What's the next grind that players like you are going to complain about? When does it end? You realize they said MMO a whole lot lately, that means grind, more chores, more play time extention. They don't need to say anything, they are taking the game back in the direction that it started, remember D1 year 1 grind, D2 is no where close to that grind level yet.

  •
What's the next grind that players like you are going to complain about?
Players like me? I'm a player just like you. We're on even footing. Both paid in the same money, both play the same game.
You realize they said MMO a whole lot lately, that means grind, more chores, more play time extention.
I noticed. Am interested to see what that means. If the grind is meaningful and worth my time, I'm in. If it's more empty padding like Cores, I'm out.
remember D1 year 1 grind, D2 is no where close to that grind level yet.
I do remember that grind, yes. And it was far more satisfying. I remember having to unlock individual perks on my gun, and I loved it. It felt like the gun was growing with me. And I'm talking before you could just buy it out with Motes of Light, I'm talking Ascendant mats. I remember the zen of the planetary mats runs (though buying those mats was, admittedly, nice). I remember grinding well over 100 strikes to get my Hopscotch Pilgrim. Doing chores because some idiot thought Infusion required four separate currencies doesn't even come close to the satisfaction of Destiny 1.

You're telling me that farming mats and doing bounties on patrol the level your gear is different than farming mats and bounties to level up gear? It's literally the same thing except now if you play the game regularly there is zero farming needed. Make no mistake we may both be playing a game but we are very different types playrrs, although more similar than I thought. I do agree cores need to go but not because they are hard to come by. I can literally masterwork anything I want because there are so many cores in the game without farming them.

It's literally the same thing except now if you play the game regularly there is zero farming needed.
Not at all. A great deal of the mat farming is exactly the same. What I'm saying is that the grind in Destiny 1 was more rewarding. Like the gun perk unlocks; there was a lot to it, and it took a while, but it also gave me an ownership of that gun that I just don't feel with them now. They feel more disposable, because I didn't go through that effort. Having to go do chores to keep the gear that I *have* earned current just pales in comparison, to me. Not gonna lie, though. Taking Icebreaker to Mars and picking off yellow bar Psions while using Resupply Codes to grind glimmer the night before the Iron Banner was strangely satisfying. I can't explain it.
I do agree cores need to go buy not because they are hard to come by. I can literally masterwork anything I want because there are so many cores in the game without farming them.
I agree that they're easy to come by. And the fact that they're so easy has basically broken Masterworking, which is what I'd been maintaining all along. Masterworking IS worth the grind to me, because you're making a conscious decision to take a certain weapon or piece of gear to the next level. That *should* take a little effort. But Bungie's refusal to remove Cores from Infusion has devalued that currency so much that Masterworking is easier than it should be. That should be the grindy part of gear, in my opinion. Not just bumping the light level up. I dunno, man. It's moot anyway. Bungie has spoken and it is what it is.

  • I miss the lemming train material farming the most. I know what you mean with the weird satisfaction you can get from pointless farming of whatever. We are in agreement of the cores, they are devalued now. I was much happier with the D1 release system but those players I was talking about weren't and we were a minority.
