I have mine. I spent ridiculous amount of time grinding for it because i'm a mid-tier player but I was determined.
There were days I would end the day well over 100 to 150 points down from where I started.
There were days I got on steaks and gained 200+.
Now I haven't won a game since the update.
It took me months of competitive to finally earn mine. I'll be back down a level soon, and any hopes I had of the shotgun, ornament, or emblem are gone.
The old system allowed someone willing to work hard and put in the time to eventually advance.
Now it might as well be Trials. There's a barrier in place made up of the top % of players that will never allow me to advance.
So I'm relegated to Quick Play. But, 6 v 6 is garbage with the map size. Getting shot from multiple players from multiple angles every 5 to 10 seconds just isn't fun.
Thanks Bungie for taking the part of your game I enjoyed most and making it terrible.
People will say I'm just not good enough and don't deserve the rewards, I've been reading the forums . And to some extent they're right. I'm not that good. But does that mean that perseverance should go without reward?
I've put in a ridiculous amount of time into this game, and now the rewards I was driving for seem completely out of reach
I know a good portion of you will say "get better" and "stop whining".
Don't bother. I have gotten better but I'll never be that top tier. I'm okay with that, as many people that play for fun are.
I just think it's poor form of Bungie to continue to cater to the elite and drive the average player away.

4 RepliesFrom cozmo,
Since the launch of Update 1.2.3 we’ve been monitoring feedback and analytics on our changes to Competitive matchmaking. While we’re happy with the change to match players using Glory Rank we noticed that too often players were getting matched with opponents way out of band for their rank. In response to this, we’re rolling out changes to dramatically slow down how fast matchmaking expands the acceptable ranges of Glory Rank for opponents. This means finding matches may take longer but you’re more likely to find opponents of similar Glory Rank. These changes are live now. Thanks!

Hopefully this helps.

Edited by TJ_Dot: 7/20/2018 10:16:59 PMNow the issue is being stuck in low ranks because you're stuck with those who pick fights they can't win and die, while you fight the premade buddy squad who has coordination on their side. Honestly Ranked Limbo is the most aggravating thing there is and Destiny makes it worse by putting actual stuff behind it. If you're someone who actually takes pride over others because of your rank and think that these things are deserving rewards, then you're supporting an unfair and demoralizing system. No one deserves the amount of stress that Trials and Comp give people, and this is why so many have left. Rewards should be from deserving effort. Considering this as a participation trophy is a shallow wall of elitism wanting something ultimately insignificant to be exclusive them, and them alone. Games with good competitive systems have players because actually people like them, not solely because they give desirable rewards. It'll be very hard to tell if those who have the claymore are ones who suffered and succeeded, or sweatys that make other's times miserable. I know I'm dropping comp the second I get it.

11 RepliesWelcome to the new age of Destiny. Where the game is catered to Youtubers, Streamers, and the Top 5% that are the only ones good enough, or can put a god teir team together to get the best rewards. At least you got the reward that most were after. Most have no chance to get it now.

Edited by Oinkthebaconking: 7/20/2018 9:08:07 PMI too like to get on steaks. Never gained +200 though. I weigh 180. Doesn't matter on the Claymore though. It will be obsolete in September.

I got Redrix Claymore one day after update and agree with OP. I tried one game in solo queue and matched to a 4-man combine 80x Flawless and well coordinated. Not exactly my competitive peers. As most players can attest, your COMP GRIND FRIENDS LIST grows. During my Redrix Grind, on a 8-9 game streak, I played some QUICKPLAY with true sweats. It’s an entirely different gaming culture. These guys deserve their own god tier playing ground i.e. Trials!!! They all know each other and are uber-protective of KD/KDA and image to support third party economy: Streaming/Account Recovery/Carries. MY SOLUTION: Double Experience Weekends - incentivizes larger group to play and reduce skill stratification Trials Rewards Glory ( No Loss Penalty) - 3 Days to Grind with impunity. You risk getting less points because your in god tier playground Con: Creates new market for account recovery and carries.

I haven't played competitive that much and might be a worse player then you. We won some games and lost some games. But they were all pretty close and really fun. We had one round where my team list a player early on. We all stuck it out, we came back and won some rounds. It came down to a final tie breaking round that was pretty close. It was a lot of fun. So far the matchmaking has been great. The ranking system, I don't know. I think it reacts to quickly for losses when your team is random.

This pvp king of the hill model needs to go. At least PVE is possible even for the Worst Players.

Congrats on the gun, pvp made me lose all interest in getting it

It's really not out of reach just grind and keep at it.

2 RepliesWhat about a Competitive Rumble playlist? 6 Guardians on the Map. Every guardian has 3 respawns. Last guardian standing wins. Radar is active. Glory points: Winner: 35points 2nd: 20points 3rd: 15points 4th: 0points 5th: -10points 6th: -15points Leaving or disconnection/leaving -35points after 1st warning. Tailored towards SoloPlayers.

I wont ever get it and im fine with that. Its not like its op, plus its kinda ugly.

I like the idea of being able to play the 1st couple of ranks with low-rank people, but the main reason I haven't play comp much is the lack of players. Why make a game mode that no one plays? It's not fun playing the same people over and over or waiting a long time to get into a match. Isn't rank based matchmaking going to make things worse? If you hit a rank and can't progress is there any reason to continue playing? They need to figure out how to get the elite players loot and keep the avg joes playing. We'll have to wait and see how things pan out, some of the changes sound ok. In D1 I would play elimination to get a feel for the game mode when I didn't have friends online. What is the point of comp. in D2?

Matchmaker is clearly not working. 1sr problem is that they changed the matchmaker mid season. 2nd there are no true limitations in how big the difference of glory points can be between the 2 teams. either my team or the enemy team has usually over 1400 glory points more. thats a full rank more. according to destiny tracker most games are over 90% in favour of 1 team. 3rd they removed the fire team balance. most of the time you run against a full fire team but no one in ur team is using team chat. I know that bungie sacrificed balanced matchmaking to waiting times but if u want to play quick matches go to the quickplay list. Truth be told most ppl in comp have nothing to do there. if you don't have a positive K/D in quickly why even try comp ? and bungie why should a negative K/D be in my team and play against ppl with 3+ K/D. ppl who say that you r not good enough and do not recognise that matchmaker is broken are just trolls. Any other comp game Rainbow6S, overwatch etc have a clearly better matchmaker than D2. I just don't understand why bungie refuses to use ELO for matchmaker.

And besides, it was simplifying the game that got us into this mess in the first place.

12 RepliesEdited by HaouRyuk: 7/20/2018 1:40:39 PMI gave up trying, can't even make it to rank 1, worst part is it's not even my fault, I'm above average the lowest K/D I typically have is about 2.0-3.0 per game (my last two games yesterday were 33.00 and 24.00) Not going to call myself "good" but above average, anyway that hasn't stopped me from a 25 loss streak simply due to my team mates, it doesn't matter how well I play I lose....In my experience I'm usually the only person on my team with ANY kills by the end of the first round or two so the entire game basically feels like a 1v4 round after round, game after game...all while watching my rank points plummet...That's what I get for being a solo player. This is why I have a real issue with the way competitive is scored, I lose points when I lose a match, fine...but how about give me some back for doing well, it's not my fault my team sucks, it's a real kick to my motivation when playing, why should I try harder to win a 1v4 game when i'm just going to lose points for it?...Yeah I could stack a team, but I don't really think you should HAVE to...Which is kind of why being a solo player with Destiny's match making sucks.

6 RepliesJust accept that you are not top tier and move on. Its not the worse thing to happen to you.
