For those who didn’t know, Knife Trick is the new melee ability for Gunslingers using Way of a Thousand Cuts. Essentially, you throw three knives at once that do a little burn damage.
Now don’t get me wrong, this melee and the tree in general is super effective in PvE. However, I’ve been noticing that the damage this melee ability deals in Crucible is, to be completely honest, infuriating.
I’ve tested it multiple times, both in Public Games and Private Matches. Even you land all three knives onto a target with low resilience, it will never kill them. Even if the knives were all precision hits.
All I ask for is a simple damage buff. Not a buff that is game breaking or anything and throws off the current “balance” of the Crucible. All I ask is for a simple damage buff that allows Knife Trick to OHK any target with low to mid resilience if all knives in the fan hit a single target.

1 ReplyI find it extremely amusing how I get one punched by warlocks and titans, but my precision throwing knife sometimes doesn't even break their shields.

Sounds fair to me. Us warlocks have the handheld supernova, Titans have the shoulder charges, so I think hunters could use a potential ohk tool if they need it.
-
2 RepliesDepends on tracking ability and whatnot. If it's not easy to land, than makes sense give it the potential.
-
1 ReplyIf all 3 hit the face, sure. In my experience hitting a target with 3 knives isn’t a difficult endeavor. And with Playing with Fire things could get a little out of hand

17 RepliesDifference between the abilities Shoulder charge hit detection and tracking are ass and not very reliable. Shoulder charge requires me to constantly keep running and takes away the shooting part from my gameplay. It puts me in shotgun range and EVERYBODY uses a shotgun with hella impact and range. The animation for it is pretty slow. Knife trick (haven’t played as much with these but I’ve gotten some experience) Fans out making it better for close quarters. Has burn damage, can refill itself, and the dodge ability. They do around 50 damage each (range falloff is a thing so can do less from further range) Doesn’t take away you being able to shoot. Doesn’t require you to run around and can be utilized a lot better. I don’t think the knives should OHK because they wouldn’t require nearly as much as shoulder charge would. Maybe do more damage but that’s about it.

2 RepliesHalf the Community is based upon Hunters. lol without a doubt, every Hunter an their ghost will agree with you.
-
14 RepliesYou shouldn't have any basic ability that's just an instant kill. Especially one that is self replenishing.
-
16 RepliesThen warlock melee should be OHK across the map.
-
YES YES YES YES
Y E S
If it required 1-2 of those knives to be headshots and then would ohk immediately or land all 3 on the body and burn was enough to kill that would be great.
-
4 RepliesIf you are able to hit all three knives as headshots, it should be a one shot. It never will be because that isn't how Bungie sees Hunters. Bungie sees Hunters as the class that has to use their environment to outsmart and outplay the enemy, not brute force the problems. Hitting all three knives headshot on a moving small hitbox is brutally hard but that doesn't matter when Titans can LEROY JENKINS any problem at any time with a hitbox the size of Mt.Everest(I still have no issue as Titans are close quarter masters) My answer in short is yes it should if all three are headshots, but no it won't ever happen

31 RepliesAbsolutely not

1 ReplyIf you have the ahamkara(?) grasps equipped, the burn ticks keep reloading your current weapon. So while the damage might not quite be high enough the residual effects on your current weapon seem to offset this.

Edited by MirageScythe: 9/21/2018 4:05:04 AMI was wondering this myself and for those who dont think its easy well it really is if you are accostom to them. I have landed all three in players faces multiple times with almost no effect and the burn damage is weak too . I honestly think it should be a OHK since I have been OHK from multiple warlock melee attacks and it just seems a bit favoritive towards warlock and titan as far as melee goes imo While we are on this type of convo ....... What the Traveler is up with Warlocks and Titans always out running my Hunter ???? Though hunters are supposed to be fast hit and run types I mean thats why we have crap armor right ?
-
5 RepliesI'd say no because of the new solar sub class and that chest piece which gives 2 knives. It would be infinite OHK
-
12 RepliesI see what you’re saying but if I can’t kill someone with sticking them with a Grenade then I don’t get why I would kill them with a throwing knife
-
5 RepliesNope unless they’re all headers. Should be able to throw the knives up close within melee lunge range though to make it actually feasible.
-
Sure?
-
1 ReplyIf it requires precision, it should. Titans have it easy since they can auto pilot with their shoulder charge all day with shotgun in hand.
-
4 RepliesIf you hit all three in the head, why not? Sounds fun
-
If Titan classes can have a OHK secondary melee, so should the other classes.
-

-
Sure in a shotgun like way if I’m understanding this right. It will still be a high risk high reward.
-
And increase its hit speed... tires of trading with titan melee because of the delay

17 RepliesEdited by RingersCheckmate: 9/19/2018 2:37:55 AMMaybe with stacked burn, mid armored guardians die from the burn and not the initial impact. My only concern then is playing with fire and gamblers dodge, makes it very abusable
