The point of Gambit is WINNING. If I wanted enjoyment I would go on patrol and wait for a public event. The "fair" play catch up balance mechanism is terrible. If a team is ahead by a landslide...so be it. There have been plenty of posts about this issue. Also, somehow got Golden Gunned through multiple walls during the match literally hiding in the cave on Legions Folly.

Edited by Fujimoose: 11/8/2018 12:56:04 AMI think the portal has issues when enemies have their primeval up. It seems like we can get invaded constantly, one right after another. But when we got to get in there to try and stop them it doesn't open. I swear one time it only opened up once. And if the portal FINALLY opens up the enemy has their primeval down to a sliver of health. That's not enough time to stop them. The one time the portal did open is when the enemy primeval spawned in. And that's not a good time to invade because it's at full health.

Exactly!!! Why punish us for the other team sucking at the game? That simple!!
-
They made more adjustments than that. They need to revert it back to the way it was when it was first introduced.

1 ReplyThey are trying too hard to be a game they are not. Competitive, this game is terrible on it's competitve side. Everything wrong with this game points towards any activity with the word "competitive" on it is bad. Because they do not know how to make a balanced competitive enviorment. They do not want to be know as a hobby game like they say. They just want a sweaty player base.

1 ReplyHere's a very wacky idea, one that I think would make it fun, yet infuriating at the same time. Now it's just a funny suggestion, so please don't take this seriously guys and gals. First get rid of the invasion portal all together. Every round random spawn at any given time an invader, maybe 2 per team per round. (Think back to kings fall raid when you got random spawned to that blight between damage phases on oryx). You could be spawned anytime, even if you had 15 motes or in a battle, and can't really prepare for it. Just a wacky idea that to me would put chaos into game mode that's full of holes and I think would solve a lot of issues.

100% agree played some matches today with 3 friends. We experienced every issue imaginable. The opposing team waiting to summon prime. The opposing team invading 5 seconds after last invader out for entire prime fight. Opposing team having 25 motes banked but we have two ogres and other random blockers at the bank. Opposing team invading more then just 25 and 50 motes some had 3-4 invasions before the prime was out. Second round catch up mechanics we got one hit death from thrall, shot across map by ads, terrible stomping and slam into wall kills by minibosses and primes. It has just gotten so entirely out of control that there is 0 enjoyment in it and not worth trying to do the 3 resets.

1 ReplyThere should be a cool down on the invaders where the same person won't constantly invade over and over plus take out the ability to see where the enemy is at.
-
1 ReplyWhile we're at it, take out the Invader's ability to see players through walls. Just have them see a red aura around the players when they're in their line of sight, just like when you can see the Invader.

5 RepliesThey need to strip all of the artificial “balance” mechanics and just make it purely a race to get to a primeval. No catch up, no damage decrease/increase, just do the thing and see who is actually better.
-
2 RepliesA buff to the primeval would also be nice. Right now its literally just: Apply debuff, set down well of radiance, use ikelos shotgun/super barrage to instamelt the primeval. Give it some mechanics, like the meatball, and make it so you actually need the slaying buff. Right now there is literally no reason to kill the wizards

1 ReplyEdited by Talia Sendua: 11/3/2018 1:04:02 PMI agree, but please then make 4 stacks only get matched against 4 stacks. Or make gambit teams only.

