If SBMM would be implemented, two things will happen:
1) -those with high scores/high skill will ONLY face others on relatively high score/skill (this will make harder for them to farm for Legend rank, or even reach teh ranks for weapons, not impossible, but harder)
2) -Low skill and low rating players will have a easier time to climb the Glory ladder, facing similar skilled level teams/players
The tryhards don't want this to happen. The tryhard "skilled" players got their Luna by FARMING LOW SKILLED, SOLO players. SBMM will not allow this anymore, they will always face equal opponents, and they will have a way harder time to push for ranks and achievements.
Thus, they don't want SBMM to come back, because they are scared of facing oponents of equal skill, they want easy fast wins against folks such as myself, to get their Luna and brag about how good they are.
The rest of the player base, the majority, is stuck feeding their egos, and they are literally a glory farm for these dudes.
Streamers and youtubers will have a harder time posting awesome clips about their 180's and other shenanigans, will have a harder time to climb.
These players HATE, and are scared to death about sbmm and solo queue being truly solo. They want / need a system such as we have now, where they can fireteam with other skilled friends and go and steam roll new players and players who aren't too good at crucible, to get their weapons then BRAG ABOUT THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS (all done against lower skilled players, btw).
I have watched a streamer for example whom, when he start facing high skilled opponents, simply quit and went to do pve because "ehmmm...i need to finish my weekly milestones", in fact he was raging that he was losing and stop doing pvp for the day. This wouldn't have happened if he would have faced noobs like me and constantly winning, in fact he would have gladly pvp for the rest of his stream, showing his "skillz"
Here you have it folks, this is the reason.
I would gladly take a queue time increase if sbmm would be applied, and not the system we have now in place, it is corrupted, broken, does Bungie don't see this, don't they care?
TLDR: the wannabe mythic glory ranked ones don't want sbmm. Because then they will start to lose against same level opponents

I’ve seen first hand how many people in this community are far better than those streamers.
-
SBMM sucks. Connections are terrible and matches are rigged.
-
This issue is overstated and exaggerated once again. I am shocked! Another forum warrior who brings their five percent experience and represents it as a systemic problem. If you are getting trashed in ALL your matches you are simply garbage at crucible. You can blame streamers and the MM but no matter what Bungie "fixes" you are still going to be garbage. I am average and OP's rant is NOT representative of a typical day in the crucible.

15 RepliesEdited by Orbital Drop Shock Trooper: 12/30/2018 9:59:32 AMPeople (meaning most of you in this forum) are unable to identify the real problem with SBMM. That being connection issues. At a certain point because you’re in a tier that is so exclusive, Bob from Mexico and Ted from Japan are in the same lobby as you and there’s no amount of “skill” that will enable that melee to connect on contact with Jim in London. Yeah you’re all similar skill but the longer search times, the increased latency, the laggier gameplay. All the conditions that are needed for ‘skilled gameplay’ to be assessed, isn’t working. And thats all because billy doesn’t want higher tier players having even the slimmest chance to even be in the same lobby as him every 3-4 games. Whats more fair? To get better at a game and then having the game punish you by not even having basic functions working. Or staying average to below average so you can shelter yourself from players who can progress beyond that and have them deal with the system above?

1 ReplyI kinda wondered, Some of the streamers ive seen dont come off as ... actually skilled when i attempted to watch them.. Just seemed like they were getting away with murder.

29 RepliesStop. Just... Stop. Not everything is about streamers and YouTubers. The simple answer to this is that Destiny 2 CANNOT handle implementing SBMM. Are you people stupid or what? The game has no dedicated servers. It chooses the player as a host. It will prioritize skill over connection which means that there will be tons of lag. The lag you see now will be nothing compared to the lag you will see with SBMM. A lot of players say that YouTubers and streamers don’t want to face players who are as skilled as they are, or even more skilled. The same goes for all of you asking for SBMM. Ya don’t want to face better players. Ya want to face that 12 year old with no thumbs who stands still shooting his scout rifle 10 feet from his opponent. When SBMM was implemented in D1, even subpar players hated it because of the lag and how long it would take to find a match.... now the subpar players can’t handle getting their asses whooped and “wah wah wah I want SBMM.” And I hate to say this but... those who ask for SBMM because they don’t want to face players who have more skill... well... those players usually suck and will always suck regardless of SBMM. Now, if D3 has dedicated servers, be my guest and petition for SBMM.

