The Temptation quest requires fighting guardians in crucible. Here is the catch though, you lose progress when you lose. I hate pvp because it is utter trash. I die more than get wins because majority of the time you are blown away with freaking shotguns! How is anyone suppose to complete this quest step when pvp broken? Bungie this is an all time low towards getting more players in pvp!

I completed this during Iron banner, while getting void hand cannon kills.

I'm a crappy PvP player myself, I really just stick to PvE, but I was able to complete this step with a lot of determination. You really do need to stay back and be vigilant. That really helped for me.

1 ReplyHurry up a do it during this week of mayhem. It's easy. Stand or crouch somewhere safe, when super is ready, run to some place opponents are bunched up, use super. Then rinse and repeat. Basically, just play super passive. Then when you get to the earn medals step, play however you want in mayhem. Bungie was smart to offer Mayhem during the first week TLW was available. If you can't get at least 1 or 2 kills per life, using a super, while supers are being handed out like candy, then you will just have to live without TLW. Besides, it's mostly a pvp gun anyways, so not the end of the world if people who don't like pvp, to simply skip it.

1 ReplyI said this on another post but I will say it again. I’m probably gonna say this wrong but I hope I’m understood. The purpose for these difficult or odd quest steps is to shape the way you play and understand the weapon. For Luna’s/NF an absurd amount of headshots are needed to get the gun. For mountaintop, again a crazy amount of grenade launcher kills. Same with chaperone/ace/last word/malfeasance. If the steps are something a player can’t grasp and adapt with then the gun isn’t gonna fit their play style. It sucks for casuals and collectors and I empathize, truly. I’m just saying I’ve accepted this and do my best to get them all. Either pay for it, play for it, or move on man.

2 RepliesIt’s the easiest step. Standing around doing nothing for an hour waiting for public events is the only hard part.
-
43 RepliesI won't be getting it as I didn't get Ace of Spades. I don't play pvp and that's fine with me. Nothing will get me to play pvp.
-
It is crap! Agree. And I do play a lot of Cruce - I had 10 Valor resets this season so far - I have been struggling with this step - I thought I made progress when I hit 13% then I had one bad game and I*m at 1% - this game is supposed to be fun but today I wanted to grind my controller into dust.

I am mediocre on my best day and I got it done. Get a team of friends together and try to make the best of it.

2 RepliesI hate this quest. Bungie, why do you insist on forcing your playerbase to play a mode that they hate? I'm not saying this because I'm bad at PVP, I'm actually fairly decent and much better than average, I'm saying it because making players go into PVP (and have deaths count against you!) when they already despise being there just to get a weapon they adore is miserable. Dont make deaths count, let it being doable without hating life please.

It’s ok your only newb , suck it up and game on. Oh my Kinderguadian . If you don’t like PvP then why go for the gun.
-
Took me 15 minutes

Which is why I don’t play it. Bungie can kiss my gluteus maximus.

1 ReplyAs a PvPer, for me it's not even a matter of how difficult the Crucible step is, as I'm sure I can get through it: the issue is that I have to play Crucible at all, considering the number of cheaters and DDoSers running rampant in all modes where you can deliberately kill a Guardian (that includes Gambit, even if it technically isn't a Crucible mode). I expected a certain number of cheaters and DDoSers in Competitive, which is one reason I played exactly _1_ game of Trials in D1, after I got lagswitched by an invulnerable opponent who danced around while my team shot them, and then shotgunned us all to death, but I never dreamed that there would come a day when people would start DDoSing over QuickPlay, Iron Banner, and even Gambit. I can't even begin to imagine how frustrating it is for primarily PvE players to get pubstomped by 4- and 6-stacks in Comp and QP respectively while trying to finish any weapon quest involving Crucible, or indeed Gambit, only to have all their progress taken away because they got DDoSed, and then get a Crucible time-out to boot for 'disconnecting'.

Edited by Lord_Shar: 2/1/2019 9:46:56 PMWait a sec -- you only lose progress for dying in Step-2. Step-4 has no progress loss for personal deaths by suicide or otherwise. It's all about earning crucible medals and killing hive in lost sectors. There's there's the Witches on Titan x3.

1 Replyeveryone here complaining how this quest is tedious smh i had fun doing it just git gud

3 RepliesI feel the same way. To my knowledge theres only been one exotic related "quest" so far since D2's launch that doesnt require ANY PVP (Crucible OR Gambit). I'm not counting the raid ones because I've been on the final step for the shotgun since before CoO. I'm not a raider and still wish to this day for the raid to be more accessible but that's neither here nor there. I'm sitting at only 11% after 5 matches. 4 Mayhem where I died more often to Blade Barraging hunters than anything else. I'm a fire-forged solar titan, I don't even have the other subclasses unlocked for Forsaken as outside of the first free one basically the rest are all behind stupid walls. 11% after 4 Mayhem and 1 normal match. That's ridiculous. I tried staying back with a scout rifle, playing it safe, following and huddling with teammates. That only gave the enemy team 2+ kills for the price of one. I'm not a good pvp player. Never have been. I just got ace of spades done a little over a week ago because of how it long it took me to get through pvp steps. It's infuriating and for all the people who say "git gud", "it's a pvp weapon", etc. It's not, I used TLW in D1 for PVE/Nightfall ALL the time, never did the raids in D1 either and hated PvP back then too. TLW has no specific perks on that are related directly to PvP like say Vigilance Wing does. It's a good hand cannon for PVE as well. It shouldn't be tied behind arbitrary freaking PvP parts of the quest, hell the Drifter is the one who gives us the quest, let me do stuff in Gambit instead of Crucible instead.

Ever consider you could just sit in the back behind teammates and take their kills, or just get assists. PvP isn’t that bad when you just play with what’s strong and stay by teammates. I’m not saying you need to get in and get it, but there is no point in cutting out a 1/4 of the game because PvP. You’re missing out and could have a lot of fun if you just try for a little while.

5 RepliesThis quest is utter shite! I pay for the game, I love hand cannons and don't mind crucible.... to an extent ! Even without the death penalty it's a grind for me to do this. Bye bye Destiny. Not listened to a f**king work. One quick fix actually match players so it's at least doable. How can I get a single % when sent in against a clan all with lunas?

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 1/31/2019 6:38:43 PM
I die more than get wins because majority of the time you are blown away with freaking shotguns!
Use your radar. If you have Mida Multi tool or Knuckle head radar, you can basically have radar at all time. Try to keep enemies at the edge of the radar. If you see the whole pie slice light up, back up and hold the distance. Le Monarch and Oathkeepers are great for high damage from range and the poison makes for easy double kills. A video to improve KD if you want. https://youtu.be/74e3mByi0d0

2 RepliesEdited by Kind of Mind: 1/31/2019 1:22:23 AMThis stupid peanut butter and jelly sandwhich requires me to put jelly and then peanut butter on it! And whats worse is the catch where i have to put the stuff back in the cabinet and wash the kitchen utensil! How could i be required to do such a thing. The food should magically prepare itself and my mommy and daddy should clean the house and wash dishes not me!

5 RepliesYou don't even have to get any kills Assists count too
-
If you can’t get it you don’t need it
-
It's not exactly a hard quest line - if you PVP a lot you will probably get it quicker than those that don't. I don't and to be honest I'm having fun doing this, as it takes me out of my regular play style. Plus mayhem is always fun IMO. Also this gun will be used more in PVP i think, so why not have this tied to some of the quest steps.

I played 5 games this morning and died to 1 Dust Rock....this is the perfect time to do this step as people are testing the weapons looking for the new meta.
