-Infusion is meaningful
Really? What does it **mean**. I want you to explain to me what it means....and how this game benefits by restricting progression and frustrating player choice and power-retention. Take your time. I can wait.
-You should try out different things and have to invest to play with the same items over and over again
1. I don't need Bungie micro-managing me to do that....and cores actually PREVENT me from trying out and playing different builds because its too costly to keep them relevant or to experiement with them. 2. You get the same effect wtih the OTHER currencies used for infusion. 3. So why does Bungie insist on cores? Simple. Because cores lets Bungie LIMIT the supply and frustrate people's access to perferred builds...and therefor control play.
-Cores are easy to get
No they aren't. They don't drop from normal game play. They either require an artificial and absurdly time-consuming grind relative to how many cores are earned. Buy them at absurdly inflated prices designed to deplete the other currencies required for infusion.....or to keep them elusive by hiding them behind multiple layers of randomness. IOW, the entire system has been designed to make cores DIFFICULT to get...and therefore restrict access to infusion. I've done the math. I played 30 hours a week prior to Forsaken. At that level of play I could EASILY maintain 4 seperate builds at end-game levels on each of three characters.....plus have the resources necessary to bring forward situational builds to end game level. I played THAT much. But now...at that same level of play...IT IS MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO EARN THE 200 CORES A **WEEK** I'D NEED IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO PLAY THAT SAME WAY. The only way to do it is to resort to the Brother Vance exploit....and I refuse to do that. So please explain to me...HOW IS THIS IMPROVING MY EXPERIENCE OF THE GAME, OR CAUSING ME TO "EXPERIMENT" MORE? Since I've been forced down to only two builds....and just leveling up the game's pinnacle weapons and other god-rolled gear? Once again....take your time.
Masterworking is NOT FOR EVERYBODY
Yep...But infusion needs to be....or you break the game. Which is why manking masterwork cores part of the infusion economy was one of the dumbest game design ideas I've seen in 20 years. Because Bungie's goal was to try to manipulate me into playing even more. ...and its had the effect of making me play less. A LOT less.

  • 1) Items with random rolls can be strong If you want to use the for future content you have to pay some cores - not that big of a deal Infusion is OPTIONAL - you are not locked out by anything if your weapon is a few level below 2) I dont even try to argue when your argument is: "Bungie wants to frustrate players" .... 3) YOu get then through gameplay .... the only exections would be: Visit Spider daily for you 2-3 cores and Spider bounties which have to be farmed for I dont argue about the second part because prior forsaken there were no rolls on armor thus no builds ^^ 4) Agree - and it is Question for you: How many cores do you get per week? How many cores per week should a casual player get (1-2h a day)? How many cores should a core player get (3+h a day) ? How many cores do you personally use?

  • Your wasting your time there not going to get it, entitled kids think everything should be handed to them, they have to have everything right now or they throw a fit

  • But cores are handed to people ^^ They only have to open their hands and put them into their pockets instead of buying things they might need in the future ^^

  • You clearly don’t understand how loot games work. No one does what Bungie is doing to this game.... and they are only doing it because they are an odd mixture of arrogant and desperate. Desperate in that they can’t adequately supply the game with content. Arrogant enough to think that the rules of how these game work just don’t apply to them.

  • you clearly don't understand how to get cores and use them properly "Oh no my item is +2 higher I have to infuse" "Oh no I can't masterwork my 255th weapon"

Okay. Tell me how you get 200 cores a week. I’ve got all day. Three characters. Eight gear slots. Four builds. Two cores per infusion. 3 x 8=24 24 x 4= 96 96 x 2= 198. I’m waiting, genius. In The Division 2 I’m currently running 5 builds, and don’t have to do anything other than simply PLAY THE GAME.

  • Not crazy at all. That’s how these games are played at end-game. Bungie is just an arrogant shooter game developer who doesn’t know what they’re doing and doesn’t think they should have to learn. Because they think they can do whatever they want and we’ll just accept it. Nope. Not on this. I’ll walk before I let Bungie dictate to me how my leisure time is spent.

  • Infusion isn’t optional. It’s basically the entire endgame. And I’m sorry how to you get cores by playing the game. Spider isn’t an exception he’s pretty much the only “reliable” option. Customization is the endgame. It’s easy to level up but forcing players to grind out to make any progress isn’t fun. We shouldn’t go out of our way this much to fill in something so essential to the game.

