Can we do away with the matching Supers for weekly Vanguard?

It’s senseless. It really is.... *Edit - Many of us know to do it, but I even forget on rare occasion, however, I felt bad when my clanmate (who returned from pre-leviathan) asked me why he wasn’t getting credit for the strikes he completed. I explained it to him, but.. yeah... Needless to say he lost about 3 strikes because of it. Edit 2 - Wow. A lot of comments. I think some people are mistaken when they think this is whining. It really isn’t. It’s about a useless feature. Either bump the light level requirement extremely high and make the singe important, or get rid of it altogether. Let us play how we want to play and not have to inspect others at the end of a strike just to get credit for.... already beating it... Edit 3 - To those that say “just change your class at the end of the strike”. That is what I currently do. Sometimes, others do that as well, and you lose credit. More importantly, you just made my point about it being a useless/pointless requirement because it was INTENDED for you to use the class for the whole strike. Someone piggybacked this post onto Reddit and it already has 6000 upvotes. Which is the top trending on Reddit as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/a8kp9m/remove_the_requirement_to_run_same_subclass/?st=JQ09NOCC&sh=f9985e32

  • I don't think we should do away with it. We should fix it. Incentivize it so people use it and have fun with it. For example, for every Guardian that runs a class matching the singe element, the burn damage coming from Guardians gets increased. 1 Guardian running a matching class - Elemental damage output is further increased by 25% 2 Guardians running a matching class - Elemental damage output is further increased by 50% 3 Guardians running a matching class - Elemental damage output is further increased by 100% Don't get too fixated on my suggested bonus buffs here, I just used them to make the example. In reality it would probably be less. But the point I am trying to make hopefully got across.

    • it honestly isn't a big deal to literally just say "im using this subclass element so switch to the same element" before starting its an easy powerful gear completion and if you're running the strikes with randoms switch to their subclass. yeah, i get it you're lazy but who cares.

      • Currently more player DON'T match the singe than do. It is Bungie's fault for combining this requirement with Vanguard Bounties for other elements When it is Void week Zavala should not be carrying bounties for Arc and Solar kills, but he is doing exactly that It looks like a deliberate ploy to extend play time by ensuring getting 3 strikes matching the same element as the singe actually takes 5-10 strikes

      • Bungle control freaks again. Those jackasses force us to use classes we dislike and won’t fix it because they’re egotistical scum who need to be fired. I pay your bills for , you little @#$%+! I can easily just play a different game!

        • Wow, a lot of hate in the comments. I saw this and thought it was reasonable. It’s a pointless restriction that doesn’t matter and forces players into a loadout they might not like. I’m guessing most of the hate is coming from people who don’t solo queue often. I wish they understood that in the land of solo queue teammates don’t pay attention to modifiers, or they switch subclasses to grief, or just can’t be bothered to ever switch off of Blade Barrage. These same people would likely rage if they were forced to use a subclass in pvp that wasn’t Nova Warp or Blade Barrage, in order to complete the weekly challenge.

Yes Please. One of the most stupid milestones in the game. I find it funny that anyone would defend such a tedious mechanic.

              • I think they need to make the burns more unforgiving. Either swap to the burn or do little to no damage. They had the same thing in D1 and no one complained. They tell you what the burn is in D2. All you have to do is match the stud-class with the burn. Why is this so damn hard?

                • It's funny how Bungie went overboard to look for ways to keep gamers playing this game versus, making content to where gamers want to play. When you look at D1 versus D2. D1 had less content as far as planets, events but everything else was more then what D2 has offered so far.

                • It is really annoying having to check people's character because God knows nobody I ever get set with knows how to match class and current burn. Then again it's really trivial and takes only 30 seconds so I'm not too worried about it.

                  • This is one of those slightly annoying, yet ultimately inconsequential, quirks in the game. All it costs you is a few strikes. Sure, they could change it to only mean "Use the same element as another's super, regardless of super subclass", but it's really not that big a deal. Really, the issue is more on the players who are bad at reading instructions, rather than the challenge itself. Now, the nightfall timer of old (aka, the original 'challenge' system), THAT was a useless feature. Nobody likes timers, except masochists and sadists.

                  • I have never changed my subclass. Burns don't do much damage, why bother? I just run enough strikes per week that there is bound to have another Arc class with me.

                  • If they must keep it in there then make sure the bounty for elemental kills is tied to it.

It would be fine if people would just stop trying to be rebels and use the damn singe. Seriously, I'm actually convinced at this point that people are only not using the singe element because they want to be rebellious in hopes that Bungie will make the singe stronger. I see so many people using weak subclasses that aren't even the singe instead of strong subclasses that are the singe. Then when the singe changes, they intentionally switch to a mismatching subclass. But yes, it should definitely be removed.

                      • 110% agree. If this is a thing then lock it down, and/or have a way to clearly show who is running what. Strikes are generally fairly quick, about 10 - 15 mins at most, you should not have to police who is using a certain super, or scramble at the very end to change yours trying to match up with someone else who is also changing theirs or bounces out the second the chest opens. Maybe this is just me, but 9 x's out of 10 if there is a burn I am switching weapons and supers to that burn. I do get maybe not changing a weapon due to power level, etc. but I really do not understand not matching your super to the burn. My Scrooge rant for the holidays, ok I'm done.

I agree actually...with so many people complaining about bungie making us play the way they want us to, it's just another addition to the pile. I'm not sure why they did it, maybe to try and make everyone use subclass elements that they normally dont (by making people use whatever singe is available that week)? Not really sure why it's a thing honestly

just switch your burn at the end of the strike to that of one of your teammates.....you'll get credit. Its irriitating to have to do that sometimes if nobody has your "burn", but at least it works. DOH...just seen your edit 3...lol