1 ReplyEdited by ShadowWing48: 11/2/2018 4:55:55 PMIm fine with the catch up mechanic itself but it's way too much right now. I personally think the best catch up mechanic would be to give the losing team an extra portal that spawns randomly and one extra high value target. Nothing else. I think this would be the best approach so that it's something useful but can be easily dealt with and still requires some skill to make the comeback. Other good fixes to Gambit would be: A. Make primaries do more damage across the board (hitting a yellow health bar for 52 damage with a low RPM Hand Cannon is lame as hell) B. Weaken all enemies but spawn more (the damage dealt to damage received ratio is absurd and desperately needs fixing) C. Increase score to win to 120 D. Make Gambit one round If Gambit were made one round the comeback mechanic could trigger once the losing team is behind by 20 motes (motes currently held included to help prevent people from stacking motes to get an unfair advantage)

1 ReplyThe inconsistent enemy damage os my main gripe. The numbers needed to take down a yellow bar knight seems to fluctuate wildly & there's times I'm getting shredded by ogres n shriekers the very second I get into their line of site. And it seems to have no pattern. Similar to the aggression of enemy's. Taken chasing you off map & knights one hitting you at the bank are jus a few "oddities" I've experienced recently.. there seems to be some boundary breaking at times.

Getting shot behind cover is rarely wallhacking, but it can be a factor. Most of the time it's these bs servers that their networking guy claims is better for the community. Let me explain why their networking guy is full of shit and lying to your face. First off, P2P/client based servers usually have severe lag issues even if you, yourself, aren't lagging. Secondly, P2P is notorious for synchronization issues. P2P and client based = hot shit when you're playing a massive mp game. This is why you use dedicated servers, and for cheap, you can rent them from Amazon. It's not expensive to do that all, and probably cheaper than the hot mess they're using right now. I mean that's what companies like id does for their F2P games. I mean I'm pretty sure they can find the money to have their own dedicated servers, and maintain them, after having charged you 180 bucks for this game after their sales numbers. Cheaper games have them. I still don't understand this "super expensive!" claim the defenders keep making. There's no logic to said claim.

6 RepliesTake out gambit in general. It needs to go back to drawing board. The state of gambit is straight awful.
-
6 RepliesThe only real solution to all of these problems is reducing it to one round.
-
No, Gambit is just fine the way it is. Leave it alone.

3 RepliesDestiny isn't about winning. Destiny is about making everyone feel special. They can't make you feel special if you lose. So, losers are given every opportunity to feel special.
-
40 RepliesNo. Leave it in. The point of Gambit is having fun.
-
2 RepliesWhat catch up mechanic? I feel like when I'm losing, I lose terribly lol.
-
9 RepliesI have played, what to me is a ton of Gambit. I realize others have played more. I think the issue with these mechanics isn't that they exist, but that they dont always work properly. Portals dont open on time, or they always open, or the first team to spawn their primmy gets constant portals when the second gets like 2... Bungie have admitted to this being an issue. I hope they fix it because I actually really like Gambit aside from this and ohk ranged scrub daddy weapons like LFRs..
-
4 RepliesCatch up mechanics arent preventing the better team from winning. If you lose you obviously wernt the better team.
-
It needs to be toned down at least. Taking the lead has to provide an advantage, that's kind of the point of having leads. Right now the catchup mechanic is so strong it sometimes makes the lead a bad idea (in particular it is often a good idea to call up your primeval second).

16 RepliesEdited by diaboliC NOR: 11/2/2018 2:13:00 PMI used to think like you, until i understood what to do. Gambit would be complete shit if you never have a chance if the other teams banks first. Because thats how you win now, and thats what it comes down to. If you bank 25 motes first, in a way that make the other team not able to bank their motes, followed with a immediate invasion from someone like me who proceeds to wipe your entire team setting you back to 3-6 motes banked.. As soon as you get your shit together again after that bad start.. we spawn in one ogre followed by two phalanxes.. and a new invasion that deletes all your progress.. followed by we spawning the prime-evil, casually taking out envoys and trash-mobs while we wait for your two invasions... after the second invasion we melt our prime in 3 seconds while you are not even close to spawning your Prime.. GUESS how much you would whine on these forums if you could not even get some tiny bit of help on a comeback.

6 RepliesNo. Gambit is an easy game to just steam roll through. The Catch Up mechanic makes it fair for the other team to have a chance. If you’re as good as you think you are then you should be winning regardless.
