To all avid comp players, a moment of your time pls.
wattup guardians, lets keep this civil if we can.
i want to know how many of you are genuinely going to play comp to get "The Mountaintop"
not as a trophy to put in the vault to say you have it or to simply test it out. you earned it you have the right.
Im asking how many of you actually are planning on having The Mountaintop indefinitely in your kinetic slot once you get it. personally, i will.
why? before graviton ran rampant in season 3 but right after Vigilance was the go to i started maining fighting lion, i played with it and found out its a great scout to let me know how many enemies are around a corner, it broke up teamshooters, if a teammate was in a 1v1 i could shoot one over and help him, and currently has apes turning tale unless they're suicidal. a buddy noticed i used it alot and told me about Destiny Fun Police and Cammie Cakes (i didnt know of them because i didnt play D1, cant remember why?). i was further inspired and decided to main it. and so i did. i ran a hunter with dire promise, fighting lion, orwings maul + foe tracer. this season brought a nerf to single tubed grenade launchers blast radius(concus grenades), a fighting lion masterwork and militias birthright. coming from a grenade launcher main, they all felt underwhelming. but luckily with my lion+duke mk+foe tracer it was still working fine. i ran that loadout all the way till i got lunas only having to switch to a pulse when i got to countdown on Vostok, it happened twice.then i switched to shotty+luna.
i currently have 2,598 fighting lion pvp kills with 102 calculated trajectory medals earned.
im not going to mention orwings maul or colony kills because colony is heavy and orwings usto be aswell and was too easy to get final blows with those imo.
why do i not want the opinions of non avid comp players?
well, when we loaded into the tower and saw the halloween decor amanda gave everyone the fighting lion and its masterwork. the following weeks fighting lion was everywhere even in crucible and the performance i witnessed was horrid. before this i had only seen 3 individuals in game popping off with a lion+HC or a Lion+SMG. 2 of those have lunas and the other has not forgotten.
now, to reiterate;
1) i want to know how many of you will grind the quest to actually have The Mountaintop as your go to.
2) im not bragging just letting y'all wonder why id chase it.
i want to be clear because this forum is riddled with salt lol.

Honestly it sounds like a really fun gun to use in pve so that's primarily why I'll be getting it. Also for bragging rights.

Pulses are my thing though so like you are with FL and mountaintop, I was very happy with both bygones and the GL, not because they were good but because that is the weapon archetype that I enjoy using the most (scout rifles suck and will probably continue to). Most people you will see using it will probably just be using it because its an effective weapon though, like the situation with Telesto. They did a good job with putting Luna at 2100 (matchmaking notwithstanding) and it got me to play more comp than I would have otherwise and so in season 5 I will be playing more to get better than I will be for the mountaintop. Pulses, scout rifles and sniper rifles are my favorite weapons to use. I really like Luna but have to be honest that I suck with any handcannon that doesn't have a ton of stability. I'm glad to see someone who actually likes grenade launchers is getting something they will like though.

Since I'm going for the grenade launcher. Guess I'll get my lunas while Im at it 🤣 I love grenade launchers. I used them till they got nerfed. Hopefully this mountaintop puts the fun back in them

But i will for mountain top to use in pve 😆 im not a pvp fan but i love the style of the gun and feel its worth working towards. Redrix and lunas were designed to do well in pvp. The perks are good no doubt but in the end they’re still just a HC and pulse. Mountaintop looks like it’ll feel and play very unique so its piqued my interest Edit: woops, to answer your other question, if i DO manage to earn it (fingers crossed!) ill definitely be toting it whenever i do dip back into pvp, it looks like itll be a hell of a lot of fun with sticky on

I'll still be playing competitive but probably not actively grinding for this. I don't normally use grenade launchers much.

If it oneshot on a direct hit then I'll certainly grind for it, I've already gotten luna so why not do this

3 RepliesDepends if I like the way it plays. Not a huge fan of handcannons, so the Not Forgotten is a trophy gun for me tbh. I'll play matches with it, and if I like it I can definitely see myself playing with it quite a bit.

1 ReplyI mained Orewings during Year 1 so I like single shot launchers. I'm intrigued by how Mountaintop would synergize with Luna's. Even if it doesn't OHK on impact, it damn sure will leave someone absolute, so you could 2-tap another poor soul. We'll see.

3 RepliesA lot of people are going to be disappointed when it doesn't kill on a direct hit 60% of the time. That is unless they buff tubes to be more consistent like they were before Forsaken.

4 RepliesI never use single shot grenade launchers so I’m not inclined to get it. Since it’s a kinetic rocket launcher it and Luna’s plus Thunderlord will become the meta, at which point there will be an exodus from PvP if Bungie does nothing to fix matchmaking.

Of course I'll have it in that slot forever. Reason 1: Lion gang baby Reason 2: pharah is bae and this lets me be pharah in destiny Reason 3: I can use it to map people Reason 4: I can use it up close Reason 5: it will go great with lunas