SBMM and RBMM are 2 of the same thing. Apart 1 is self performance based and the other is team performance based. Your basically asking for 2 forms of SBMM to be put into Comp. Considering how laggy it is already I’ve got to oppose this. I’m not against SBMM as such, I’m just against SBMM and RBMM being in the same play list.

4 RepliesLove reading these butt hurt people crying that others have guns they cannot get

2 RepliesStraight up, sbmm was not wanted by the skilled because they couldn't "relax" when pvp'ing. That is the bottom line. It wasn't because of ques and wait times. Que and wait times went up as bungie shot themselves in the head -blam!-ing up the game, and players left. Same thing is happening now, anyone see a pattern here... No one is really wanting to play pvp, and black armory is in general a failure. So please see the big picture here, the population that bungie is blowing (in pvp) don't want sbmm, bad for steaming and egos, it wouldn't be nearly as satisfying jerking off to their Luna and NF 'accomplishments'.

I can name 2 streamers who are complete shit and they only get carried by their better team mates. Fimi sheikh and purechill.

2 RepliesWe NEED skill based matchmaking, I'm sick of getting crap team mates

Edited by Nazo: 12/30/2018 10:02:56 AMI would just like to point out the main premise of this that all the ignoramuses here are ignoring: SBMM would lead to fairer gameplay. I can't even understand how anyone can justify not having this kind of system, it would be like saying we should go back to the days where there was virtually no equality in the U.S.. I'd rather have a game with someone of equal skill than someone who seems pretty close to hacking. (No PC scrubs can deny this, by the way.) Anyway, the other thing I wanted to say is that Bungie cares more about their streamers simply because they think they can get more players to throw money at them from the viewers these streamers gain. It's honestly disgusting that Bungie cares more about pleasing a minority than a majority, and it only shows they care more about money than actually making the game enjoyable for everyone. This isn't the same Bungie that made Halo or Destiny 1 (to an extent). Nearly half of their staff have been fired, replaced, or quit; and in their places are just a bunch of greedy college grads who have most likely been in the gaming industry less than 5 years, think like Activi$ion, and only want to make their money's worth off their education. They don't have the passion that the former Bungie employees had, which was the main reason their games were successful. The Halo games had awesome matchmaking systems and kick-ass music. Even the music the new composers created for Destiny 2 sounds bland and mediocre compared to Destiny 1's soundtracks. I have to be honest, some of the tracks sound like they were half-assed. (Do not confuse the tracks that were NOT created by Bungie's composers, such as Journey.) TL;DR: There is no argument to validate anti-SBMM, Bungie relies on streamers to get more people to buy their garbage, and the Bungie that made Halo is dead and what we have in its place are people who don't know how to carry the legacy.

It isn't some big conspiracy, its just relaxed Match Making due to dwindling player numbers spread accross 3 platforms.

That’s not gonna change anything since streamers do recoveries.
-
Put the streamer/youtuber on blast.. -blam!- that. These mother-blam!-ers give this game free advertisements to Bungie. Makes me say this but this game is for them because think about it... IT'S THEIR JOB TO PLAY THIS GAME.

4 RepliesInconvenient truth. Try taking away the welfare style matchmaking though. They’ll fight you with rationalizations all the way. At least offer a pvp experience for a broad spectrum of players rather than feed everyone else to the hardcore.
-
Introduce tiers no matter what glory rank you are. Don’t plenty of other games already have much better tiered systems for this? Oh yeah, they probably have MUCH healthier populations too, which is why it works for them.

2 RepliesEdited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 12/30/2018 6:49:22 AMYou are talking about glory? It has SBMM. Anywho we had SBMM in D1 for quickplay..... after it was heavily implemented the forums caught on fire with even the potatoes complaining that it was now entirely to hard and way to sweaty... it was removed after a few short lived months. Moral of the story... sometimes you gotta just look in the mirror accept that you are bad.. then "git gud" Btw it is smart to quit after a loss or 2. At the higher levels 1 loss takes 3 wins to get back. If you lose 2 that's 6 games and if you are losing 1 winning 1 or winning 2 losing 1 you are still losing points out the arse.. sometimes it's smart to take a break 😉

Agree with you aswell then everyone has a chance to achieve a weapon and get better over time

1 ReplyDude, they will just use NetDuma to be matched with scrubs all day long. Even in comp. Google it
