerfing and making of gear worthless. Chasing gear is not the enjoyable part. It's using the gear. For example i chased a hopscotch pilgrim for two weeks of strike grinding and then losing hella motes rerolling it. Me personally i enjoyed the gun AFTER i got it. I HATED HATED HATED the process of getting the gun. I just stuck to using it in crucible. I loved my fatebringer, just roaming the open world using it. But once i got one i never ran the templar again. But the constant making of gear useless just begins to feel like a futile hampster wheel. That said i also get that there are plenty of people that chasing gear is actually what they enjoy. to each his own just not my thing.

4 RepliesEdited by Cosmic Zaa: 7/29/2019 1:55:31 AMI still use older armor / weapons sometimes. Who cares about new perks and such when it barely helps except in rare occasions?
-
3 RepliesI see what you mean, but for some reason it makes me excited to play when Shadowkeeep launches. It definitely sucks losing armor I grinded for, but it doesn't brother me enough to stop playing. At the end of the day Destiny is a looter shooter and I like looting things. :)
-
I still use my year one sins of the past. Still has cluster bombs, still works well. I made it a void rocket (back when we could do that) so I have a rare void version instead of solar like normal. Use it all the time, as I do my Y1 leviathan gear for this shit bad juju grind. Works fine homie, no need to get all up in arms unless you're a sweaty who needs to meta. I raid in my old Calus gear in CoS and it worked fine.

Edited by Wolf LXXIX: 7/29/2019 2:22:02 AMI use Retro-Grade TG2 armour, nothing special about it and it has zero perks. I just thought it looked good, couldn't give a damn about armour perks or the latest gear. The latest bunch of armour looks awful anyway, i don't know who designs the armour sets but they're doing a poor job. I mean there's no reason why Hunter's can't have clean, flashy armour and a hood or scarf instead of a cloak. I mean come on, why do they always have to design them so their gear has patched up bits everywhere, they live in the city ffs.
-
Edited by TJ_Dot: 7/29/2019 2:18:16 AMThey definitely won't take them away, I can live with what I got until the pieces get upgrades. Still using Y1 armor even.
-
1 ReplyI’m less worried about my existing armour being obsolete than I am existing content not getting updated to drop new 2.0 armour. D2 finally has a good range of content out there and if the armour is not updated to the new system then that will be a bummer.
-
Shard them when the new joint drops
-
It’s sucks. I finally have all the different armor with all the perks for all my different loadouts for PvP. In Sept. POOF!!!!!!! All gone. F——-g BS
-
2 RepliesEdited by Balderdash1112: 7/29/2019 1:35:23 AMI mean not like armor is hard to get. I don’t know many ppl who grind for armor like they go after god roll weapons. I guess an exception to that would be iron banner armor and solstice cause that’s pretty hard to get. Sucks that banner armor isn’t 2.0 but at least soltice is. Wish CoS armor was 2.0, but it’s not that bad
-
Final Fantasy XIV got this right with their "Glamour" system, which basically lets you make any piece of armor look like any other piece of armor that you own. That way, instead of being forced to look stupid as you geat all the set pieces you want, you can maintain whatever look you prefer for your character
-
Bump. Agree completely.
-
3 RepliesNothing is stoping you from equipping your old stuff , big whoop your out of date armor is less powerful than the new one. That's how these things go, the game evolves to make your guardian stronger. Imagine being so entitled that you would want your armor to magically get stronger because you don't want to grind for the new stuff. If only the world worked like that, new car comes out, post on the forums crying that the new model has gps and a back up camera and yours doesn't and the car company should uodate your car because you don't want to earn the new one.
-
6 RepliesEdited by ColumboWormGod: 7/29/2019 12:13:05 AMThat’s just a bad attitude. It’s the same reasoning as, “Why do anything if I’m just going to inevitably die”. Just a bad attitude. Most MMO’s do this and it’s going to keep happening. They do it for a lot of reasons. Like moving along the sets and looking towards the future. Giving new stuff to grind that you like. If they didn’t, then most people would still be using fatebringer and the vog set from year 1 D1.
-
4 RepliesSounds like a good time to delete the game and wait til shadowkeep because the solstice armor will be trash anyway
-
I don't think you appreciate of how sexy the new CoS armor looks on a hunter, why would you forget it? Maybe you should forget about armor thats like REALLY REALLY REALLY OLD but CoS armor? Thats recent.
-
They should just have solstice gear be able to equip all previous years pieces as ornaments. It's not really that hard to do. Plus it gives incentive for us to grind the pieces.
-
Why did I spend months in Reckoning to get my enhanced perks? The whole season of the drifter was about getting Prime armor and now they decide to make it inferior to other armor just 2 seasons later?????
