Destiny 3 Has to Have Dedicated Servers
I’m posting this because I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind playing comp. I just played a guy that was literally faster than any human being could react to. Like it was obvious this person’s console was receiving data faster than everyone else’s in the lobby.
Now I consider myself a fairly competent player. Before going and murdering my k/d for this Luna’s Howl quest I averaged around a 2.0 eff. But since I have been in comp boy oh boy the shenanigans I have seen.
Hunters have moon bounced and disappeared into orbit on Stomp33s, my shotgun will literally miss someone entirely at point blank range while simultaneously letting them kill me an instant later, my guns have stopped shooting as I’m pulling the trigger mid gunfight, unloaded Trust in faces only to watch them die a full 2 seconds later, the list goes on and on.
I say all that to say this. Bungie I swear to God on everything I love I’m not purchasing another Destiny game after this if it doesn’t have dedicated servers. I can’t... I -blam!-ing can’t do this again. I love this game. I love feeling like a space badass, but after playing Destiny since year one I still have no clue how truly good I am at this game. When I lose I’m not sure if it’s because I’m bad. And when I win I’m not sure it’s because I’m good. An individual’s connection to the host can completely alter a match that much.
I don’t have this problem in other games I know exactly how good I am in Overwatch. I know exactly how bad I am at twitchy shooters like Titanfall. You guys tried to make PvP into Overwatch, but missed because the game will never be taken seriously as an esport without having rock solid connections. Weapon and class balance not withstanding.
I know my little $60 bucks might not move the needle but I’m sure there are countless other players that feel the exact same way.

I keep getting thrown out of gambit games,because according to Bungie I have no internet connection . At the same time I go out on Bungies website on my iPad. This is just ridiculous Bungie!!!

1 ReplyYeah after the things I've seen since the game launched I have to agree. Maybe it'd also reduce the cheating going on as well. I still remember when it was mentioned before D2 was launched if there'd be dedicated servers and they snickered at it. And then as I made comments even to reputable YouTubers and friends some have said "no it wouldn't stop the amount of lag and cheating, there'll always be some lag no matter what". And some say "it's a cost issue". I honestly don't know, all I know is between the movement jumps and the hit registration and after deaths even though they were hit first, it hasn't changed all that much since D1 play. Even with what was suppose to be a better program. And spawn kills is also a concern. I just keep hoping the game will get better over time.

what? so you telling me after base game, season pass (2DLC), another DLC, anal pass and microtransactions on top, on its 4th year as a brand, still has no dedicated servers??? I m glad I droped this half ass game time ago, for sure laggers are still OP

Not gonna happen. Didn't happen during Halo and it definitely didn't happen when people like you begged for it during Destiny 1 when Destiny 2 was being developed.

D2 was supposed too but fanboys allowed bungie to get away with refusing to implement a feature most triple a titles have nowadays, we cant let them do it again for d3 or we will find ourselves in D2 Y1 again

I don't understand why you didn't ask for Destiny 2 to get dedicated servers. Do you honestly want to wait three more years? Without dedicated servers Destiny 2 PvP is a joke. In 95% of all matches, there are players with a connection advantage/ disadvantage.

The lag is strong in this game! Competitive should never be in Destiny and PVP should barely be allowed. It is impossible to determine who is a better player, because, it is down to your connection. I have stood behind a wall. Been shot and watched my orb relocate to clear line of sight of my opponent. That is a badly designed system, which allows two players the ability to see two different positions on their screens based solely on who shoots first. I have shot at where a player WAS, while shooting at a wall or obstacle, and although I can no longer see my target, see hits/kills scoring on my screen. This is a very poorly designed game, period. The fact that Bungie implements penalties on players who get tired and simply quit this poor system is gross arrogance... What is more disturbing is the fact I continue to purchase their products and play them! Don’t know who is the bigger dumbass...

Yeah dedicated servers has to happen. I don’t even want to think about d3 . Going through all this bs again. I love crucible but whatever they did to it makes it and inconsistent mess .

I come from the eve/wow/aa type monthly subscription based game... the player of this game would lose their shit if they started charging 14.99 per month to play this game... me I'd happily pay 20 a month for a game I enjoy...
