So this dude’s entire political career is getting trashed because of one lady claiming he -blam!- her and the only evidence is one drunk memory 30 years ago?

7 RepliesEdited by Section Ratio General: 10/5/2018 9:25:07 AMFrom what I see, he's mainly getting trashed on because he lied under oath. His friends and former classmates have called him out for lying under oath on national television. It also seems to bypass everyone's minds when Ford flat out said that she knows her testimony most likely isn't going to affect anything, but she wanted to get it off her chest, and then we have Trump and Republicans mocking her for tearfully recollecting her sexual assault case. Edit: I want to add in that I have noticed so many people on this forum hyperfocus on the one thing that is guaranteed to have not affected the nomination, yet still use it as their crutch to think that it will. Ford said that her testimony will most likely not affect anything, but so many people on this forum seem to think that it will. I worry for many people on this forum if they dedicate this much time and vitriol towards what seems to be the part that was explicitly mentioned to not affect anything, yet seem to not notice everything around their surroundings.

Well so far she has lied as well.

17 RepliesThere are plenty of other people who are qualified for the position and aren’t maybe a rapist so I think we should just go with one of the other guys

This made me laugh a little too hard....

57 RepliesNo. You have three women who are now accusing him of what is---at a minimum---misdemeanor sexual assault. While Ford has gotten all the press because she was the first to come forward.....I'm much more concerned about what others are saying about what he did in college and as an adult. Everyone is an asshole when they're a high school kid. But the other accusers are coming forwards with stories that are just as damning....and from a time in his life when he was old enough to know better. As I keep having to tell people. This is not a prosecution. This is a JOB INTERVIEW. ...and would you REALLY hire someone who is dragging all this baggage behind him? Especially knowing that you can't FIRE him later? Think not.

Yea that's about it.

7 RepliesAnd why would she wait 30 years to call him out?

2 RepliesThere's literally video of trump admitting to assaulting women, and he's still president. Evidence doesn't mean shit.

3 Repliessomeone needs to find the documentation of her counselling from a few years back.

3 RepliesI'm just waiting for this whole thing to blow over and the next big "crisis" to pop up.

Pretty much

8 RepliesBasically. The reason that the incredible effort to block him is likely tied to the fact he will be standing in for Justice Kennedy, who was a swing-vote. Despite being a carbon-copy of the overly specific Justice in question, the partisans in Congress who know they can't force their agenda through the Legislature (that whole lack of consent from the governed is a real bitch sometimes) rely on the courts to push through some of their garbage on occasion. Kavanaugh is milquetoast and utterly uninteresting, so the outrage mobs are really banging on all cylinders for this one. I think Kavanaugh is a shitty judge on principle, but all of this circus-show is nonsense. Anyone who thinks this is justified is completely off their rocker.

29 RepliesNot entirely. While it is true that the accusation is currently unproven, yet there are some similarities that line up with Ford's statements (take Kav's calendar for instance), I think it is more how he acted during the hearing. He acted like a child, who was throwing a tantrum because things simply were not going his way. Interrupting Democrat senators, refusing to answer their questions in a straightforward manner like he was for Republican senators, and all around acted liked the Supreme Court seat should be his. When asked if he supported an FBI investigation, he refused to answer yes or no. When one senator gave her own experience with alcohol abuse (through her father I believe), he turned around and disrespected her instead of answering her question. The Supreme Court is meant for individuals who deserve to be there, and I'm afraid Kavanaugh simply does not show such characteristics.

Something like that although there is no coraborating evidence to suggest that she is telling the truth. I'll be willing to hear her more as more evidence comes out, but none has. Also, I'll need to do more research on this, but I guess two people already came forward and said that they were the ones that sexually assaulted Ford, not Kavanaugh.

2 RepliesEven if none of it is true he still committed perjury while trying to explain that he was a decent person. So.
-
At least two more women came forward. Plus there's his whole lying under oath thing......
-
Even if he didn’t -blam!- her his career is over because of this event.

11 RepliesConsidering he has a track record of at worst lying, at best answering dishonestly, under oath, he doesnt deserve a Judicial position at all. Awful nominee, you're all a bunch of loons if you're ok giving a top-tier Judicial position to a man who cant even honour an oath.

Yeah about sums it up. He wants to be some sort of judge rather than a politician though.