  • And infusion with cores is completely optional You can get exotics at -20 out of the collection Infusion with exotics is basically free Infusion with same items is basically free And you can do every content with random 700 drops Especially on Armor it doesnt matter at all

That kid your arguing with is a -blam!-ing idiot. Keep posting proper points. Watch all the idiots line up to try and dissect your posts word for word since they can’t beat your points.

  • Another kid who thinks that being willing to put up with this game's broken progression system and enhancement core economy makes them a "hardcore gamer". Not suprising they feel that way, because Bungie has been actively feeding that bad idea. But its clear that he wants to be "hardcore"....and doesn't understand how they work or what's wrong with this system

  • Hardcore my ass. I drop close to 30 hours a week on this game. My cores are stupidly low and I barely infuse anything. He might get 25 cores in a week but that’s his RNG, not mine. Not sure how the -blam!- he thinks his luck is anywhere close to the same as mine. This game is a chore to grind and that’s how they want it to be, there’s no give from Bungie. It’s a bad system and they keep trying to force us to play it how they think it should be.

Agreed. Before I woke up to what Bungie is doing here, I was playing a pretty solid 25 hours a week. The issue is only "how much" you play....if you're playing at the low end of engagement. But you can still drop a ton of time on this game and still struggle with this system if you are either a new or returning player....and therefore didn't have a stockpile of cores from Y1....or if you're an experienced RPG gamer and want to run multiple builds. Prior to Forsaken I used to run four builds on each of my 3 characters, and maintained them with ease. Before I cut back to one character it was taking every hour of play and every core I could get my hands on to maintain TWO builds....none of them Masterworked....and limited to the game's pinnacle weapons. Its mathematically impossible to extract the 200 cores a week I'd need to run the four builds I was used to. Whereas I'm playing The Division 2...and I'm running 5 builds across the three Specializations...and I'm **only** running 5 because that's how many pre-sets the UI limits me too. If I wanted to store more gear in my stash I could easily run two or three more and not break a sweat. That's how broken Destiny 2 is right now...and how misguided what Bungie is doing right now is. You are going to struggle with this system---bottomline---if you try to play this game in ANY other fashion than the way Bungie wants to shove down our throats. Which is really rigid...and really shallow and unsatisfying.

  • I’m in the same boat. Prior to Forsaken I ran all three and had them mixed or near max. Since then it’s mostly been a chore to level up my main and the other two are like side chicks, I get to them occasionally and only my main has masterwork weapons to use. There’s nothing meaningful about what I use or level up. It’s pure necessity to bump my level up to hit max. I bought The Division 2 this past weekend and am shifting focus to that game and less to Disappointment 2. I’m prolly nowhere near your in game level but I’ll roll with you if you’re down.

NP. Its a great game, but Massive still need to work out some minor tuning issues. They've acknowledged most of the problems. But the biggest one is that they were so concerned with avoiding many of the problems with skills that that Div 1 had....that they went too far in the other direction. The sklls you do have are struggling to have an impact on the game....you often get the feeling that you aren't this elite agent...but are fighting people who are actually better equipped than you are.... ...and there is something of an illusion of choice where builds are concerned. Armor and health don't really have much of an impact on the game, cause the NPCs hit so damn hard that they will quickly burst you down if you get caught out of cover or they flank you. (No more "chicken dance" though.....) So everyone is running builds where they either stack fire arms damage.....explosive damage....or skills damage. Its a minor annoyance at this poitn. But Massive is going to have to deal with it if they want to the maximum longevity for this game. But I'm telling you The Division---these minor problems and all---are in such a vastly better place as a loot-based game than Destiny 2 is right now...its tragic.

  • It’s a fun game and I do enjoy the strategic aspects of it. From the get go on the first one I knew I was gonna enjoy it. At this stage, the issues you’ve listed seem easily correctable and that the devs are willing to work on unlike some others we know *cough cough, middle finger to B_ngo cough cough* and I’m cool waiting for the tweaks to be implemented. It shows care for their product and concern for its state. I’m more than done waiting on Bungie to address the current state and issues plaguing this game while the focus on whatev the -blam!- they are focusing on. Sure as -blam!- isn’t this game or working with the community to ensure this game is great.
