Titan could be a bigger threat then we thought

Unless you just stopped playing at the EDZ I'm positive that everyone knows that the hive have almost completely taken over Titan and are currently raising a dark army for their master savathun. You also may be aware of that cinematic roadmap we got after the credits finished rolling that tells us the order of expansions and where there going to take place. The order, for those who forget was Mercury, Mars, the Reef and finally the Dreadnought. I wish to propose a theory If you've been playing since Destiny 1 and are well versed on your Hive lore you should know by now that when the Hive Invade planet they start off by hollowing out that planets moon, creating a temporary base of operations and a safe place to grow their army's. For example, earth's moon was hallowed out and used as the staging ground for the planets invasion, it's also worth mentioning that the Hive are only ever seen on the Moon and Earth (prior to TTK) meaning that they tend to focus on one planet at a time. Now that we know this we can apply this observation to the Hive in D2 (prior to Warmind). throughout all the location in D2 Titan is the only on with Hive, Titan is also a moon and judging by how far the Hive have tunneled down it's safe to assume that Titan is the Hive's next war moon. But here's the thing, Saturn is a gas planet and has zero life on it, the Hive wouldn't waste their time on such a planet. naturally this seems strange untill you realize where the final DLC is taking place, the Dreadnought. I believe that savathun and her brood are making Titan into a war moon to invade the Dreadnought and claim Oryx's throne. What do you guys think?

  • I think we're going back to the Dreadnought. Its cost-effective to use old assets. I think when we get there it won't be what we expect. I imagine some type of juxtaposition to the dreadnought we remember. Instead of barnacles and filth covering every wall of ship, we arrive to find it abundant with flowers and life (think pre-collapse Mercury.) There's a common theme sprinkled around adventures and the main scenario: tapping into sources of light. Every enemy is pursuant of using light to their benefit, not just to suppress and kill it. Using guardians to make void light crystals. the caball on io to draw it for gaul. The optics of vex milk fluid to pools of light on io and in the woods of the EDZ. The NPC on io has us test a machine he's made that produces orbs. We go into the woods and find a chunk of the traveler and we have new remixed powers. I think the arrival of savathun will culminate those themes into the weaponization of light and the full execution of it's use from enemies. The explosion of life on the dreadnought would mark savathun's manipulation of the light and her ability to wield it. I'm still wondering why there's a worm on Titan. (It's totally a worm, has all of the features of xol). The only thing I can imagine is that it's been trapped on titan since the collapse and is possibly savathun's. Overall Saturn has a purpose. There's a reason why Oryx set up shop in those rings. Why the hive took a detour on titan during the collapse. My best guess is that the Gas giant of saturn has a similar environment to Fundament, and the clouds of Jupiter are where the Sky Dragons are holed up. That we're setting the stage for the solar system to become a multi-faction alien war zone going in D3 or D4. Going really far out, D3 could be us leaving the solar system to find reinforcements. D4 is the return home and the battle for earth. Wait, what was this post about?

    • I think Titan should become a bigger play area. You see all the Arcology buildings in the background. Im amazed at all the detail put into all that and we are confined to a small area. i wish we had more public space on Titan. hopefully bungie add more in the future

    • I have a question-which is could that giant worm thing be what’s hollowing out the moon as there seems to be a skeleton of a worm type creature in TTK when your getting a part of the crystal of Crota Just a theory if not what could it be Because if there’s no reason why a giant worm is swimming around on the planet then I think they’re doing something wrong because that could be a big path in a story As well that spiky dragon thing is that just an effect or is that a teaser for something else

      • So Titan is being turned into a war moon. Huh. Makes sense. However it doesn’t make sense for savathun to need a war moon to take over the dreadnaught. Maybe for taking over sol if she was desperate for revenge of the deaths of her son and daughter, possibly her brother, nethew(‘s) and Nieces. But She clearly has the ability to take beings, and she already has control of her own brood and chances are she could easily take over the broods of Oryx and Crota, the grasp of Nokris are already communicating with her and maybe even the worm cult if she’s lucky. So really taking over the dreadnaught should be easy for her.
But do you not see the similarities between fundament and Titan. Inevitably flooded and water based, large leviathan like creature in the ocean and a dark force underneath. Obviously this is purely coincidental but still present.
They are on mars so that makes titan as a base of operations a little less relevant. Savanthun is known to be a whisperer so we are bound to see backstabs and manipulation rather than an all out war that Oryx did. She will control the taken. She will be holding her dead worm. She will be plotting.

              • Right now, I think the Dreadnaught is at war with itself. There is no current leader, so the chain of command probably collapsed. You’re probably right. Savathun is most likely going to sweep in with a massive army from Titan and/or possibly Mars and completely take over.

              • I feel like Titan is a natural choice for the Hive remnants to locate because of the proximity to the Dreadnought. I don’t think Saturn or Titan is going to be the focus or the next expansion. We just did the Hive, again in Warmind. After the Scorn, I’m hoping for a new race. Unfortunately- it will likely be the Hive and taken.... again.
sigh
• Titan has some amazing potential however for what ever reason almost nothing has been done with it or even really had any plans mentioned about it. In the one mission we see like an amazing city under the "water", and yet nothing is ever even said or done with it at all. We have also seen the "leviathan of titan" and yet absolutely nothing was done with that either. Tons of potential but i am honestly not about to hold my breath for anything being done with it.

                              • Hmm, I will agree, I would say that we are not done with the dreadnought. However what will happen once we get there is up to debate. Your theory sounds solid, but here is what I think. The giant axion dart things Mara Sov and her coven launched at the dreadnought where in fact called harbingers. Notice how they tore clean through the tombships and when they struck the dreadnought they did no damage yet still punched through. I think that they were not weapons but instead transports of some sort. Which begs the question, what did the Awoken put onto the dreadnought? Plus they left behind and did not use the biggest harbringer, telesto. What was so special about it, and what is in it? We know that the awoken have powers. We know that the awoken experiment with taken power. We know that the delivery of the harbingers was part of the plan even at the cost of the near entire Awoken fleet. So what is so important to the Awoken to get on board the dreadnought that the cost was justified? Whatever the next chapter of the dreadnought is, I think it will involve whatever the awoken put onto that ship.

                                • It’s plausible, though the dreadnaught has been done rather extensively. It would be cool to have a new element added to it. Regarding Saturn being a gas giant with no solid surface, yes very true. That being said the proto-hive lived in the atmosphere of Fundament on some sort of engineered continents. According to the Book of Sorrow, Taox was (or is, she might still exist) a designer of the engines for the Osmium Court. So who knows, maybe Savathun feels whimsical and is building some platforms in the upper atmosphere of Saturn. I think it would be a cool addition to have a location with colourful layered gasgiant clouds as a backdrop along with the great hive architecture. The dreadnaught will be a focus I’m sure, but maybe we’ll get similar dual locations like the tangled shore and dreaming city in Forsaken.

                                  • People think Savathun is behind the events about to play out in Forsaken. I doubt that very much for the simple fact that it would be too early to face her. Also, there's been hints that the Ahamkara are well aware of our power and might be looking to use us for something.
